As Noriko said, they did for her bloodline. She sounds as if Tedd was first child without magic in her bloodline, which is a sample size of 1. (Actually, 0, as Tedd had magic.) I think if she knew in advance how good Tedd will be with magic wands (so, basically what we knew just after Whales), it would be good enough for her. It was the magic analyzing wand reporting incorrect result which labelled Tedd failure. ( ... convinced why? ... just rhetorical, because we both know she had no reason we know of to suspect that)

Not to me. From sample size of 1, very little can be concluded. If the goal would be specific gender, then yes the trials are independent. She believed that another magical bloodline would be better than normal person. No reason to change that belief, especially if data she based on it still holds (possibly her father and her mother father, if her "magic user bloodline" was female). People from know magical bloodline in acceptable age and single are likely not so common. Just trying to get one randomly would definitely result in lower chance than another try with Edward.

That doesn't explain the "frustrated dreams" parts. And there is no clear line of fanatism - that's why it's so easy to cross it. For person who would walk out from marriage because the child is not good enough, it WOULD be statistical trial. ... I think that traumatizing him didn't required as many tries as you imply. I agree with this, however ... ... this is speculation. People may do something because it's rational or because being emotional. Walking out just because child doesn't have magic doesn't look as either to me. It needs either another rational reason or some additional emotion.

It seems reasonable to me. I can certainly see how it would apply. It may be correct but without canon confirmation it's just impression. Also, even if driven by guilt, it can be unconscious thing. ... and about that overworking, I suspect both him and Noriko had great talent to get lost in their work even before the divorce. He's no-nonsense and down to earth NOW. I can see him calling a marriage off or kicking his wife out - obviously not so easy as in that scenario, but after long fights and fatal disagreements about how the marriage should look and maybe how will they care about Tedd ... then feel guilty about it, trying to compensate it to Tedd and get better in general, becoming the character we know now. Another not-confirmed but likely piece of their fights might be that Edward considers what Noriko do (or HOW she do it) too dangerous and fears she get herself killed. In most family fights, the problem is on both sides, although not necessary equally. I agree that Noriko seems more in fault than Edward, but exactly because we don't know much about her I would like to give her benefit of doubt and wait for her side of the story. Mrs. Kitsune grudge is definitely too much. We have "dots" pointing to Noriko not being so bad, starting with the fact she fights monsters, not becaming one herself. Or the fact that she married Edward and that Adrian Raven though he could've saved that marriage if he would be better teacher. If she would "be problem", Adrian would likely notice ... and perhaps he would side with Edward and be on more friendly terms with him now.

Maybe he blames himself because he started with stuff like "he will always be your son" too late, that most of training was about magic and too little about healthy balance between work and family. What if it was Edward who didn't agree? What if he had (not completely unjustifiable) worry that Tedd wouldn't get enough mother love even with Noriko in house? What if Edward decided to not risk another baby without magic with possibility of ending alone with two babies? Noriko: "We need to make another baby, this one is defective." Edward: "And what if it also wouldn't have magic?" Noriko: "Uh ... third time's a charm?" Edward: "Out. And don't dare to come back." (Presumably, not in these exact words, because if it went like this then both would look worse than if Noriko just gave up on Edward.)

I would imagine that records showing date/time of birth and anything pertaining to Diane herself, any tests or vaccinations, etc, would be easy to get and would likely be required for the adopting parents to have. It would just be anything pertaining to Diane's biological parents that would be kept confidential and would require special circumstances, and probably a court order, to let anyone see them. While likely, we are not sure if anyone looked yet. There may be circumstances which would allow all existing records be based on one piece of paper (birth certificate) which came with Diane and noone bothered to double-check it against any local database. I would suppose that background check by DGB would find it suspicious, but normal clerks are unlikely to be that dutiful. Maybe someone from her birth family told her adoptive parents ... and then disappeared. (Not before their eyes, presumably.) No reason to doubt such information. If she was conceived in parent's home dimension, her mother arrived in EGS dimension pregnant, then had accident and died in hospital without regaining consciousness, what would happen with the baby? Would be adopted of course. I don't think anyone would even suggest to let the baby die because mother had no or fake (not matching database) ID, and there would be no way to contact any possible other relatives. Or that, obviously.

The most obvious issue with this is that she has no reason to assume any other child she would have with Verres would be also powerless. It would make sense to try at least once more. Maybe girl would be better? More likely, she and Ed Verres had a fight - I mean quarrel, not really battle - and decided their idea about their marriage is not compatible. Tedd likely wasn't only reason, although it probably was one of reasons; Noriko obviously saw him being powerless as bigger problem than Edward.

Multiple magic resets are just one possible example of how one immortal can wreak havoc with other Immortals "projects". The immortal laws seem as a way to regulate access to shared resource all immortals want to play with, namely humans. I also don't think it's the rules which caused them to be bored in old age. More likely, they get more bored and more insane even before and the destruction their more and more complicated attempts to have fun caused was one of reasons why the laws were adapted, as a way to limit the damage. Now, due to laws, they either find out there is no way to get fun within rules themselves and reset, or they don't realize it and get reset by others. Magic doesn't want to be mainstream because it's a jerk and butt face. We have it from good source. There may be some connection between Ancients agreement and Magic being public, but I don't think it's as simple. More likely, there are multiple reasons why the situation is different and I wouldn't rule out "bad" reasons - magic's objectives may not necessary be something we would agree with, it may even be something like "with magic public, there wouldn't be enough suffering". (It seems more likely there will be more suffering, but who knows.) Still, it is a viable hypothesis. Admittedly she was born here according to the record, but there is something unexplained going on. I'm going to mark it down as at least 'conceivable.' SUSAN was born here. It's possible that while Susan is local, Diane is her alternate from other dimension. And this is not nearly first time I talk about this option.

Based on the limited number of 8 year olds I've been in contact with in the last 30 some odd years, while they may be used to stuff being hidden, that doesn't stop them from trying to find out what is hidden and why. Of course, once they find out, they may or may not have a context to understand why this thing, what ever it was, was hidden from them. I don't have that much experience with 8 years old either, but I would assume they may not understand why it was hidden but are clever enough to not immediately show that it was not hidden good enough. She may not be continuing the practice herself, but I still think she's been subtly training Nanase. At the very least making sure Nanase has proper discipline, something that Noriko might not have had. Only thing which is subtle on her training of Nanase is the goal of training. Yeah. Should reverse the importance she gives to those two things. Although to be fair, we don't know what exactly happened - or IS happening. With the way Edward is hiding truth from Tedd, we can't rule out she WANTS to return but is forbidden to.
