  1. Story Monday April 16, 2018

Might not be that much bureaucracy, more like they can't contact facility X because they don't know how or where it is (too secret), they need to contact Y who will contact facility X ... IF he's not on vacation right now of course. Also, it's just potential threat. It's also possible nothing will happen (because the stuff they have is not artifact from old magic, or it's already discharged, or the conditions to activate it are obscure enough noone will do it by mistake) ... It would actually help if something WOULD happen - preferably small enough to be easily hidden, but big enough so they can use it as example.
  2. Story Monday April 16, 2018

She might not be "eeek"ing at whatever in the craft, but rather whatever it is coming from the diamond shards, notice the birdlike shape in panel 4. THAT might be the "hawk" Pandora warned about. I'm pretty sure Magus is the hawk. Arthur might find it prudent to even try to warn non allies of this development, better that everyone be aware than have someone think they might be able to take advantage of something. It MIGHT be better if enemy is NOT aware they just got new weapon ... I still think his concern about PTTAOLUTASF is not because it's close or because it's under his direct control (although both is true) but because it's the most dangerous place now. Or, at least most dangerous compared to how little security they had there ; artifact activating in facility which is SUPPOSED to handle dangerous artifact would be less dangerous because they are more ready for that. And as I said, warning museums is not worth it: it would cost lot of time better spent on other stuff, because the people being warned wouldn't know what to do with that warning. Better secure other stuff first and check museums later, hoping that they won't explode meanwhile, literally or figuratively. I think he doesn't have the chain mail anymore ... sure he has his sword but otherwise he will be in modern clothes.
  3. Story Monday April 16, 2018

Still not proven. Also, it's weird: usually when one object is enchanted by two spells, there is some interference, but the diamond worked correctly on Magus ... Abraham wouldn't make Ashley do the 9E. I do expect he will show up, but maybe later. Not similar, but still containing artifacts. Yup. At least the "allies". Enemies can explode I guess. (Ok, realistically, they probably don't have any usable communication to enemies.) Noone and it would be hard to warn them considering they are civilians and wouldn't know what to look for. Someone will need to check the museums eventually, but seems Arthur is now focusing on facilities with higher likehood of containing artifacts AND operated by someone knowing about magic.
  4. Story Monday April 16, 2018

LOD (Level of Detail). There are nails, but too smal to be visible, and there are more planking in still version ... Not necessary. The crate could be lot closer than Ellen. It can be same height as the one Ashley is hiding behind, and Ashley is NOT standing. Or maybe it's higher because perspective is hard . Yes No. Martian tripod is not magic artifact. ... are you implying the image changed? It's same since Monday 4:14 GMT ...
  5. Story Monday April 16, 2018

The government IS prepared for a Zombie Apocalypse. www.egscomics.com/egsnp.php?id=265 ... and it rarely happens. Meaning it already happened. Still, I think it's more dangerous than crater, especially considering the previous apocalypses were under limited set of magic rules - this one can work differently. Yup.
  6. Story Monday April 16, 2018

Oh! That makes sense and explains the connection between the evaporating dewitchery diamond and other problems. Hopefully Rorschach's fumes. I mean, Ashley definitely should hope that.
  7. Story Monday April 16, 2018

Ok. This is just extending the cliffhanger, we still don't know what happened ... hopefully next time. So, after dealing with most important place, Arthur thinks about who else needs to be warned (and presumably how). Still, Arthur, if you are worrying about craters, you are thinking small. Think zoombie apocalypse, or some other infectious stuff. And something is happening to the shards of diamond? And is important enough to warrant two images? Although it still may be red herring. The crate being opened, meanwhile ... which is on OPPOSITE side from the one we were suspecting earlier ...
  8. Story Wednesday April 11, 2018

It seems likely to me that once magic has come to be well known in the main EGS universe, police will be equipped with wands capable of casting "stun" spells (much like the stun setting on Phasers) that only those with the most powerful of magic resistance can withstand. They probably won't need deadly spells - if deadly force really is needed, it's canon that guns work just as well on magic users as on everybody else... Yes. Police doesn't need magic to use against criminals, it already has guns. It only needs to be protected against magic users, and high resistance is the basic there (some shield spells would also be useful). The stun wands are bonus, as they are probably safer than tasers.
  9. Story Wednesday April 11, 2018

