Doh. Wrote susan when meant Diane...

I was going for "fairy grandmother" but that works too...

Susan now has the next best thing to a fairy godmother...

I prefer to think Marks are exercises of power but are part of the people who are marked. While we don't know about a proper reset, we know that Susan's Mark was not affected the French Immortals' improper reset. Certainly that says a mark is not like an artifact,. Jerry said the Hammer Artifact wouldn't work anymore and his new self wouldn't have the energy to power it. No Jerry, no hammers. But we also already know that Marks are powered by the wearer, not the Immortal that made them.

I wouldn't be surprised if huge amounts of pandora's life became hazy for a "refreshed" version. Only the important stuff would remain distinct like Blaike and Adrian. I have never heard of an Immortal undoing a magic mark. True, nothing is known to be impossible for magic besides time travel, but I have never heard of it any comic or Dan commentary I can remember. I know Tedd is concerned that a Magic reset would destroy his mark (or maybe just his ability to use it) but that ought to be independent of a Pandora reset/refresh.

The way Jerry tells it, I thought it was one combined thing. the more powerful an Immortal the more insight they had, the more intelligent they are, the more bored, the more insane. That's why I think Pandora has to give up her unnatural clarity, insight, accumulated power, etc in order to refresh. She might even remember her life, but would be a fledgling Immortal for most other purposes. I don't know if it is conscious in the sense of an Immortal approving of Pandora's actions can "opt out", but I could be wrong. Pandora very likely couldn't find H&D unless they wanted to be found. They have very likely mastered "how not to be seen" on their spirit plane. Pandora would have to luck into them. For that same reason they could be at the mall right now, waiting for their cue.
-
I doubt Pandora has killed all vampires on earth, mostly for meta reasons. Having Sirleck spontaneously combust while driving Elliot/Ellen's car would be anti-climax. All the vampires at the mall? Oh yeah. Break out the brooms and dustpans. One thing I hope Dan shows just for my pure, personal geeky interest is what it looks like when an Immortal actually pulls the trigger and resets (or has reset forced upon them).
-
1) I believe it is automatic and unconscious. 2) What is the speed of magic? The forced reset is triggered by the Immortal realizing they violated Immortal Law. (hell of a loophole if you think about it). How fast to gather the little blip of power from every Immortal and direct it at the violator? 3) A better question is: "What does a "refresh" entail?" What must Pandora give up in order to refresh? Obviously the creeping insanity. That's the whole point. What is that insanity attached to? I suspect the accumulated power and perception as well... If Pandora resists the reset, I expect it will be temporary, just long enough to say a few important things before being overwhelmed.. If she successfully refreshes, I think she'll come back in all ways a new immortal but with her important emotional attachments intact.

The I-Can't-Remember-Which-Thread Thread

Reminds me of the first time I saw the "Scottish Highlands", which seemed more like the "Scottish Hills" to me. -
I think Voltaire is using Pandora as a sacrifice to make a point. "Look at how lousy our law is. An Immortal defending her child against aberrations has to reset."

Good point. let us hope Kaiju never discover VR...

and the economic boost from kaiju-related reconstruction. I was more thinking what a mess Moperville would have been in had Godzilla chosen to telecommute that day.

Skinks don't stink, but they can shrink from public view. Actually the original body was in fact a skunk. It's how the monument got its name as well as why it was quickly renovated. But alas the name stuck. "Smell? It sphinx!"

Saved by a commuting Godzilla...

...or a skink for that matter.

Oh just drop it on him and let him deal with it from there. Give his regeneration a workout at any rate. -
I thought Dan said somewhere that Susan used a hammer because she couldn't make a second sword. Since I can't find it in his commentary, it may have been his FB page? Could Nase be her own spell? How would that work with Susan wanting/needing multiple dolls from Nanase to have multiple different Nase appearances? Maybe Susan can't summon the same thing twice from her chest of goodies so three different Nases was summoning 3 different dolls once each?

Here I thought you were referring to the inimitable Dobie-o-matic (pinterest link)

All the talk of Susan and dodging in Dan's commentary made me think of...this (note that Team Four Star video is often NSFW due to language. This happens to be fine on that score. Still very violent)

"nightflight" by Shiller just came over my Pandora...

The BBs migth do more damage than normal for their anti-vampire qualities as well. Appropos of nothing, friends showed me about half the first season of "Assassination Classroom" this weekend...
-
How 'bout a .22 then? Some ranged weapons accelerate the projectile too, such as compound bows and gyrojet ammo. They might be able to get around the impulse-unsummon problem at this point. It might be ironic if Susan couldn't do a .45 but could do a RPG or stinger missile. She could probably do a functional Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch, but the big question would be shrapnel range before the pieces unsummon....
-
Raven's final thought suggests now might be a good time to reopen the discussion of Susan creating/summoning a Vampire-killer gun of some kind. In previous discussions the idea was shot down (pun intended) by the fact that Susan's weapons couldn't withstand hitting a vampire without being destroyed as a part of the strike.. That fragility meant that the propelling powder charge in the bullet's cartridge would destroy a summoned bullet and likely the summoned gun, attempting to fire it making the whole thing a potentially very loud waste of time. But Susan can now create a sword that repeatedly slices, dices and makes Julian fries out of vampires. Could she now create a usable gun? "Yes" is a very tempting answer, but we don't know how hard a strike her current version can take. While the total energy released by a gunshot is probably less than a sword swing, it's released as an explosion which could still exceed the durability limits of Susan's object creation.

It was just a thought I had for framing how Pandora could semi-reset. The whole reasons Immortals reset is because they get too powerful/aware/crazy. Maybe it's not as simple as letting go, but the question is if there's a way to deal with the madness without starting entirely at Square 1.
