I think it was between classes during the day. Panel three has Elliot wearing a jacket on top of his shirt, like he'd just arrived, while panel four has him wearing just the shirt.

To be fair, to be good at karaoke you have to know the piece well enough to remember all the key changes and flourishes and such. Only one or two lines are on screen at a time, so if you forget where you are in the song you could sing the wrong version of a line and then have to make an obvious switch to the right one.
  3. Changing Medications (Level of Trust Required)

Need to get them all on the same phone call or email chain and get them to sort out the best timing among themselves. (And yes, I realize how difficult getting hold of even one doctor can be, let alone several at once.)

Unless it was an already-existing rumor, then people who believed it would be paying attention to whether they knew where Nanase was. I'm betting Mr. Verres is smart enough to make sure the manufactured sighting occurred when Nanase was in school, too, possibly while she was giving a speech in class or something. I'm a little surprised he didn't time it for when Elliot was somewhere with more observers than just being in the hallway, too.

That's a fun question. What would you find in an ancient Greek historical museum? What would they have to say about their forebearers and other past cultures?
  6. All Things Ashley

You're making me want to give Stand Still, Stay Silent another try. I got bogged down in some of the slower world-building bits, and decided to start it over again when there was a bit more there. As I recall, it was more folklore than mythology being played with there.

On the one hand, The Sims would be pointless if every action took the same amount of time as it would in real life. It's much more fun when things that should take hours, weeks, or years are completed in minutes to days instead. On the other hand, it's really annoying when an action you know would only take a few minutes, or even seconds, in real life, is scheduled such that it takes 12 or even 24 hours to complete. We don't mind when a game (or reality) is unfair as long as it's unfair in our favor!
  8. The Grammar Thread

LOL, I had forgotten that the common and scientific names were the same for boa constrictors!

Then, of course, there are more modern translations....

The proper way to state a genus and species is to capitalize the first word, the genus, which is the broader category; use a lower case for the species, which is a narrower, more specific identifier; and to italicize both. Homo sapiens, Homo habilis, Pan paniscus, Gorilla gorilla (yes, that's really the scientific name for gorillas), Tenebrio molitor, Escheria coli.

Granted. Your coins are only accessible via teleportation, and their location is the only place you can teleport, and you can only teleport back to exactly where you left. You cannot bring anything with you that isn't a living part of you, including clothes and hair, so any time you teleport you arrive naked and bald. And no, coins inside your digestive tract are still not a living part of you. (I'm feeling generous so your gut bacteria can come along with you.) I wish for the temperature in Chicago tomorrow to range between 45°F and 65°F.

If Elliot has a new non-girly spell, it should reflect some (other) aspect of his personality. He's definitely got a "saving people thing" going on, so that would be my first guess. Not sure what other personality aspects might work. He's competitive but he's also extremely honest, so he's not likely to want a spell that would help him win at basketball or racing or martial arts, Likewise the proverbial boy scout is unlikely to want to magically change the behavior of others through magic, even in "good ways," although he might need Ellen's more thoughtful input to figure that out consciously. Really, other than getting a male superhero form, I can't think of any really obvious spells Elliot would want and use. There are plenty of things he's like, I'm sure, just none of them stand out as most likely.
  13. What Are You Listening To?

Wait, wait, there's a Goonish team on this game? :-)
  14. Story: Friday 24 Feb 2017

Now I want to go find a way to search the Apocrypha too, and see how they compare.
  15. Story Friday March 17, 2017

Clearly, tOH, Susan and Elliot need you! Quick, jump through your computer screen and moderate their forum comments for them! Wait, no, that would mean you wouldn't be modding our comments any more! Never mind, forget I said anything....

There is sort of an informal alliance between steampunk and cephalopods, so any time I see an octopus with a monocle, I would immediately think that it needs a top hat. Possibly one with gears on it, if we're going for the full cliche, but if the octopus in question is already mechanical then that's covered already.
  17. The Grammar Thread

Hmm, I always see it phrased this way, but looking at it, this doesn't seem right. It's not the birthday that's late, but the happy wishes. Seems like "A belated happy birthday!" would be more appropriate. Since I almost never see the word 'belated' in any other context, it's hard to be sure about proper usage.
  18. Things You Find Amusing

    Happy belated birthday!
  19. What Are You Listening To?

I copied a bunch of music files from my dad's hard drive; I expect I'll end up with the CDs in question, but for now this was simpler, mom's got enough to think about. So now I'm listening to Artisan, Bill Staines, and Stan Rogers.
  20. What Are You Ingesting?

Hmm, the place I took the tea class that got me into white teas has switched to online-only. Might be worth a look. They had a pretty big variety. I give them points just for naming one of their more yummy teas "Berry White Tea." :-)
  21. Things You Find Amusing

I disagree. If I were to flip a coin five times, getting heads each time, and exclaim, "What are the chances of that?" the answer would be easily calculated as 3.125%. The reason "chances of that" isn't appropriate here is because it's clearly a contrived situation rather than a crazy random happenstance. The odds of it happening at random are infinitessimal compared to the chance that someone deliberately created the image, which is not possible to calculate mathematically.

That explains everything! Eh, I'm a little surprised to find that I am interested, at least in the process Dan went through to come up with the little forewarned guy. :-)
  23. Story: Wednesday March 15, 2017

    Only if Sarah caled Elliot.

I do a little of The Sims Freestyle and Two Dots....and we had Pong and then an Atari....
  25. Story: Monday, March 13, 2017

Someone thinks Elliot is Dangerous And Very Expensive, perhaps? Sorry, the relevant part is near the bottom of a very long post in the Freefall forum.....