People gain spells tailored to who they are though, while cops who turn out to be wizards can learn specific spells, most other magic users would build their energy by using wands, but learn new spells based on their actions and personality, also the definition of "reasonable force" might have to be redefined to include what types of magic would be reasonable in certain situations or police brutality via magic might be a thing. Note that the goal might be to just have cops trained enough to have magic resistance, so they wouldn't be vulnerable to magic using criminals ; that might happen sooner than awakening.
  10. Story Friday April 13, 2018

True. Although Kirk's time travel in stolen Bird of prey, probably B'rel class is more known.
  11. Story Wednesday April 11, 2018

Hmm, a totalitarian state that was aware of magic would likely demand to see spellcasters' spellbooks. Demand, yes. The fact she has magic would be one of many things she's hiding both from her family and from the state. His biggest problem was bad marketing. Yes. Good point that she apparently expected her hammer experience working better when translated to swords. Although I suspect there are several movies which totally suggest swinging with swords like with hammers ... Based on what we know about magic, other students were DEFINITELY getting closer to awakening, BUT there was probably some additional problem causing them to move slower than Elliot or Justin (Nanase is clearly exception, her hereditary talent gave her enormous advantage). With the pressing need to raise people's magic resistance, teaching people who didn't get any abilities yet might be more important. I imagine his methods would be tested by giving him big class of policemen who will be ordered to attend ... which would be very hard test indeed. Of course, this will only be tried until they find some more reliable method.
  12. Story Monday April 9, 2018

Don't worry, it only took me few minutes. ... so do I. Is easy because we have very little facts. Or another game.... Most strategic games and many others allow player to start reign of terror ... meanwhile, only few allow him to start democracy build upon principles of liberty, equality and fraternity. Even the Sid Meier's Civilization with it's "totally democracy but you remain in control for several centuries" doesn't exactly look fair ...
  13. Story Friday April 13, 2018

A good point there. However, neither one is the record holder; that belongs to the 15E scream by Melissa here and recapitulated here. To be fair, both of Ashley's screams were spontaneous while Melissa needed to take a very deep breath before her scream. That is record for human ; however ... the Goo wins with 31E. Who said "Occam's razor" and when? Dan - I think he was tweeting something commenting this page ... That's also possible of course, but the way he doesn't even think about it seems more like he has some specific in mind ... note that he was NOT mentioning any other place with artifacts - and I don't think all artifacts from previous magic systems are here, although probably most of them. Also, the proper containment team would need MUCH MORE firepower. Plus quite a few things it can't. Those are the ones I am really worried about. I don't know, it seems to me it would have to be something Dan's imagination could come up with. Not really. First, something can happen off-panel. Second, Dan could ask for ideas on twitter/tumblr. I think it would be easy to prove that multiple people brainstorming can come with something noone's imagination would be able to come up with alone. Enterprise is not capable of time travel on her own, the borg sphere helped.
  14. NP Friday Apr 13, 2018

It definitely makes more sense than transforming further, because this way she has control over it. Why bother with narcotics when you have My Little Pony form?
  15. Story Friday April 13, 2018

Not so random. Monster makes more sense than artifact ; it definitely must be something which is dangerous by itself. The guard was not warned to not activate anything, even accidentally - he was said to GET OUT OF THERE. Therefore, Ashley didn't need to do anything careless: it was supposed to start making problems even when only professional being present. As for how why Arthur ordered it so fast and knew about it in first place? It might be something obvious; some sort of monster statue or guardian statue which was supposed to move but system change prevented it before ... and Arthur might've been already thinking about it here and making mental note "I need to do something with it immediately after waking up" ... EDIT: Regarding fighting it together ... maybe Ashley will use some other artifact against it as well.
  16. Story Friday April 13, 2018

... yeah, good point, Terra usually beats him so it wouldn't prove anything ... ... aaaand artifact activated. ... aaaand Sybil really cared. Are all assistants in DGB secretly loving their bosses? (Also, yup: falling asleep in middle of work and not responding to attempts to wake IS worth calling ambulance ... and Will of Magic is lucky no seer was driving when it decided to ask for their opinions.) And finally someone acknowledged that being able to spell that acronym is hard. Apparently, Arthur panicked pre-emptively. "Complete lockdown" might take too long. Arthur might have some idea about what kinds of artifacts might be activating there and decided to do something safer (orbital bombardment comes in mind) or, well, thinks it's better to not risk the guard waiting there until the team who is actually equipped for this gets near. And no, I don't think the team got there already. It's more likely the artifacts are activating - or, being already activated, now did something which Ashley noticed. I don't think Ashley would react this way to people, Abraham included. This is 9E scream and Sirlect got just 12E ... well, at least it's not worse than Sirleck.
  17. Story Monday April 9, 2018

