We do have Ellen stating that there are better ways for them to take advantage of Beta Tedd's dad being out of town, it's pretty easy to imagine that undressing would be just a part of what she had in mind. Exactly.
  2. NP: Friday January 20, 2017

... room? They are outside. I'm pretty sure there is grass visible on second panel. And you didn't address the argument of low chance that Rhoda wouldn't use her spell earlier if she would be marked that long.
  3. NP: Friday January 20, 2017

Physical contact was critical for creating the link. Catalina's proximity to Rhoda when she cast her disguise spell was what linked everything together Once again what I think happened: 1) Due to physical proximity, Rhoda casted her disguise spell both on herself and on Catalina. 2) Casting single spell on two already transformed people created the link. So, physical contact was necessary, but only indirectly. She wasn't near Rhoda on the HA HA HA HA ... I think that most likely, she marked Rhoda of-panel, that is we didn't see the situation. It wasn't that long before the boar, because she would be likely to cast it sooner, and that instance of her talking with Justing is April 11th while the boar is May 12th (and I think we didn't saw Rhoda between those two moments). So, both Justin and Dex were before Rhoda ... ... that would be even better than Catalina tripping.
  4. NP Wednesday January 18, 2017

Undress him? Technically, yes, but considering I mean "Ellen, dressed like this, with Beta Tedd", and considering what she would be doing AFTER undressing him ...
  5. Story Friday January 20, 2017

I made the joke. Me. Myself. Not Dan. I do not think Dan intended to make a joke about this. We've had a slight, um, humour ... malfunction ... but we're all fine here now. we're fine. How are you? And I though Ka-Elliot is reference to various Ka- (well ... mostly ka-girl) from Wotch ... We skipped SIX MONTHS. Even if we believe nothing else happened, we certainly missed: 1) Ellen teasing Elliot lot of times 2) Ellen having lot of dates with Nanase 3) Sarah being naked lot of times in front of Tedd and Grace 4) Tedd transforming to lot of various girls
  6. NP: Friday January 20, 2017

The enchantments on Rhoda and Catalina got linked because they were in extremely close contact. The contact definitely helped, especially if the disguise spell is normally self-only, but the main reason was that she casted one spell affecting two people already under some spells. The fresh spell is unlikely to create new link, but it's possible that the already existing link is THAT much aggressive. Not only unlikely, but also I don't see how would that link her. Wait. I see one possible option: if Rhoda would cast something on Kitty, but at the same time Catalina trips and Kitty trips over her and Rhoda ends up casting something on both. THAT would be extremely likely to link her to the whole mess.
  7. NP: Friday January 20, 2017

Rhoda could be finding herself wishing that she could do some kind of variant on stuff she already knows she can do. Depending on presentation, it could feel Deus ex Machina but I'd go with it if Dan makes a good joke out of it That's how he got away with it with disguise. It would need to be VERY good to not feel repeated. Actually, I think that IF that happens, it won't be because of WHAT Rhoda would do. Either it would be that whatever she casts ends up linking her, or she can't do it and will only THINK that's what happened when Pandora marks her and Rhoda's spell will activate Kitty's new spell. (Obviously, she could also link her by shrinking her, put her into pocket and then cast another spell, but that's too complicated, so I'm not counting that as possibility.)
  8. Story Friday January 20, 2017

What? "me time" http://www.egscomics.com/index.php?id=929 Yes I know. But what does it have to do with "Obi-Wan Ka-Elliot"? (Note: It's funny strip, because Ellen must still remember what he can be doing in bathroom and Elliot must know that, so one of them is pretending there.)
  9. NP: Friday January 20, 2017

If Rhoda uses a new and previously unknown spell it will be because it happens to match what she wants to do. If you don't have a spellbook, you luck into new spells when you accidentally cast them. So if Rhoda has a XYZ spell she doesn't know about, wanting to do something like XYZ to Kitty ought to cast the spell. But that's more likely to happen if she don't try to think about what the spells she knows about could be used. Also, after the disguise, it would feel too much as deus ex machina. Possible, but unlikely. She only talked about size changes. Definitely, but I think that's more likely if she tries one of her size change spells. (Still waiting for Pandora marking Kitty ...)
  10. NP: Friday January 20, 2017

Not true. Rhoda has a disguise spell. ... ok, all she can reliably do. Not sure if her disguise can be casted on other person. How can she PLAN to use something she don't know about? Also, yes, but I don't think she get any ... like ... I don't think she has any at current point of main story. Maybe later, if they decide to confront Elliot.
  11. NP Wednesday January 18, 2017

