pinup Pinup Double, Elliot and Elliot? Wed March 9 2017
CritterKeeper replied to mlooney's topic in EGS Sketchbook Discussion
As I understand it, current proper usage / convention is that the word "sex" is used for physical form, while "gender" is used for the mental and emotional aspect. At Grace's birthday party, Justin made it clear that his gender identity had not changed. He said he was a guy, and being in a female body felt wrong. It's possible that this could be changed but Tedd hasn't discovered or made use of that, but I doubt it. Bad enough to mess with peoples' sexual orientation, which is also a pretty core part of who they are, although at least there the beam adds attractions but doesn't take them away. Someone who liked guys will still like guys, they just might also like girls after being hit with the beam. -

I don't think we'll get that until Vatican III, possibly IV.

Perhaps this is a corollary of the "any spelling flame will itself contain an error," but I notice your post should start with "Given" and the third sentence seems to be missing an "of" after "have the option". Perhaps any post praising a spelling or grammar checker will have at least one error in spelling and/or grammar?- 132 replies

pinup Pinup Double, Elliot and Elliot? Wed March 9 2017
CritterKeeper replied to mlooney's topic in EGS Sketchbook Discussion
Does Ellen's beam have any effect on gender? Or is it limited to physical sex and appearance? Calls anatomy lab about all these split hares lying about... -
From another thread, but something that never occurred to me until now.... To further elucidate, perhaps the werewolf victims only transformed once, but the fear was so great that they would do so again that they either committed suicide or were killed even though the danger was past?

Which would be a pretty damn powerful ability, if you think about it! Cheerleadra herself is already a strong player, and getting stronger. People would likely want the enchantment to continue, and thus could continue to enjoy her powers for a relatively long time, like, say, one Boss Fight. I do wonder about the Dewitchery Diamond.....why is it that the werewolf from the original story seems to have turned people into permanent werewolves, while Ellen only turns people into one-time temporary FV5's? Or were the werewolf's victims only temporarily dangerous, but were killed off before they could return to normal? I would think almost everyone's enchantment resistance would be working overtime against something that made them a danger to their friends and loved ones! -

Okay, this one's pretty simple. To see whether it should be "she" or "her" try saying it without the other person. Which sounds right, "when her was researching..." or "when she was researching...."? It should be "when she and Elliot were researching" and "when she and Nanase were over to...."- 132 replies

She lived at a local Montessori school, and her habitat fell, leaving her with a wound on her abdomen. We put her inside the bell (face mask for snouts) of the anesthetic machine, and gassed her down. I used whatever suture type the book recommended, did a simple continuous pattern for speed, and the edges apposed pretty neatly. Once out of the gas, she stayed asleep just long enough to close the wound and give her a little fluids, and then she started wiggling and we put her in a little cage in the incubator to recover. I gave the school a pretty good discount, partly 'cos it was teachers paying for it and partly 'cos I really wanted the experience and to give her a chance.

Changing Medications (Level of Trust Required)
CritterKeeper replied to ProfessorTomoe's topic in Off Topic Discussion
Well, in this case she has a laceration on her abdomen after her habitat fell (kinda like the 910 server), and I had to close it and give her a little fluids. Luckily, one of my exotics books had a few pages on tarantulas, so I had something to refer to as I went. Unfortunately, while she survived the surgery, her wound and trauma was just too severe, and she died later that day. But at least I gave her a better chance! (And managed to impress a guy who ran an S&M club (long story) ;-) -
Changing Medications (Level of Trust Required)
CritterKeeper replied to ProfessorTomoe's topic in Off Topic Discussion
<speculation>Do you take all the same pills AM and PM? Do you spend enough time upright after taking the PM pills, washing them down adequately first? If you've got a laxity in the lower esophageal sphincter, acid and pill-stew could end up leaking out of the stomach into the esophagus, which isn't designed nearly as tough and well-protected as the stomach. That might fit the heartburn sensation.</speculation> Official notice that this is layman's speculation, not medical advice, as I am not trained in your species. I've done surgery on a tarantula, though! -

Hmm, how long before Kitty starts wondering whether she caused those two little cat girls, and will she worry whether they're okay? Not everyone is as good and thoughtful as Rhoda and Ashley....

I know the others, but what does KIA stand for in the military?

And in the commentary here, Dan actually admits to having watched Battlefield Earth! Poor boy, I hope he at least had a Rifftrack going....this is one of the bravest admissions yet! ;-)

Darn, beat me to it. Eh, it's a whole tree, you can send some to each of us. :-) -
Exercise is supposed to help, too. I think it's normal to have this happen occasionally, along with occasionally having a day when you feel happy for no apparent reason. If sad days are happening much more frequently than happy ones, or if either one is extreme, that would be something to talk to your doctor about. I seem to have the opposite problem, I have some things about me that would fit with clinical depression, except so far as I can tell I don't have the actual depression part. I know a lot of diagnoses require that you match a certain number of symptoms out of a list, but I've never heard of qualifying without showing the thing the condition is named for.

pinup Pinup: Monday March 6, 2017 Double: Sarah and AF04 Sarah
CritterKeeper replied to Scotty's topic in EGS Sketchbook Discussion
Looks like our!Sarah is hooking her fingers into the bra strap on AF04!Sarah to slide it over her shoulder, likely a first step in removing it altogether.... -
Tedd had a similar reaction upon discovering he was suddenly a girl. "Yes, I should worry about how and why this has happened, but for now I just want to enjoy being a girl in public!" Or the french maid outfit.... Google "twitchy kitty tail," it used to be on ThinkGeek but doesn't turn up on their own search bar. They do moving ears, too.

Just noticed that Sam is just in front of them while Rich was talking about going up against "Samantha" in his next round. I wonder if Sam could hear him? Just for a moment, he'd worry that someone knew who he was and was going to blow his cover and out him as trans.

One of the spells Pandora rejected giving Ashley was reducing pain. Based on the commentary, it was more of a Throw It In last minute thought on Dan's part, but it still seems like the sort of thing a good writer could pick up on later. I can foresee some future plot where Tedd is hurt, or greatly upset by one of his friends being hurt, and Pandora either regrets not giving Ashley the ability to help them, or discovering that her desire to help them makes her able to get a more powerful spell than she would have gotten back in October. Pandora might be out in the open about things by then, and just plain offer Ashley the mark at that point, or she might mark her unknowing with the assumption/hope that the circumstances would lead Ashley to use her new powers sooner rather than later.

CritterKeeper replied to ProfessorTomoe's topic in EGS: NP Discussion
Or, she could have Marked Liz off-panel after finding she had a useful option, and then gone on to the next comic. Remember, we saw the whole card game without knowing that Pandora had marked not one, but two different main cast members. We don't get to, or need to, see every moment along the way. -
My occasional mental Mary Sue fanfic flashes in the Trek universe, I was a xenomed, basically a doctor who specializes in alien species. I do believe that when dealing with alien life forms, a veterinarian specialized in exotics (a zoo vet, for example) would be a heck of a lot better choice than an MD who's only ever treated one species.
