Can't help but wondering if a 40,000 volt taser bullwhip could tickle Voltaire. I would really like seeing Jinx chasing Voltaire with his whip, zapping him each time he tries to escape. It would be deliciously satisfying if they managed to find a weakness that allowed them to capture an overconfident immortal using a relatively low tech non magical solution.

It's just one more fact that's in the "So unlikely that it might not be mere coincidence" class...

You think he's got his taser-bullwhip, or has Red confiscated that and put it in the armory at the PB field?

Or she becomes even more hypnotized by the movements of said "huge tracts of land". Considering she is supposed to stay hidden and therefore those "huge tracks of land" are only things she can look at ... And then it becomes a battle of the mind for Cat as she desperately tries to resist the cat reflex of pouncing on the soft, warm and snuggle friendly mounds that is moving so hypnotically... Or she becomes motion sick just like all the cats I've tried to travel with. And that would certainly not be a pleasant experience for either of them.

The "rookie mistake" might be something as simple as Rhoda discovering that the way she enlarged herself and the clothes she also enlarged everything else in her pockets such as car keys, credit card, bills and coins, mobile phone and so on. The mobile phone would probably still be working, because magic, but trying to pay something in a store might get interesting. Not being able to start or even unlock the car might not be immediately disastrous but could certainly make for an interesting situation. Just wanted to drop this here as most people seems to be guessing that it has something to do with either the way the spells interact or with how Rhoda's and Catalina's magic resistance works.

I'm sorry. That post is not my proudest achievement. Now I'm debating if I should edit the post and change the wording, add an apology and explanation to the post, or just leave it as is to serve as an example of what not to post. It might be best if those with an opinion send me a PM instead of continuing the discussion in this thread.

Remember that the customers are a gaggle of grandparents who "are in total disagreement as to what is appropriate content." So... The Goonies? Seriously? The Goonies has an overall unsettling tone of sourness hanging over it. It's a little bit mean. Like we're watching an adventure that will turn these kids into bullies. Think of the children! As for Back to the Future... A movie about a kid who spends his free time in the house of a creepy old man. A movie where the kid's father spends his time up in a tree spying on the kid's mother as she undress. A movie with a rape scene, and lots of foul language. Think of the Children! Pee-Wee's Big Adventure isn't much better. A movie about a creepy retard who is played by a sex offender! Think of the Children! OK, I'll stop there, you get the idea. What you think is acceptable, or even good clean fun, someone is bound to find totally unacceptable and bordering on perversion.

Are you crazy? Cars glorifies driving and even worse, racing! Thats both dangerous and polluting. Think of the Children! And Toy Story is unbridled propaganda for the military complex, encouraging macho culture and weapon fetish. Think of the Children!

Pandora isn't much for explaining about the why or the how when appearing before someone. She's seen it all, and probably tried everything that looked the least bit interesting herself. She's also jaded enough that modesty isn't the first thing she thinks of. So if she wanted to warn them she'd have no problem popping into view inside that changing room. No, modesty or respect for privacy isn't something Pandora is known for. What's keeping her from seriously contemplating warning the girls is the ever increasing chance for high jinx .

Dang it! There you sank my theory that she'd been practicing extensively with enlarging cupcakes to the max and shrinking herself to the min just so she could dive into the cream filling... Which wouldn't have been the least bit hard to explain if someone walked in on her...

I was going to suggest that the boar incident should meet the criteria for triggering an awakening, but then i saw that the mark was definitely still there after the boar had been killed.

And the hair has some aliasing problems, as does her elbow and... I better stop there... Not that I studied it in any detail or anything...

Well I have no opinion on that as I'm just a figment of my imagination.

The entire problem with creating and destroying mass can easily be avoided if persistence isn't needed. Say Dex fairy isn't persistent then there's no reason it couldn't be a complex illusion, basically the same idea as the holodeck in ST. Optical illusion complemented with forcefields mimicking surface textures. This should easily be within the capabilities of magic. One problem might be the continuous power needed to maintain the illusions. A summoning like Nanase's that creates a physical object would require a lot of energy for the initial summoning, but not much of a drain to maintain. It would also mean that when dismissed the illusion will just fade without any huge release of energy.