I wouldn't be that polite. I'm SURE that's what happened in Russia. He grew up there, yes. However, I don't think there is any US government left. While it might be just general Shade Tail isolating Lord Tedd, there was sort of post-apocalyptic feel in those few images we got of their world. My speculation is that there was big war there, possibly related to magic reset. Maybe magic reset with five thousand seers ... And Lord Tedd became Lord not only because he has the power, but also because the population of US is just one tenth of before-war, and that's only because US-based seers like Lord Tedd and Lord Arthur (deceased ; no provable connection to Shade Tail ) won ; other countries ended worse (*cough* Moscow sea *cough*).
  18. Story Monday April 9, 2018

This is always the problem with a dictatorship of any size. If there's power to be had, people who want it will act however they must to get it. This is why many third-world autocracies are run by extended family of the dictator. If Lord Tedd wants people around him he can trust he may well have to give up the power that attracts untrustworthy people to begin with. Actually, there is another problem with a dictatorship you failed to take into account: giving up power is something which happens when you die. I don't think Lord Tedd CAN give up power and survive that. Well, maybe if he escapes to different universe. Also, it would be irresponsible. Most likely, general Shade Tail or someone even worse would fill the power vacuum. Even if Tedd's power is based on some tools he is able to destroy so they won't end up in bad hands, it wouldn't help. Moving from dictatorship to something at least resembling democracy is hard and require some group which can be trusted. (Most real cases of moving to democracy involve giving power to group which claims to be democratic and when it turns it wasn't, well, better luck next time. It can be seen fantastically on France.) Do we have reason to think Nioi actually trying to eject/eliminate Shade Tail? My memory of the few comics with Lord Tedd, Nioi or Shade Tail in them is a little hazy. It's certainly possible, however. Well her original motivation of coming to main universe was to find out if Dr. Sciuridae is alive there and knows how to defeat general Shade Tail ...
  19. Story Wednesday April 11, 2018

I'm not so surprised. In canon, Susan didn't actually fight with a sword until she killed the first vampire at the mall. I think the only other times Susan summoned a sword in canon were: In Sister when Susan summoned a sword during the second fight with the Goo, but didn't use it.) In Hammerchlorians, during the flashback to what happened in France and again to demonstrate to Sarah and Grace that she doesn't have the same sword. Earlier in Sister III when Susan found out there had been seven different vampires in Moperville. I think it might be worth noting that while Susan has "a couple" of swords, she didn't mention having an axe. Axes are a lot easier to come by than real swords. Why? Maybe because killing her first vampire with an axe has something to do with it. I'm pretty sure she's using her sword against Goo here, but you don't actually need to learn anything to fight against goo. She probably DID summoned the sword on other occasions but not for real fight, yes ... still, the reason why she has the swords in first place is because she's afraid more vampires will find her. For the same reason, it would make sense for her to learn how to use the swords. But there IS explanation, actually: maybe she DID tried to learn swordfighting by watching movies or something, and was confident it would be enough until she found it isn't. She DID mentioned she has some tools, and axes as WEAPONS are harder to find than swords ; what is easier to find are wood-cutting axes, which aren't good in fight, and fire-fighters axes, which might be usable but still counts more like tools ... ... yes, she might avoid axes due to her first vampire ... or because axes are HEAVY. It's also possible she DOES have axe in the trunk but doesn't want to talk about it. Also, EVERYONE knows that sword-fighting is a thing. The fact that fighting with battle axes allowed for more finesse than woodcutting is less known. Ellen admitting she would like to try might be little twist ... but I'm still waiting for the artifacts. I could also see the alternative of Susan somehow forcing herself into Hitlerjugend even if she would be first girl to do so. Her mother would support her at that, and she's scary. Yes. Nanase would be great for this, although it would mean she would get even MORE hiding spells. Obviously, she couldn't ask right after returning, but there must've been other occasions later which would be less suspicious. And I don't think her mother would take too much convincing to let Susan work on her self-defense skills. On the other hand, it was just two years and the classes might only open on start of school year ... I was just saying it may take few years. Nothing the will of magic did will make keeping secret that much harder. And Arthur Arthur already mentioned that the real secret is ACCESSIBILITY of magic, not existence. Sure, he had other plans, but it may be the best thing to do now - keep the secret just few years and prepare detailed plans for the inevitable revelation. Note the Arthur Arthur have big advantage now against all other governments who didn't have seers on meeting, and he likely WILL transform this to advantage for DGB (and presumably US). In reality, if just one event would change (but several generations ago), EVERYTHING would be different and noone resembling specific people in our universe would exist in that parallel one. Butterfly effect and stuff. But making same actors play their counterparts, just with more facial hair and different outfits, is easier for production AND allows more interesting plot for viewers. It is likely that Magus's universe magic is more researched. However, it's also completely different: the magic rules of his universe are likely different than in EGS main universe, making any comparison very difficult. I still don't believe he would have chance against Noriko. Magus's comment about not knowing how car works suggest that they indeed has less technology than we do. However, I would remind the Lina Inverse answer about gunpowder (paraphrased, can't find it): It's not worth working with it, as gunpowder based bombs and weapons are weak compared to magic based explosions. Sure, Lina Inverse's spells are very OP and Magus is unlikely to have that much destructive power, but still, developing technology to point where it's actually useful against magic user with fireballs - and magic SHIELDS - would be hard. And, yes, dragons might be impervious to non-magic weaponry. And the answer? The one who can combine both has ALWAYS advantage against someone who has JUST magic or JUST technology. (Although to counter Lina Inverse's Giga Slave you probably need some really heavy calibre. Maybe cosmic string?) Yes, I can see this. If he hasn't been exposed to the right kind of anime, find some with flying combat or throw in some superhero genre stuff. With enough exposure he will work out an extension system of flight-based martial arts. And probably also develop some sort of flying ability as well. That "insight" was probably his awakening. And I don't think he didn't saw any anime with flying combat.
  20. Story Monday April 9, 2018

