Well, it wasn't said that Grace defeated him in physical combat (which, frankly, seems unlikely - she would have the strength but wouldn't be likely to use it). Maybe getting him confused WAS the defeat? ... that might work. Don't magical girls usually have ranged attacks? Grace would definitely LIKE being magical girl, she has the personality for that, but her abilities don't match and she can't even use magic items.

Actually, if TF gun is involved, there is no reason to worry ... Are you SURE she missed this? Although it's true that trying to observe both might be taxing even for her ... ... this really needs to be tested. As if Tedds tech wouldn't already be OP. If we assume that there are humans on their world, there is no reason for them to make up names just for this world. Either they normally speak in English (which is still understandable despite developing independently for few centuries, just like most Americans can still understand Brits) or they speak in English WITH HUMANS on their half of universe and have alternate names for that. (Note: why English? Because Avalon, of course: the legend suggest that they was contact between the griffins half of world and Britain around 5th or 6th century.)

that also assumes it's the "acts like a doorway" type of portal, not the "cast here to teleport" type. I don't think it matters for the fairy spell. But if it does, it may only be WORSE. Also, how will Sarah react to finding out her sister have magic and didn't told her? (Assuming she really does, as we suspect since http://www.egscomics.com/index.php?id=2114 ). That is definitely reason to not tell her. Also, they don't seem to be THAT close anyway.

I would guess that the one he is bounty hunting JUST NOW is either Grace or someone she needs to progress in game. Maybe the guy from previous strip? It sort of works if everybody is drinking ... but not at all if only you do. ... you need to drink for that? If anything he's drawing attention to how ridiculous it is I still don't consider it most ridiculous thing ... at least until you add that apparently you can get better in persuading ROBOTS by drinking. And wearing sexy clothing. ... also, CONSUME copies of a particular book? Like, really eat them?
  5. Story: 2016, April 4th (Monday)

Definitely. With the GPS explained this way, there is no reason ANY other phone functionality to not work. Actually, he MAY be able to do it SAFELY. He would, however, be able to open the car, as THAT is usually remote functionality. His other forms can't merge with phone, just the superhero one. ... for now at least. Just note, it doesn't seem you can actually LOSE ability, but yes, the more you use an ability the more likely is that you get another similar one. ... worth trying. Although probably not. Also, remember that even Wolverine mentioned that his claws HURT him when extending. Of course, considering he has several female forms AND Ashley who is likely not only ready to try anything but will have several additional ideas, he is not likely to need it. Matured AND got Grace. There is also Batmobile. Also, Michael Knight had a car- ... no, I don't thing this kind of cars counts.
  6. Story: Friday, April 1st 2016

Agree: the distance Nanase would need to project to will likely be to the portal and from portal to Griffins. We don't know where the portal is - or how big is Nanase range - but it won't be close AND there is the issue of portal needed to be opened. (Although I'm sure they CAN teach her how to open the portal, they may not have time for that, and the portal likely can't be kept open for long anyway.) The page titles ALSO have the titles. Hmmm ... how could the next two dates be as interesting as this one ... I guess that just turning Sam male wouldn't be enough, but maybe if his gender isn't only thing Sarah will notice? Perhaps they will meet Carol? .... and regarding Justin/Luke, they will obviously meet rest of Luke's group, but that also wouldn't be enough, unless someone of them will have awakening and without Jerry's serenity spell they will get lot of collateral damage ... hmmmm ... nah. Still not enough. Also, not sure how those two dates could get together as Ellen's and Elliot's date did.

