I am typing this on the new laptop. The keyboard is slightly different where the right-side Shift, Ctrl, arrow, and 0 keys are. Gotta get used to that. Also got to get used to the screen resolution - 1920x1080 on a 15.3" screen results in smaller text than the 1366x768 from my old system, but I can see more of a web page now. Not sure if I'm going to scale the text or leave it as is. Stardock Fences and Menu10 are installed. They make Windows 10 a little easier to navigate, as does Total Commander (now installed and, for the most part, configured). The "clean install" option was definitely worth it—I love being able to get to the business of configuration without navigating crapware land mines. Speed-wise, it's a big difference. Disk ops are MUCH faster due to the NVMe SSD, and the boost from the i7-6700HQ CPU is noticeable. It also seems to run a lot cooler than the old system—I don't have to turn on the noisy fans on my Zalman laptop cooler. Happiness has been attained for now. We'll see if it remains once I start transferring documents, music, videos, etc.

Changing Medications (Level of Trust Required) (Content TV-MA)

Itchy eye. Sorry to hear it. The doctors probably told you to keep your hands away from your eye for a month, at least. Makes my eyes itch just thinking about it. -

Good luck. I'd say, "break a leg," but given the context ... well, it wouldn't be too appropriate, would it? -

Unfortunately, that's part of the first firing up of the system. Windows 10 (and whatever other registration software XOTIC PC put on it) will ask for WiFi keys, user accounts, and all kinds of other crap that I'm not quite braced for yet. At least I've got the thing sitting next to my 2009 model Win7Pro HP, ready to go when I get up the nerve to hit the Big Red Button. Nice problem to have, compared to what I had Monday.

FedEx finally showed up—at the correct address—with my laptop! Now I'm scared to turn it on without someone to back me up in case I screw up the configuration ...

UPS, so far.

Mrs. Prof handles negotiations of multi-million-dollar Postal & Transport Policy (i.e., logistics) contracts for a major service of the U.S. Government. Trust me—they suck. Bad enough to not win the contracts she's negotiated.

I've been waiting all day for my new laptop to get here, checking the FedEx website on occasion. Imagine my dismay when I find a delivery exception posted: "Customer Not Available or Business Closed. Delivery will be re-attempted the next business day." I'VE BEEN HERE ALL DAY! THEY'VE NEVER EVEN KNOCKED ON MY DOOR OR LEFT A DOOR TAG! Rotten idiots either went to the wrong house or are lying through their teeth. I called FedEx and complained. Got told that they would do "everything that they can" to re-attempt delivery today. I'm not holding my breath.

I wonder how Arthur/Sirleck's wealth will help him rain hell on Moperville (if I'm reading panel 3 correctly). If his plan involves other supernatural beings, why would they care about money?

Changing Medications (Level of Trust Required) (Content TV-MA)

Ah, cocaine. The one and only time I have had cocaine in my body was while I was under anesthesia for correction of a deviated septum and resection of my turbinates, back in the early '90s. The only time I get it, and I'm not awake to experience it. -

The ankle pain finally calmed down, only to be replaced by pain in the knee that I screwed up in a bicycle wreck in 1984 plus a *massive* sinus headache. All in all, I've been laid out whenever I've been offline this week (mainly due to the sinus headaches). I'm tempted to go on Rhinocort, despite the problems I've had with nasal corticosteroids making my nose bleed in the past. I'm guessing that I might be able to reduce this risk by using a nasal saline spray with the Rhinocort (not at the same time - spread-out doses). (BTW, I can't take Flonase—long story.) Anyone here know how to reduce nosebleeds from steroid nasal sprays? Please, please advise. -
