Hieroglyphs look so much more beautiful when properly coloured or painted.

In a way, I can. It would be a tacit admission that her father did indeed cheat on her mother long before her birth. Right now she understands that intellectually. She does so on the basis of incomplete data, but even so. Actually seeking out Diane and meeting her in person would be going from comprehension to acceptance -- on some level, anyway. And she is not quite ready to accept it.
  3. NP Monday December 5, 2016

It seems reasonable to me. I can certainly see how it would apply.
  4. NP, Wednesday December 7, 2016

Oh come on. That was never Japanese, that was Tagalog. Couldn't you tell from the brackets?
  5. Story Monday December 5, 2016

    They did. Thanks.
  6. Story Monday December 5, 2016

It would involve falsifying records, but that obviously doesn't rule it out. Well, I didn't. *scratches head*
  7. Things that make you go WTF

    Spoilsport.
  8. Story Monday December 5, 2016

Still, it is a viable hypothesis. Admittedly she was born here according to the record, but there is something unexplained going on. I'm going to mark it down as at least 'conceivable.'

To be honest, it would not make sense if they did. Apart from them not being human, they do not have any legal existence. They enjoy no protection nor benefits from laws and do not need them, either. The whole point of a system of laws is to regulate a society and they are not in any way part of our societies. What they do have is their own 'laws', as set out and ranted about by Voltaire. And just like different human societies have different laws, so do immortals -- witness the Ancients from the other half of the world. Clearly, these laws have NOT been made with human interests in mind but rather to establish a baseline of morals/ethics within their own society. Given how independent immortals seem, I am not even sure why they have these rules. Possibly rogue immortals are in a position to damage immortals as a whole somehow. It is the only reason I can see for them having laws at all.

That's no fun. I usually blame you instead. In this case, I'd come up with some jibe at cell phone regulations in Memphis ca. 1000 BCE.
  11. Things that make you go WTF

Good point. I think we had better add translations in Coptic cursive and Classical Greek.
  12. Magic: The Gathering colors of the cast

The Moderator: Please. It is possible to disagree without being rude. Asking assumptive questions of this kind is not good form and violates the courtesy rules. ~tOH.

The Moderator: CritterKeeper is correct. In the future, please take this into account. If you are not sure whether a link is NSFW, it is better to include a provisional warning. ~tOH.
  14. What are you reading right now?

Does it ever. Goldarn English ingrates. Here we came and stole their land, their property, their goods, and then imposed a system of taxation on them if they wanted to make us stop doing it, and do we get any thanks? Nooooo. All we get is complaints about how once you agree to pay Danegeld, you never get rid of the Dane.
  15. NP Monday December 5, 2016

Good, I still need my stock replenished. I'm just about set when it comes to midjinks and lowjinks, mind.
  16. What are you reading right now?

*scratches head* Good question. In my most extreme moods linguistically speaking I hold it that there are as many variations of English as there are speakers. Mine would be my own.
  17. Story Monday December 5, 2016

Oh for goodness sake. You'd think you had never gotten over Akhenaten. Yes, he lost his religion but he found himself a new one. He even built an entire city devoted to it. Just because it didn't center on sacred crocodiles doesn't mean it wasn't valid.
  18. Things that make you go WTF

I think the problem is that they get marketed as amusement parks. I am told that the Red Skull, Thanos and Malekith find the crocodiles eating incautious guests highly amusing.
  19. What are you reading right now?

I have English as a second language, does that count?
  20. NP Monday December 5, 2016

We've already seen Akiko manifest Cookie Fairy powers.
  21. NP Monday December 5, 2016

Well, technically it is specifically protected by the courtesy rules because they ban discrimination on a religious basis, but it isn't the faith as much as the working actively towards making the world as we know it end that is making me gun shy. If I let the world end on my watch, the other mods will never let me hear the end of it.
  22. NP Monday December 5, 2016

mlooney is just being overdramatic. You get used to him. Just don't feed him after midnight and if he ever starts posting Cthulhu worship posts please drop the mods a note.
  23. Story Monday December 5, 2016

Ellen would be in a position to know, yes. Kinda sorta. She was the sister no-one had ever heard of before.
  24. NP Monday December 5, 2016

Yay Akiko! We see her so seldom.
  25. Things that make you go WTF

It had better not be. I already have enough trouble getting the other moderators off my case about Pharaoh's alligators eating guests in amusement parks.