Well we are talking about teenagers, also, Mr. Dunkel's reaction when Elliot first went to his parents as a girl. Coming back a day later to ask if she could sleep over at Tedd's house, I imagine the first thing to pop into Mr. Dunkel's mind might have been that Elliot being a girl might have made her fall in love with Tedd. Because we have sooo many instances of Tedd Elliot shipping. And we have the fact that on the same night in an alternate reality, Ellen is sleeping over at Tedd's. Not necessary fall in love, just planning to have sex would be enough. Yup, seems that the theory about being afraid of Tedd making Elliot pregnant holds. Also, yes, I have trouble imagining what else could Ellen do with Beta Tedd clothed like this.
  12. Story Friday January 20, 2017

Yeah, that might be good idea. You know The Dan did leave it some what up in the air as to exactly how far Elliot and Ashley went in the changing room. Doesn't matter what they did, Elliot can't have sexual relationship with different form of himself. What? Sarah could easily have just waited till she got to school to tell Elliot about it. Maybe the texts are to at least give Elliot a heads up that Tedd's not doing too good. Or maybe Tedd's refusing to go to school and they need Elliot to go over talk to him. I just feel that the texts are Tedd related because anything else Grace and Sarah could tell him, Sarah could do so before class anyway. Doesn't solve the issue of it being too complicated to send by text. And it's too late for "let's meet somewhere before school", probably. Unless those texts are from yesterday and they wanted to meet him yesterday but he didn't noticed until now.
  13. Story Friday January 13, 2017

The plan to rescue Elliot from The Nest was called "Operation Zelda" and I don't see that being a reference to anything else but Legend of Zelda especially considering the chapter title page is one big Legend of Zelda reference. Oh. So I guess Dan only got the idea of only referencing real games out of canon AFTER this.
  14. NP: Friday January 20, 2017

Objectively, yes. But Rhoda may not be able to be objective about size. She's naturally short and her size may mix with her other insecurities. Making someone else short without their permission could seem worse to her than you. But ALL Rhoda can do is related to size.
  15. NP Wednesday January 18, 2017

Just because there was a reason doesn't make the reason good, or even not evil. Back when I played SCA I spent a lot of time in garb with out pockets and it sucks. Exactly. I'm even able to enjoy the look at those curves and still consider it bad. I would count that as clothes. As in, it's not bad having some piece of clothes without pockets if you compensate with other. After all, I don't have pockets on gloves, socks or hat. Yes, that was definitely too much. But retractable sunglasses built into the face don't make any sense! Depends on material, actually. It's also classic ... but yes, hard to imagine how that would work. That might have been a case of Elliot thinking about compensating for center of gravity too much, like how Justin kept thinking about how to walk as a female and thus had difficulty doing so. Not thinking about it = more natural movement = no pain. Yes, that's possible. Or generally, might get better when he got used to it. The emphasis was on "on a school night" and "while still a woman". It's quite possible Elliot's parents have let him sleep over at Tedd's house before on a Friday or Saturday night while male. Look at the punishment he got (or didn't get) - and how unphased were they with Ellen. Even Dan mentioned in the commentary that he has trouble believing Elliot's parents needed much convincing. Unless their real worry was that Tedd will get him pregnant. They did, after all, considered good that Elliot and Ellen don't share bed, despite the big gap between sharing bed and getting someone pregnant. Also, Elliot's idea of what is difficult might be skewed. Exact link? Might be worth adding on wiki. EDIT: found it.

Second panel fits "make Kitty smaller". Panel 1 isn't so much "enlarge Kitty's clothes" as it's really "shrink Kitty out of her clothes" but the effect is still the same. Shorter isn't smaller, those are two different spells, although the reason why would match, so maybe ... Already said what was bad on the "enlarge clothes" idea: just one target. Well as long as it's your cookies ... This is Rhoda, for whom size always matters.... It's also the fact that she'd be using a spell on someone without their permission. Though, of the three options given, just making Kitty shorter would be the least embarrassing to her. Yeah - enchanting someone without their permission can be bad, but if she already decided to do it, "shorter" seems like least bad option.