I'm glad I read all the way to the last comment before posting. Saved me a whole lot of typing, and you managed to explain the non-euclidean space idea way better than what I would have been able to. The only things we are certain of right now is that no matter how you slice it there are going to be problems, and when the nitpicking begins just about every clever theory ends up requiring more magic for it to work.

Put the phones in your cargo pockets, that's what I do. Never had a problem with that as long as the phones has a good key lock function and the power button isn't to easy to press by accident. This last is a problem with the current Nokia smart phones. Side mounted menu and power button is so stupid I can't imagine what they were smoking when they came up with that.

I'm not sure this really matters. If everything in Sara's snap shoot would rely on simulation of forces on the level of electric currents wouldn't that mean any electrical lamps in the snap shoot would go dark? And as the sun is beyond the limit of the snap shot there would be no light coming from that. Looks like it would get dark in there in a hurry... The thing is it's magic at work. Not pretend magic using misdirection and optical illusions but real magic. And so far it seems magic doesn't care much for the laws of physics when it comes to things like levitation, creation of mass and destruction of mass, or just about anything else apart from truly stopping or reversing time. If magic wants to it could allow Sara to use any computer included in the snapshot, but it's most likely that even then the information available would be restricted to what is in memory or any local storage devices. Anything stored any further away is unavailable so google docs, drop box or photobucket is unavailable, not to mention face book. Note that there is no guarantee that magic will allow this, but it's entirely possible. Now, INMHO, the most likely scenario is that any flame caught in the snap shoot will appear frozen, at least until Sara turns her concentration to it. I think the same goes for any computer, or even mechanical things such as an old wristwatch. Once she concentrates on something like this it will animate and do what she expects it to do. I do not expect any computer to be able to present accurate data that wasn't already on screen. However it will show something that meets her expectations and that's the same if it's a text file or if it's a game she's heard about, but it will be heavily flavored by her expectations and knowledge and not at all that accurate a representation of what actually is stored on this particular machine. Right now only Dan knows for sure...

I fail to see anything negative about this...

A pocket dimension could explain the power use, but there's also the time dilation to consider. Accelerating Sara's thought processes to allow for this might take a chunk of power. I just hope she doesn't start to overheat thanks to this overclock...

It might make a difference with the principle behind a particular morph spell. I can see at least three ways a morph spell might work. First option would be that it just applies a cosmetic change. Ear's, fur, tails and whatever changes the spell grants is modified from the targets own biology. Zap Susan and get a tissue sample to a genetics lab and it will still be identified as her DNA. The other would be to create an animal / human hybrid creature. Zap Susan and rush that tissue sample to that lab and watch confusion set in as they can't tell just what kind of creature the sample came from. The third way would be to have the spell magically graft any animal attributes to the target creating a chimera. Zap Susan (again) and get a few samples to the lab and the results would be that depending on where the sample was taken the DNA is either Susan's or it comes from whatever animal was used for the morph. It could also be done using only illusions, but where's the fun in that? It's entirely possible that all of these kinds of morph spells exists. Some may be harder than others, and some more flexible than others, but it's also possible that the way they interact depends on the principle behind them. Perhaps zapping Susan with two hybrid spells after each other the last one will overwrite the first. But if the second spell was cosmetic it might just apply the cosmetic changes to the already hybridized Susan. Not saying it works that way, just that the possibility exists that not all morph spells works the same way.

But undressing someone else can be all kinds of fun! Besides being able to pose people any way she wants should appeal to Sara the Artiste. Now she just has to figure out how to bring back a picture or painting from the sim.
  23. Wednesday, October 26 2016

Wasn't the warnings mostly about not trusting information gleaned from the simulation if she started to change things too much? Oh, and to keep it secret from the DGB or she might be drafted into working for them... I don't remember anything about the actual use of her power being dangerous though.
