Wouldn't save the freezing fusion or warp teleport. The action in those movies is good. The science is not. Star Trek also had some issues, starting how easy is to get to past if it's convenient, but nothing this bad. By the same logic, Elliot's dated Grace, and Tedd, and Sarah's dated Tedd, and Grace has dated Nanase and Ellen, and Tedd has dated Nanase and Ellen. And Susan was dating Elliot. there's a whole map of it. Yes. And readers are not forgetting that either as you see.

Remember that the puzzle is DESIGNED to be traversable by people transformed to gecko. I don't think they makes the colors too small. Also, while it's not visible clearly, I think that there ARE some lines on wall showing where the boundaries are, so it's really just about knowing which square has which color.
  3. NP Friday Nov 16, 2018

Red-Green. Makes more sense, those are very close in spectrum so it's actually pretty hard to identify them as separate colors. Except when seen directly next to each other ... Aaand Dan "desaturaded" the colors as if it would be something that works in general. Desaturation actually only works on monitor. With physical color and colorblindness, you need to carefully pick shades which would give same response IN EYE OF TARGET. (In expected lighting conditions - that may cause some variance as well.) We already spoke about (some) women seeing more colors, and same mechanism actually mean different people may see different red. And Gecko? Or enchantment done to cause the color-blindness on purpose? The cone response for different wavelengths might be completely different. If he would draw the pattern with different greys and just said that Nanase see them identically it would be more believable than that the colors which match on monitor matching for Nanase. ... of course, not drawing the pattern was the goal here, so ... it randomly worked? Isn't Twister game only played by children and drunk adults?
  4. Sketchbook Nov 15, 2018

Dan mentioned somewhere (probably Twitter, if you don't remember it from the commentaries) back when "Grace-a-Monsters" was still ongoing that since Justin had orange hair and a fire Grace, and Ellen had green hair and a plant Grace, Nanase Bubbles with her water Grace ought to have blue hair. However, it was never actually mentioned in the comic, and unless I'm forgetting something this is the first time we've seen her (or any other Grace-a-Monster character) in color. Actually I vaguely remembered something like that, but I checked the commentaries and get less certain ... but yeah it could've been twitter. Or patreon. Where did it say red-blue in the NP? Dan only states that the colourblindness is was given to Nanase for the purpose of the puzzle, and not related to being gecko'd. Uh. Sorry. I meant that red-blue was specifically mentioned in the NP topic thread. Anyway (spoiler) Dan actually went with red-green.
  5. Story Fridayday November 16, 2018

Teenagers. Although I suppose even couple of five years old would manage that.
  6. Story Fridayday November 16, 2018

I don't think there is SINGLE movie like that, however it reminds me Lara Croft and her navigation orb, the Golden Compass and also Jack Sparrow had compass like that ... also, yes, major movies are rarely as good as what can people like Sarah (or Dan) plan ... pity Dan can't turn EGS into series with budget somewhere around Game of Thrones one ...
  7. Sketchbook Nov 15, 2018

This is a symptom of Nanase's recent geckofication. Geckos are effectively red-blue colour blind. So the frequently red-haired Nanase used the wrong dye without realizing it. Wait ... red-blue? HOW? I though they are red-green colorblind, but I now see it said red-blue in the NP strip as well ... (Searching internet, I'm not sure they are colorblind at all. Although there may not be definitive answer due to lack of research ...)
  8. Sketchbook Nov 15, 2018

... did we already knew trainer!Nanase has blue hair? ... HAD she blue hair before choosing water or did she changed her hair color to match?
  9. Story Wednesday November 14, 2018

Maybe some of the extra curricular classes Adrian gave Edward and Noriko involved the history of Noriko's family, and that's what made her become obsessed with continuing the family busness, which included ensuring the bloodline remains strong. Yeah, I'm assuming that Adrian would know about Noriko's family, he's probably lived long enough to have heard of some of their exploits as they happened, or there was written works about them and other similar families that he read like he had learned about Abraham. While possible, I would be very surprised if Noriko didn't knew her family history before Adrian's classes. Sure, Nanase didn't know it until recently, but her mother was actively hiding it from her ...
  10. NP, Wednesday November 14, 2018

Red and green are very close in spectrum. Humans are optimized to distinguish between them because blood is red and leaves are green, but for Geckos the UV is apparently more important. So yes, I would conclude that the pattern on walls is red-green and likely deliberately use shades which make it invisible for people under Gecko transformation. Question is: does she still see Sarah's blue clothes as being blue? Dan's got a poll going that might change things. I suppose the fact that I consider logical correctness of lizards not having mammalian glands to be more important than how sexy Nanase looks as lizard likely also puts me in minority. (Also, yes, she still looks sexy to me.)
  11. Story Wednesday November 14, 2018

I'm not sure how long that's been a thing, but I've definitely noticed it before. (Incidentally, I checked her earliest appearances; we see her fangs a couple of times during dramatic situations, but otherwise we usually don't see her teeth - or anyone else's - at all back then.) I would say that not seeing her teeth is most likely reason to not seeing if her fangs are extended. Raven blames himself for Noriko choosing her career over her family, but I believe he is overestimating his role in the matter. I have a hard time envisioning a scenario true to what we know of his character where Raven's influence over her was so powerful that the choice to abandon her family wasn't ultimately hers. Furthermore, we know Noriko and Mrs. Kitsune are part of a long line of monster hunters, and that she was severely disappointed in Tedd's seeming lack of magic; given these facts I can't help but think a large part of her motivation for divorcing Edward was a desire to have a child she could pass the tradition on to. ... also good point. While both Edward and Raven blames Raven for it, it's definitely possible it would happen even without him. (On the other hand, note that Noriko was disappointed in Tedd's seeming lack of magic AFTER Raven was teaching her.)
  12. NP, Wednesday November 14, 2018