Unless, as I keep suggesting, he was just pretending he doesn't care where Nioi is. YES. Nioi is nice to Lord Tedd. Sure, Shade Tail CAN say that she just pretends to be nice and wants to hurt Tedd, and he will probably be successful in convincing Tedd to get rid of her. BUT it will mean he shows Lord Tedd that pretending to be nice is possible. Shade Tail is in MUCH better position when Tedd isn't realizing that. She's at worse position because Lord Tedd will still default to Shade Tail, but yes: even if she builds up her relationship with Lord Tedd to point where he would default to her, she would still be vulnerable by this. Even the "Lord Tedd sees the truth himself" can be dangerous to her ; she needs him not only capable of recognizing Shade Tail is using him, but also confident enough to not fear everyone else is also using him after that. Which explains why she wants to sidestep the issue by getting rid of Shade Tail instead, despite the fact that it makes her manipulator AND it may even actually hurt their side.
  21. http://www.egscomics.com/egsnp.php?id=755 Ok. Susan basically admitted she would like to be under influence of the mental effect just to be able to admit she would like the rest of package as well. ... unless she will choose something even MORE skimpy.
  22. http://www.egscomics.com/egsnp.php?id=754 ... so, the liveguard is absolutely ideal for Susan. In fact, she may even decide to go with the swimsuit. Also, wouldn't she feel the hot less if she would have the hair braided? Or blond?
  23. NP Wednesday, April 11, 2018

It might be summer in NP, but it is January in main comics AND it was January in Sister I.
  24. Story Wednesday April 11, 2018

No they bollocking wouldn't. I don't see any version of Nanase or Susan tamely joining an organisation dedicated to turn them into good little obedient homemakers. At least, not planning to leave it intact. Actually Nanase would be FORCED to join by her mother. But anyway, the "girls" in that sentence were not supposed to speak about someone specific. I'm still surprised SUSAN didn't learned how to use sword properly. That new class wouldn't help, as it wouldn't cover ANY magic stuff, just ordinary martial arts. Definitely. But they might be too lazy for that again ... Not yet. While Will of magic gave up keeping the secrecy and adapted to magic eventually going public, DGB didn't gave up yet and would likely try to keep magic secret as long as possible even when they realize it wouldn't be that long. But eventually, yes ; if DGB won't employ Greg itself to train new agents (because it WILL need more agents now), soon he will be able to open again because his at least little controlled approach would be better than no control at all.
  25. NP Wednesday, April 11, 2018

You mean "more self conscious". Also note that the bare midriff clothes might be adaptable ... I mean, the clothes she had over them could actually be just open and not unclosable. (And, based on Grace and actually almost everyone else, it really WAS relatively warm January.) BTW, her purse.
