I'm not surprised that Arthur believes in a good work/life balance.  This is why, I'm sure, that he included those details in a training wand, even back when it wasn't sentient.

It surprised me that Tedd is not more knowledgeable in Japanese

But then I thought more and realized that even Tedd's aunt wouldn't put a mute introvert through the same linguistic and academic wringer through which she put Nanase

No, the fact that Tedd is not fluent in Japanese may be, in Mrs Kitsune's view, one more heinous crime Noriko inflicted upon her child when she deserted Edward & Tedd

To think Noriko doomed Tedd to watching dubbed or subtitled anime by running off to Europe

Plus it's not really her place to dictate Tedd's academics

My impression is that once she decided to leave, she no longer interfered, really no longer had anything to do with Edward and Tedd. I doubt it was an easy decision, but I'll bet she rationalized it as 'best for all'. She does not seem to be mean spirited, but anxious (used the 'scary wand' way too much), and holds things in, trusting her own judgement and not her relationships (kept her facial damage hidden).

Given the little we know, Edward and Noriko were in high school together, mentored by Adrian Raven; it seems that they dated and were a couple, seemingly got married young. Perhaps too young. Perhaps Noriko was merely immature. Of course, failing to close the loop and make some sort of amends does not speak well of her later maturity.

Though she has a second child, we have no other hint of a second husband. I suspect she is raising Van as a single mom. The only relevant thing we know is that Edward is not the father (Van is a half-sibling of Tedd). Also, with Edward marrying Lavender, Edward and Noriko are not getting back together.

No, but I'd bet she has very loud opinions.

This is a given.  Granted she seems to care about Tedd more than the sister of a divorced mother would normally care for, but she really doesn't have any grounds for interfering with Tedd;s upbringing.

Ah, I misread that as Noriko, not her sister. I am curious about her relationship with Edward. She seems to care about Tedd, she does not forbid Nanase to visit the household, guessing she has empathy that Noriko left, but I think she somewhat blames Edward for being involved with magic. She aware of the agency and communicates with them in past comics, when Nanase is involved. Perhaps significantly, not with Edward.

I believe we've had hints that at some point Adrian tried to recruit her as well. I am curious why she turned him down and is outwardly opposed to magic. She must have some background for this. We know it 'runs in the family', what background are we missing?
