Neither -- in fact, none -- of your arguments negate my main point, which is that this absurd kill or be killed mentality you seem to posit as a necessity for survival is the exception and not the rule. I think you see me more extreme that I am. I agree that the "kill or be killed" situations are rare. I'm just saying they are not so rare to not happen to "everyone" (on every genetic path) when you look over whole history. Because those "long stretches of time". (Although, this is statistics. Even if we (or I) knew much more about history than we do, it wouldn't be possible to PROVE no such genetic path exist without examining all of them.) They were famous because it was exception and not a rule - I mean, the fact the militia in the early days of America was so good was not only noteworthy, but a reason which made them famous. To borrow the vikings again, if viking attacks were usually met with answer from professional militia, they wouldn't be doing it often enough to get famous with them. Depends on where you start calling it politics ... I think that politics is evolving, getting more complicated - and usually more useful for the politicians and less for the group he's leading. Of course, statistically, over time - not in the "all politicians in same period are same" sense, that would be easy to disprove. Before current advancement in technology, the "commanding from afar" was implemented by having "military chief" or generally the hierarchy of command (or chain of command if you look on just one line). There was some "smaller" leader, officer, who were doing the "local" command over area related to how high he was in hierarchy ... and then there were political leaders, who were on top of that hierarchy and didn't really need to be present on site of battle. In history, the chain of command is getting longer (statistically) in time, even if just because bigger population (and/or bigger army) is necessary for longer chain. Someone in middle of the chain have considerably less choice in peaceful solutions or the amount of violence he will order to be employed compared to the political leaders. (I feel like stating the obvious, but hopefully it will explain what I meant better ...)

So what? It's not that SHE will be buying something. She will be looking at others buying stuff. Probably trying to predict what will they buy and hope they will surprise her or something like that. Or it's because it will be good opportunity to mark someone. Called it. It IS good opportunity to mark someone. Although I didn't predicted the "far less subtle spells" angle - I though that other time of year would be harder to mark them with ANYTHING. But seems Pandora is choosing what to mark people with. You are never too old for trick-or-treating. They solved that - there was nothing supernatural on it. She went - we got it as strip ... wait ... this one I meant. Sure, it's sketchbook, but it still may be canon We know why. It was fun and it helped her in her quest to reveal magic. She could provide them even with Molotov cocktails and it would still be within the rules. Not nice thing to do, of course, but within the rules.

...maybe 168 hours has some mystical significance in EGS...more likely it's just an impressive way to say a week though... Wouldn't explain Greg, but personally I find more normal to say H hours, M minutes than A weeks, B days, C hours, M minutes ... although, I would probably prefer D days, H hours, M minutes to both alternatives in this case (so 7 days, 32 minutes, 23 seconds).

IMHO only good guy here is Grace. Just a reminder, chaos isn't always evil. Not saying Pandora is or isn't evil, just chaotic. She didn't lost her "good guy" status because she's chaotic. She lost it because I'm not convinced she will place lives of people hight enough in her plan. Case in point, she wanted to kill Abraham. It's one thing if Adrian would kill him in self-defense, it's another if Pandora wanted to kill him when he was already neutralized as a threat. I'm also not completely convinced that what she did with Dex was safe ... hmmm ... wait, do we have confirmed it was her? Maybe someone tried to frame her ...

Mutual. People were generally expected to help with protecting the community, when the need arise. They prayed it won't happen, sure, but they couldn't rely on professionals arriving in minutes if necessary. ... barely not-sacrificed no-longer-virgin, more likely ... The thing about long stretches of time is that you can easily find multiple things in them. It's surprising how many tools not only common, but necessary for hunters, farmers and craftsmen are acceptable-level weapons. Although ... ... it's true that todays tools are much more effective in killing. Like the mentioned car. (I don't think steel steak knife is that more effective in killing the first person compared to less advanced knife. Sure, it will stay sharp longer, if you plan to kill more people ...) In fact ... maybe the current society trying so hard to convince people to not kill is NECESSARY reaction to how easy would be to kill someone ... Sure not systematically. I still find quite likely there was some killing before the people felt forced enough. ... which might involved killing some people who didn't liked it ... But if your point is that conflicts were generally solved without one side being eradicated, then yes, true. Nice example is that after Trojan War, the Trojan survivors escaped to Italy and later founded Rome. Some Greeks might've regret they weren't more systematic later ...