I'm pretty sure Fallout is not one of those games.
  8. Story: Friday, April 1st 2016

Diane doesn't know where Susan lives, I guess she could go to Tensaided's video store and hope Susan's got a shift that day. Sending her a message through the review show, might make Susan rethink her view of the person who defended Elliot against the gay rumours. Diane had already told Nanase that she'd be interested in meeting Susan, well she was mainly wanting to meet Elliot but grudgingly agreed that meeting Susan "would be lovely", I'm thinking that since she now has a more important reason for meeting Susan, she'll press Nanase and Ellen into setting up a meeting. I was thinking of meeting her in school. But you're right, it would be weird to try that before trying to set up a meeting. Maybe later if she would get feeling Nanase and Ellen don't WANT her to meet Susan. She had one advantage over "random person": there is obvious reason why she could want to talk to Susan - and by "obvious" I mean "clear on first look".

There is option missing, obviously. Darth Wader would look at the man in a way which would make him escape. But yes, binary choices can't really help looking stupid, because the world is not binary. He may not be trustworthy, but you can trust him Why not? She's player. She's not in real danger.

... I'm not surprised it bit her.
  11. Story: Friday, April 1st 2016

... you think she will let him go alone if she wouldn't? This doesn't seem like something Grace would like to miss. I can totally imagine most people only going there to see the griffins (or, well, Wolf can go as firepower in case something bad happens) and only Nanase, Tedd, Edward and Raven actually talking. Plus, it is possible something else was said but not shown in comics because not being important for US. ... or this. ... "about"? She may decide to confront Susan directly instead. You know, it actually wouldn't be a bad idea. It certainly wouldn't be possible for Nanase to contact the griffons in their half of the world as she's never been there, but if they kept the doll with them when they came back, as long as Nanase remembers, she can try to contact them when she thinks they should be back in Moperville, so she could let them know she hadn't forgotten about the meeting and decide where to go from there. If inhabiting existing fairy she doesn't need to know WHERE it is, see http://www.egscomics.com/index.php?id=1008 ... but the general idea is good: even if Nanase wouldn't be able to contact griffons on their half of the world for any reason, the fairy will still be useful when they return.

We can't be sure, of course. But all stuff you - or them - mentioned COULD be information hundreds years old.

Any chance for editation not being white on white background? (except in source mode)
  14. Story Monday March 28, 2016

Requiring same version of "base code and software" is much stricter than the "same dialect" one - and still, there are bugs proving it is not always the case. On the other hand, those are BUGS. It's not deliberate, the coding languages are not SUPPOSED to work that way. And opinion of some language pundits notwithstanding, the spoken language ARE supposed to work that way. If you try to describe version of spoken language as strictly as a programming language is usually described, you will end up with language versions spoken by three people. Wait, one just diverged. But note that tone (which specifies sarcasm) is part of language and slangs are different versions (dialects). Best examples for something with different views are sentences like they saw a girl with binocullars - those are hard to parse correctly even WITH context. Nevertheless, if this is what Matoyak talked about, he didn't explained it clearly.

Well, I though that discussion about nuclear war IS sort of related to Fallout: New Vegas ...
  16. Story Wednesday March 30, 2016

What made you think Griffins are not modern? As much time passed since Arthur on their half of world as on EGS's one. Also, I think most people would agree that reading books is more nerdy than playing video games. (Note that "it was just feeling" would be valid answer.) Exactly. The flashback is cute, but it's pretty easy to guess what that "whoops" meant even without seeing it.
  17. Story Monday March 28, 2016

Uh-huh...? I'm very uncertain as to your point. Rigid doesn't mean "unchanging over time", it means "not flexible". Uh? Sure, English is not my first language, but I'm also uncertain as to your point. Based on wikipedia (also some dictionary, but those are less reliable), a rigid body is an idealization of a solid body in which deformation is neglected. In other words, the distance between any two given points of a rigid body remains constant in time regardless of external forces exerted on it. Which also sounds as "not flexible". Anyway, if your point is that rigid means "more rigid" instead of "totally rigid" or something like that, then read my post as trying to be more specific instead of disagreement. Sure, MOST programming languages are changing slower than spoken languages, but the important part of difference isn't the speed, it's the fact that spoken languages change continuously, while programming languages changes in discrete steps (or sometimes jumps). And, usually in centralized way (there may be more that one centre, but spoken languages don't have ANY). And as already mentioned, explicitly.
  18. Story Wednesday March 30, 2016