Well, lizards shouldn't have mammalian glands, obviously ... Definitely. And most importantly, it keeps the "two are needed to solve the challenges" theme running. BTW, note that WE are effectively color blind too, with the comics in grayscale ...
  13. Story Wednesday November 14, 2018

Soooo, how often Grace pretended she didn't meant to tear her clothes? I mean, it's fun fantasy, but I suspect she never did it because she doesn't want to damage them ... now, slipping out of clothes, maybe ... And "no idea"? ... Does it mean they didn't realized it happened to all chimeras and uryuoms? I mean, that wouldn't exactly explain it, but it seems like something worth mentioning ... and it might help them realize it's because older magic systems started to work. Grace saw Sarah's reaction when Tedd told her about Pandora being reset (and that she successfully refreshed and thus would remember Sarah). Exactly. And it's not like she would have anything new to talk about, so not reminding it makes sense. Did she? I mean, what is the time frame here? Maybe it didn't happened yet ... (Note that Sarah had Adrian's phone from Grace, so it can't be that much surprise). I think Edward is professional enough to directly say "I don't like him, but he's good and it's safe to talk with him". Assuming they ask him, of course. Because it seems more likely they keep it secret ... ... he might not even object to THAT, as long as it's not specifically Tedd (or Grace) who is being taught ... like, he might warn them to be sure if they really want that or something, but it's not like if Adrian teaching led to dark side, it's just that specifically in case of Edward and Noriko it cost them their relationship. Not sure now is best time for that, but eventually yes. And Sarah is likely going to mention either Tedd or Grace in her conversation to explain where she got his number ...
  14. NP Tuesday November 13, 2018

Maybe she has experience with previous temples like this? In fact, the way she talks about it suggests she does. But, yes, we already talked about how usually the motivation behind traps is to keep intruders out but the videogame puzzles rarely works that way ... Note: While there could be a rune saying "no flying without transforming", I suspect Dan meant rule. Still, the fairy should work.
  15. Sketchbook Tuesday November 13, 2018

Seems OK to me. It's OK NOW. It wasn't working when I wrote that. Nevertheless, they look better in color. So, if Dan finds out some trick how they would take almost same time color as grayscale ... ... and I agree that the shadows work well like this. I didn't noticed anything looking odd. In case of temple visited by Nanase Craft, it WAS in that color for centuries, but may not be tomorrow ...

  17. Story Monday November 12, 2018

... I suspect there wouldn't be much magic in this arc, just like there wasn't much in previous ... well, ok, there was plenty in Catspaws, its my turn to wait ...
  18. NP Friday November 09, 2018

They are probably reset by magic. Or by group of people. Or ... ... wait. They may be perfectly capable of standing up themselves. Like, transform back, stand up and transform into pins again. She's here for archaeology, not bowling. She will be disappointed. Considering the bowling itself was based on transformation, it's quite logical the removing of passage would be as well. Would be funny if it would really be blocked just by illusion. If you know the passage is there, you can go straight away. If not, you either play the bowling, or check whole wall feet by feet ... (Also, could even be technology: laser sensors and hologram. But that wouldn't explain Nanase's transformation.)
  19. Dirty? I don't see any dirt ... this is pretty clean comics.
  20. NP Wednesday November 07, 2018

I got you were trying, I just didn't find it funny enough to not nitpick. While slamming into wall would probably result in more serious injury than what's shown (unless the wall is from some shock-absorbing elastic material like rubber or polyurethane, instead of rock as it seem to be), it's still closer to normal physics than coyote-level cartoon physics. Note that besides the possibility of the puzzle having some protective effect, it's also possible NANASE has some protective magic on her. Remember how the scarf was enough to keep her warm. Feels like a "George of the Jungle" situation: The tree gets you knocked out. Although, the pins sure look denser than they seem. Not only the pins. She likely hit the floor multiple times while rolling.
  21. http://egscomics.com/egsnp/nanasecraft-10 It is possible the idea of choosing the third indentation was not so logical as it seemed to be ... also, humans can make reasonably round cylinder, but not sphere. But hey, magic is involved.
  22. NP Wednesday November 07, 2018

Human run over by train is NOT flat as a pancake. Too heterogeneous. That can only happen in cartoon physics. (Also, in cartoon physics, character flat as a pancake is generally just injured, not dead.)
  23. NP Wednesday November 07, 2018

Not with this big pins. Although it sure looks that way. Was she already unconscious after multiple hits to head at the point she hit the wall, or was she protected until transformed? Didn't you notice that the expected indentation is NOT there?
  24. http://egscomics.com/sketchbook/2018-036 So far it seems Raven is losing that war. And Justin, didn't you already decided after the Grace's party that changing sex is not the right way how to get guys?
  25. NP Monday November 5, 2018

Asking Sarah if she was right or left handed might have been Nanase's way of flipping a coin or something, head=left, tails=right kinda thing, no real meaning other than a decision maker. I would suspect that the middle indentation could have been if Sarah said she was ambidextrous. That would be very unfair coin flip.