Who says "Kitty" is the name on her birth certificate? Maybe her legal name is Katherine, and Kitty is just such a long-standing nickname because of her catgirl obsession, that people think of her as "Kitty" instead. Dan? Sort of? If Kitty is NOT her legal name, then my theory that what matters is what the person CONSIDERS her name is important is valid. Exactly. Even if her name is Jane Smith, she could have been telling people, "Call me Kitty!" since she was three. An affinity-based name, not a name-based affinity. Positive feedback. Protective custody? It's more that Susan is afraid she will be hurt THROUGH Tiffany and that's why she keeps her under lock. ... I hope not but I'm afraid you might be right ...
  18. NP: Friday January 20, 2017

Wasn't that hard to guess if you evaluate it like this. The "enlarge bust" is only one he hit exactly. Apparently, the "make larger so she won't fit" wouldn't match the layout of store (in other words, she would fit regardless). Enlarge clothes wouldn't work as Rhoda can target just single object. But shrinking Kitty without clothes is similar. Not sure if I believe Dan he didn't considered it: even just little smaller would force her to stop unless she want to trip over own clothes, and might not be fatal wardrobe malfunction. I'm also not sure why making someone shorter would be bad if it would be just for few minutes. Hmmm ... what could be less invasive option? Would Rhoda's choice be what I proposed, enlarging something else and blocking path with it?
  19. NP Wednesday January 18, 2017

When Elliot was first transformed into Ellen, he complained about his back hurting. That was ONCE. Considering that neither Ellen again, anyone who she transformed not Nanase (who's not FV5 but got "magic boobs") ever complained ... unless you think Ellen got spine reinforcement when awakened. Hmmm ... that's actually also possible. But I like the idea of Tedd thinking about something like this. Finally, it was strip where Elliot said it was difficult to convince his parents to let him sleep over at Tedd's house on a school night. Elliot's parents. Seriously? Maybe the whole strip is noncanon.
  20. NP Wednesday January 18, 2017

Therefore, by wearing clothes without pockets, women are dehumanizing themselves. And forcing them into such clothes ... So, you don't care about pain of other worlds women? Personally, I like universes where even big boobs don't cause pain. Like EGS. I'm sure FV5 include spine reinforcement. But being able to hit target in pitch black dark on medium distance is worth it. Wait. I suspect this is not the sort of augmentations you speak about ... Among the reasons why I myself remain un-illustrated. I'm waiting for technology with better frame rate. Seriously, one frame per like how long it takes for lasered off tattoo to heal, year?
  21. NP Monday Jan 16, 2017.

Actually, yes, Susan's Nature seem to be Tiffany, but that was like only moment she surfaced ... unless SHE's the reason for Susan's long hair (I remember two comics referencing this: "you call this practical?" and "whoosh is adequately logical"). You see she didn't seriously try to resist when Nurture was dragging her away, she likely knows that it would only mean more severe beating. SHOULD be ... If it would be selected before birth and before the name itself, it wouldn't TRULY be name-based affinity, would it? (Note that I postulate that you get name based affinity by accepting the name as your own, which most children do quite a few months after birth.)
  22. Story Friday January 13, 2017

I think that Zelda was only referenced out of canon. Maybe he didn't. One point of parallel universes which "Sliders" referred in earlier episode (or was it earlier point in same episode?) was that there is no limit on how little could the realities differ (Azure Gate). Realistically, he has ZERO chance hitting his home reality by random. But it was good joke with the oiled door ... I've worked in the game industry. It sucks from every angle. You have Marketing lining up its resources months in advance aiming at an agreed-upon launch date. Miss that date and their resources get wasted. Also marketing sometimes tries to control the design process. Design can try to backdoor in features marketing didn't like and that's before we talk about the whole Technology-engine-coding-game-coding-qa feedback loop. Games are all experimental code. Based on code quality, I suspect all proprietary software development is close to this ... game companies look like extremes just because they have most experience, with the amount of completely new products they make ; most other software companies have just several programs and are making new versions.

You call that easy? Yearnings are something you stop having when you stop having them. If you decide to suddenly stop using name, it would take you some time before you stop reflectively answering to it. She wouldn't have that affinity. It's hard to imagine in case of Catalina, as the name obviously matches her - and it's question if it's effect of the name-based affinity itself or if she has some cat-like qualities independently. But Susan doesn't show any signs of Tiffany. If the name had any effect on her, she fought with it and won long ago. Note that if Catalina just changed name without the desire to stop using it, like, if she married and changed surname, it would still remain her maiden name (or, generally, former name) and would count into the name-based affinity. IMHO. In fact, this makes more sense than someone's affinity suddenly changing due to marriage because their legal name changed, doesn't it?

Hard to aim hand without looking. Also, trying to not look might be even more suspicious if they were keeping to look before. And finally, so what? PNG is loseless compression. More likely, the color filter did it (meaning, Dan draw the shop in background normally and then faded the colors with some filter).
  25. NP Monday Jan 16, 2017.

It's possible that heredity takes priority over name, but who knows for sure. While also possible, my point was that "Tiffany" wouldn't count as Susan's name because she's not using it unless forced to. There is still no motivation. Sure, it's more understandable why it's happening, but it still doesn't make sense WHY is magic doing it.