I have a feeling that griffins don't exist on the EGS half of the world at all. However, I don't think Andrea and Tara broke any rules by coming to this side. Griffins and humans are clearly equals in their half of the world and since Andrea is a mage scientist, she was an ideal choice to send investigate a magical problem. She was probably told to remain hidden, though. To clarify, the rule I speak about wouldn't be about griffins specifically ; it's just that if no such rule exists, griffins (and possibly others - maybe there are dragons or unicorns on their half) would be likely more known on EGS's half. Instead, it seems that just like on our world, they are only mentioned in legends, which can be explained by fact they are not visiting in last few centuries.
  19. Story Wednesday March 30, 2016

There very obviously isn't: it would be more visible on EGS half of world. Unless Edward Verres is even better that he shown. Also, currency exchange? Modern currency is not easy to obtain without official, bureaucratically confirmed identity. Although ... sending some HUMAN through would definitely help.
  20. NP, Wednesday March 30, 2016

I never thought about this, but you're right. I'm glad I live in a society where my pacifism has never truly been challenged. Enjoy it while it lasts. Looking at news, it may turn worse. Personally, I don't consider myself pacifist, but I'm still glad I live in a society where I'm not forced to prove the difference. In real life, there is a big gap between not being pacifist and actually being able to kill someone who is dangerous to you or others. (Although Samuel Colt did a lot to bridge it.)
  21. Story Wednesday March 30, 2016

Even if he wouldn't, I'm sure he need to abide by local agreement. Good point. I was going to object that if it was that long ago, she wouldn't remember now either, but that can be explainable by the stress ... It's definitely too funny to edit out, but on the other hand, yes, spending entire strip on it feels wasteful. We don't know what exactly was the immortal saying to her. It's possible she WAS careful enough, at least on beginning. We still don't know why aren't griffins more common on EGS half of world, or why did griffin go to do the investigation instead of human. It's possible they actually broke some kind of law or rule by coming here and Andrea only risked it because it was supposed to be very quick AND because it seemed important. That she would never go to EGS half of world normally, much less Tara.
  22. Story Monday March 28, 2016

In a programming language you can't suddenly decide to change the meaning of a key word. You can't change what the language considers as a scope limiter. They're ALL rigid in that you have to conform to the language specifications, or if you wish not to, then create a new version of the language / a new language outright. You can't just decide that the keyword "final" means "ironically final" or "actually first" (like for example what happened with "literally" or "awful" in English). You'd have to change the language definitions itself, and it would be a conscious, explicit change, which is not close to normal for how spoken and written languages change. You say they are rigid, but you speak about the fact that they change in discrete steps (called "versions"), whereas spoken languages changes continuously. (Also, yes, in most languages the change is more explicit.) ... and in most cases, the cat is completely superfluous, as the thing you pipe it's output to is already capable of reading files.
  23. NP, Wednesday March 30, 2016

Well, being true pacifist IS hard. Any pacifist who think it isn't is spoiled by our civilization. Sooo ... how exactly would that strategy of "help them kill something while letting them get the actual "kill"" work? I mean, are those NPC competent enough to be able to actually kill the enemy when you help them?
  24. Story Monday March 28, 2016

Which programming language is absolutely rigid? At least some programming languages directly say what version of specifications they are supposed to be compiled with. You think there are parallels between spoken languages and this kind of intentionally obscure and hard to program in languages?
  25. Story Wednesday March 30, 2016

Soooo ... Andrea is bad at navigation and Tara forgot important knowledge about place she's traveling to. I would blame that on their bird brains, but humans didn't shown to be that much better in remembering stuff either. (I don't remember ever forgetting something as important - wait a sec ... ). The "significant part of the story could have been avoided if someone had just remembered something they'd already been told" happens very often, but usually it's because scenarists (or writers) forget too.
