  1. Story Friday, May 3, 2019

That's an appealing headcanon, but I don't see any foreshadowing. Lavender being an Uryuom isn't likely to be a big issue with Tedd. Dad having a girlfriend is another matter. A serious girlfriend for Edward threatens any hopeless hope Tedd has of his parents getting back together. On a related issue, exactly why did the Will of Magic think it was better to have Tedd find out about Van later? My headcanon right now is that Tedd will find about his mom's other kid at about the same time Tedd finds out about Lavender and his dad.

More than one part of me agrees.
  3. Story, Wednesday, May 1, 2018

"Gung ho" has come to mean enthusiastic or fanatical, but it comes from a Chinese phrase meaning "work together". It came to the USA through Evans Carlsen, a Marine who spent time with Communist guerrillas in China when they were fighting the Japanese, and went on to organize and lead the Marine Raiders in 1942. I think the party is going to be more about working together than (just) letting Tedd have fun.

This is El Goonish Shive. Don't things always come out of left field here?
  5. Story, Wednesday, May 1, 2018

It seems to me Ashley has connected with Sarah fairly well, and since Sarah has been Susan's friend longer than anyone else we know about, I suspect Sarah would play a role in making something like this come about.
  6. Story, Wednesday, May 1, 2018

I still think the rock soup principle will apply. I see us going round Robin Hood's barn a few times before the holdouts wind up going to the party after all.
  7. Story, Monday, April 29, 2019

Maybe this is one reason why Dan has decided we need another party, especially one with the entire main eight. There hasn't been a gathering of every one of them since Grace's birthday party nearly a year ago, Moperville time--or thirteen years ago, our time.
  8. Story, Monday, April 29, 2019

http://egscomics.com/comic/party-006 Still at the brick wall.
  9. Story, Monday, April 29, 2019

Sarah's a talented artist. She's seen how Adrian really looks now. It's pretty believable she's noticed the resemblance between Susan and Adrian Raven.
  10. Story, Monday, April 29, 2019

    Party pooper.
  11. Story, Monday, April 29, 2019

Jerry/Zeus knows about Susan and Diane, of course, but he doesn't seem likely to have told anyone we know about--although he might have left a clue or two with a mortal or two while he was researching, especially if Dan finds it convenient for his plot at any time Tedd found out Pandora reset, of course, from Magic Itself--and of course Arthur was with him (and Van, but we don't know when Van will show up in the story again). Magic also revealed Pandora's full name--Pandora Chaos Raven. Sarah already figured out that Mr. Raven is Pandora's son, but I think the only person we're sure she's told is Mr. Raven himself. Pandora did not tell Sarah that her son had children. It's possible Sarah found out from Adrian. Sarah actually met with him in his real Elf form, but Dan has left it to our imaginations (so far) about anything they actually said.
  12. Story, Monday, April 29, 2019

Of course I can think of other reasons, but I think this is the best fit for Susan as we've come to know her. In fact, it's exactly the reason she did this. And that took just two panels. Other perhaps plausible reasons for Susan to come to the party: The others invite Ashley, she accepts, and assuming Susan is coming begins talking with Susan about it, perhaps saying that she's really glad Susan will be there, even if they don't talk about magic. Susan learns that Diane is coming. Must protect Diane from Tedd. Now a question: Do we know if anyone else besides Susan, Diane, and Adrian Raven know they are descendants of Pandora?
  13. Story, Monday, April 29, 2019

Like the previous comic, highlight to read, or don't if you want spoilers. So, how many comics will it take to change Susan's mind? Will Susan realize that Ashley's discomfort is making a fissure between Elliot and Ashley? Will she realize if they do break up, Elliot will be free? Will realizing this make make feel so guilty she decides to go to that damned party anyway? And will there be any elephants saying “'sup”?
  14. Story Friday, March 26, 2019

http://egscomics.com/comic/party-005 Now we're at the morning of the same Monday whose evening will bring the encounter between Sam, Grace, and not-Camdin.
  15. Story Friday, March 26, 2019

So far. Both Susan and Nanase have gotten new capabilities for their fairies (multiple fairies; fae punch), so I don't think it would be too surprising for them to acquire more, particularly when it would be convenient for moving the plot along. Or, even better, when it would be funny.
  16. Story Friday, March 26, 2019

A really great gag scene would be Susan talking with her miniature alter egos like her former internal debates before noticing that they have fairy wings and tails, and then, that everyone else is staring speechless at her.
  17. Story Friday, March 26, 2019

Oooh, , that's something I haven't thought of for a long time. I hope Dan won't disappoint us. I can see a lot of subject changing until at last someone calls in the Demonic Duck. It's been far too long since we've seen him in canon.
  18. Story Friday, March 26, 2019

I'm afraid you have mis-identified the most significant character, at least in this comic: Susan is the Rick here, the character whose mind must be changed. Maybe we will see Susan's miniatures again, convincing her to go to this party like they convinced her to go to Grace's party. And we need a Major Strasser before the Marsseillaise. Possibly Tony could fill that role?
  19. Story Friday, March 26, 2019

I'm going to use white text to prevent giving spoilers. To read the rest of this comment, use select text. I'm not sure where Susan is going with her criticisms. It reminds me of her when Nanase and Ellen told her about Diane. But since I don't see this party happening without Susan, I'm pretty sure she'll agree to come if certain conditions are met. One of those conditions might be that Diane be invited, because Susan doesn't want Diane to feel excluded. (And another rock approaches the soup...)
  20. Story Wednesday, Apr 24, 2019

Maybe eventually, but the defining moment in Susan's life was discovering her father cheating on her mother. Think how different Susan would be if her mother, her father, and that mysterious blonde had made an open threesome.
  21. Story Wednesday, Apr 24, 2019

And of course he gives every new character a great name like Some Guy, and right away. Seriously, Sybil is Arthur's daughter in my headcanon until Dan says otherwise, and I don't think I'm alone. And Tedd was going to take the TFG to school to zap Tony. And once Tedd explained that the sex change was going to be just for 24 hours, Elliot wanted it on film.
  22. Story Wednesday, Apr 24, 2019

Arthur said "As my daughter would assure you, I support life I have unintentionally created." Sybil is on hand nearby in the facility, where she could confirm this. I suppose Dan could decide his daughter is someone else, but why? It's not relevant to my argument, but , Elliot and Ellen did see Sybil with Arthur on TV after the fight with the fire guy outside Salty Crackers.
  23. Story Wednesday, Apr 24, 2019

Susan has shown emotional attraction to Elliot but not really more than sensual attraction to Catalina. The only other person she may have demonstrated both toward is Justin. The attractions that Elliot and Susan have for one another but suppress sound like a matched pair of Chekhov shotguns to me, and as wonderful as Ashley is, she still fits the role of The Transitional Girl uncomfortably well. At least in canon, Susan has never seen Ashley playing tongue hockey with Elliot like Diane did at the end of So a Date at the Mall. Remember this moment? If Susan is at the party, we may see another moment something like it. Imagining Elliot with Catalina is safe because Susan knows it can only be a fantasy. But seeing Ashley and Elliot in reality?
  24. Story Wednesday, Apr 24, 2019

Yes, it was, but my point was to correct your math and your example used an 18th birthday on a Sunday, and that any date in a leap year from March through December will fall two days later in the week than the same date the year before. Remember this; there will be a pop quiz later.
  25. Story Wednesday, Apr 24, 2019

Points taken. If Diane refuses to come, then what if Susan refuses to come? Remember how Ashley sees Susan? Not much of a party in that case, IMHO.
