For the scope of damage, that does not seem like a shabby response time. We get a hurricane in this far about once every ten years. In the time I've lived here, about thirty years, they've buried the utility lines, and it has cut outages tremendously.

NP Comic for Saturday, October 1, 2022 This is too odd. There is no way Rich has not run into dudes playing a female character before. Not even buying the 'another universe' argument.

NP Comic for Saturday, October 1, 2022

"Why are you playing an elf? You're not an elf?" ... If a halfling mates with a halfling, wouldn't their kid be a quarterling? I'm going to play a sorcerer who does not believe in magic, but he has allergies, and every time he sneezes, he casts a random spell. His eyes close, so he never sees himself casting. -
ll told, for a high cat hurricane, that does not sound too bad. No flooding?

I'm not getting why these guys are getting the intensely ominous foreshadowing. It seems like a lot of build up for a fairly straight forward story. Luke can see auras. He's seen intensity, but not a crown shape, that we've been shown. He is possibly just overwhelmed. Rhoda's, and possibly Catalina's auras had intensity. We have no indication, other than just hinted in this comic, that Rhoda has a royal aura. Panel five, lower left, appears to be Sarah. Being as weak as she was, that seems at odds with 'being royalty'. Hmm. So Luke is posited as the spotter, but Luke might not have the exact kind of resolution they need. And does 'taking an aura of royalty' involve harm or loss to the person being taken from? Or are they just copying an aura? ... Who in the griffin-verse can see the auras?

... a flaw with meritocracy, being good at A does not mean you are qualified to do B. Bishop is in line for the directorship based on (presumably) seniority and performance, but she lacks empathy. I'm not a big fan of the Peter Principle, because people do grow with their jobs, Peter assumes a static worker who never progresses. But in this case, as with many, it is not directly being promoted to the point of incompetence in a linear sense (which may not actually exist, unless the number of levers you have to pull increases with each step), but rather has qualifications beyond prior positions, which is the truly typical case. And, unfortunately, character is something you learn early in life, I'm not sure where you get it if you don't already have it. I suppose in some sense it can be taught, but I doubt it sticks if you don't invest yourself in the process. -
Comic for Wednesday, September 28, 2022 As Mlooney said, the story advances rapidly through the miracle of exposition. Elliot as an agent might be a bad thing, although training could help. Grace seems to be a natural.

He may be holding off retirement because he does not fully trust Bishop. -

True, snakes eat squirrels, so Bishop and Grace might be unhealthy for Grace. I wonder if Bishop is actually part snake. She seems a little off for 'fully human'. I think Arthur would be OK. He's OK, Edward seems to cope. Grace got along with Adrian, and Adrian can be difficult. -
One can only hoop so.

What Larry doesn't say is "... master of none" - why it seems like an odd choice. So he's Larry, Bard. I suppose the wizard will be Magic, Son of John. This is a thing?

The peninsula is mostly a few feet above sea level. The high point in all of Florida is something like 200 feet.

Hurricane headed more or less this way; we're projected to get 40 mph winds and much rain. If it stays west of us ... Can't believe Canada got hit. When's the last time that happened?

Elliot would be a 'very special agent', like Anthony DiNozzo. I could see Edward doing the head slap thing for him, too. -
Comic for Monday, September 26, 2022 Shadowy figure montage looks like a good way to get a lot of comic done. It appears to be a version of Elliot. Tedd is rather urgent about that brownie. No need, Tedd, brownies are always well received. ... Now I want a brownie.

I'm in favor of an ACME anvil solution. (I don't think Mythbusters ever fact checked Wiley.)

Now, I run into a vocabulary problem. Exfenestration should be 'tossed out a window', not defenestration; defenestration should be 'removal of windows'. Albeit, the first leads to the second, especially if it is the large picture window of a comic shop. Plus: Rich would fit, the window is large. Con: Window is damaged. Large windows are expensive. Comic shop is on the first floor. Display in window would be in disarray. Sadly, it would likely not be a learning experience.

She is an extreme example, even among the type. She effectively became one of the lead villains through her actions. Briefly. Very briefly. Did a lot of damage in her instant in the spotlight, though.

What sort of useful work? What is the goal?

A Paladin played by Richard. How original. I suppose, sixty years later, it is considered to be a revival. A better question would be, "Why does Rich's default mode go toward finding the easiest way to be a butt head?"

Among the many indictments are ones targeting his supposed valuation not having any foundation in reality. I suppose we'll see.