... so, Genghis Khan or one of his soldiers might be between your ancestors as well? (I mean, they certainly did attacked Russia ...) ... well, originally I was referring to time period before smiths. Although ... ... I think that finding a straight line of ancestors who managed to avoid all wars even after year 1 would be hard. My point was that we are spoiled by society we lives in. Of course, today it makes much more sense to contact police, especially considering how badly are common people trained to fight AND how easy contacting police is since the cellphones. But it used to be very different. Fight inside your group, sure. Fight outside your group? Well, you aren't so likely to benefit from genes from outside your group, are you? Is Undine even your species? You generally have some options before you get into the "kill or be killed" situation. First, you can escape, if the space is open enough and you are fast enough. You can negotiate (talk). And if the space is not open enough and enemy is not open to negotiation, you can try to use force but not kill - but at this point, you should accept that it can end up with killing the enemy. Especially if you have little or no experience with how to fight without killing. If you will try to make sure enemy will survive, then you failed to make sure you survive. The main reason that more violence is practised than warranted is that the violence is applied on incorrect people. For example, common soldiers instead of politicians who send them to fight. But this is also historically new: before invention of politics, the tribe leaders WERE part of the fight, and often in the front.

She asked Adrian. He didn't wanted. She continues regardless. What makes you think Disco Wizard wouldn't be lying to her face? IMHO only good guy here is Grace. I think Pandora and Disco Wizard would automatically leave her head, but I'm not sure. I certainly hope so. Disco Wizard would certainly leave, as he can only talk with her in dream. Pandora, on the other hand ... Note that without that new spell, Nanase wouldn't be able to get close enough to Abraham to be in any risk. Ellen, on the other hand ... What makes you think Pandora is preferentially marking Tedd's friends? She marked Tedd, Justin and Sarah. That's three from eight, and I'm not sure if Tedd counts. It's possible there is nothing special about that ratio and that she already marked 35% of Moperville high school students. Judging Pandora for her actions can get weird if you realize that in the point she told Magus, she might've already predicted that she wouldn't be able to make anyone kill Abraham. Did she really put anyone in danger if she predicted with 95% they will survive? Or maybe 99.9999% ... (that's the precision she predicted her sleep with).

Some of mine did. I still exist. Not many of them, I would assume. Or they were close ancestors. Considering you are Danish, you are likely to have lot of vikings between ancestors, aren't you? Those weren't exactly known for their pacifism. (Although ... considering WHEN was the gold age of vikings, I might have as many of them between my ancestors as you do. I mean, it's 30 generations and Europe isn't that big ... especially considering the fact vikings sailed around most of it.) Yes. And I didn't played the game, but someone trying to kill me with magic spears doesn't look like "the best" ...

If your ancestors would have the same opinion on self-defense as you do, you wouldn't exists. It was nice from Grace to try for better outcome. But she was lucky Adrian had gun ready.

Or it's because it will be good opportunity to mark someone. Agree. All good questions, but I suspect it's the "knocks herself out" one. Like ... when she predicts nothing interesting will happen, she goes to sleep ... Also note how she measured how long she was sleeping. Internal chronometer? Pandora sleeps. If sleep will be only for the weak, WHO will be strong?

Possibly he's strong enough to forcibly eject the average Immortal (putting him on par with Agent Wolf) and just momentarily forgot exactly which Immortal he was threatening. I think it was more he didn't NOTICED than that he forgot. ... or that. It may be an unwarranted assumption, but it's not odd that we assume exposition given by a character is correct. It's because it's such a common device in fiction going back a long, long way. Shakespeare has tons of it, particularly in his historical plays, where there are battles that wouldn't fit into the theater. In radio it can hardly be avoided unless you have an anonymous narrator. There are exceptions. In a mystery, you can hardly avoid having different stories from different people or it wouldn't be a mystery, would it? But, still, you expect the detective to be telling the truth as he or she sees it. In fiction, you can generally assume that exposition from character is correct unless there is specific reason why it shouldn't. In reality, what people say is rarely correct even if they don't lie, because even if they know, they are likely to forgot something. Even if he wouldn't, Edward Verres said he should - if the immortal would be playing fair. I suspect they will NOT see the spell being cast. For the same reason why magic power of immortal can't be sensed. Here.
-
Sorry. Fixed. Exactly.
-
No disagreement then, it's definitely possible to hurt or force-reset immortal. The properly phrased question is "How many charts for this does Edward have?" While likely, we doesn't have confirmed that Edward knows about immortals reseting. Yup, not everyone is as crazy as Claire Bennet. So far, none of our weapons is more likely to kill something than core of Sun. So, if immortals tested that Sun can't kill them ... ... of course, that's PHYSICAL weapons. With them being able to retreat to astral plane, magic weapons are more likely to work.

Maybe it was just specifically Pandora who considered it not important. Or maybe it was "lost" due to improper deaths and not really sharing that information ... ... jup, seems extremely likely. Wait what? PANDORA? Sleep-teaching sounds more likely than him not having the power. That, or him using power would be rude. ANYONE can change someone else with (pre-programmed) TF Gun. Grace is even able to program it. I'm not convinced that Disco Wizard would actually win if he didn't hold back, but it's true that 1) he doesn't know Pandora is also likely to hold back 2) it's possible Pandora doesn't need to hold back that much - both "because she can do more without damaging Grace" and because she can afford at least to make few holes in Grace's memory, while the Disco Wizard needs Grace to remember current dream as much as possible.
-
Nothing about destroying him. Again, nothing about destroying the immortal. Yes, sounds very likely. The chance may not be that big - even if he tried to repeat it, there are 200 years for someone to convince him it's not so good idea. Also, imagine Pandora remembering that she didn't reset due to child. Which she now barely recognize. Doesn't look like reason to go crazy again, does it? That's possible. Although the people around them might be against this "natural dead". It's interesting that Pandora is MUCH older than the recommended 200 years. Seems that those 200 years contain BIG safety margin.
-
... what Jerry said about the fallout? You mean the likely to destroy ourselves and take a bunch of innocent beings with us? That might talk about mortals. Although it suggest that the crazy immortal is able to destroy (and not just kill improperly) himself, so it IS possible immortals can destroy each other ...

Actually, memories implanted by the nose-beep which were only reindexed while she slept. Nioi wasn't even in EGS universe when Ellen "dreamed" her second life. There is theory that dreams are subconscious trying to make sense from fragments of memories being transfered to long term memory. Apparently, in Ellen's case it wasn't fragments.
-
NOONE is in every story. Agree. And he might even move to primary. People who don't have magic but still have inside knowledge ... like Sarah ... ups. With Pandora marking people left and right, having someone around her grand godson NOT having magic doesn't really make sense. Hard to mark? Challenge!
-
For the same reason she has head and two eyes (although she MIGHT have four eyes in this form). Her default form was certainly based on humans. Being born from egg doesn't mean there was no placenta. Also, her having belly button in HUMAN form isn't really relevant, as the form she was born in was half-squirrel. Note that Blaike didn't seem to complain. Of course, she wasn't crazy back then.

Waaait ... if you are spambot, you don't HAVE DNA. And apparently not available to young people.
-
Once you get in double digits for the main characters, I think just saying "main cast" is enough. Then you get to argue about who is mane cast and who is a back ground pony. Actually, even in time of Main 8 establishment, it could've been argued Edward is ALSO main character, but was not part of the "circle of eight".
-
I wasn't aware it was fan originated ... does it means that Greg dating Vladia wouldn't happen unless fan would speak about it enough?
-
He probably have advantage against ordinary trespassers ... but this is PANDORA. He likely underestimates her. True. Could be funny if watched from far enough. Actually, it seems that Disco Wizard blocked Pandora from seeing Grace - which might also blocked Grace from seeing Pandora. Or he's been picked by someone or something presenting him/her/itself as "Magic itself." And DW doesn't say he was picked directly; he said on behalf of. Yup. Personally, I find hard to believe that he was actually chosen by magic itself. That would mean the "mind of magic" is too normal. Someone lying to him - or HIM lying - seems more likely.
-
No way. First, I think we don't stop saying "Main 8" just because there will be more of them. Second, Diane is not only character on way inside Main 8, so if we would be renumbering, something like Main 11 would make more sense. Likely, they grow at normal rate and don't age at all. While humans age from start, although it's less obvious when they are still growing. Akiko's magic talent might be less visible to aberrations than the magic weapon thing. Might.

Grace is flying using telekinesis. I don't think it's low-concentration enough to be possible while sleeping. Except it's quite likely Raven is also much HARDER target for possession. It is, with one of the complication being the timeframe. Pandora's "entering dreamscape" ability might be too slow to catch that spell. That was normal dream - except that he cast the spell in dream and it happened in reality.
