First "this comic" shows Diane being a gossip. Like everybody else. It illustrates pettiness but not outright ill-will. Not by high school standards. Kids, even high school kids, can be vicious creatures. Second "this comic" shows Diane making doe-eyes and a guy who is pulling money out of his wallet. If she isn't making those eyes for the guy with the wallet, the next best explanation for me is Diane's hero-worship of Nanase. She might be envious of how close and casual Justin's relationship is to Nanase and wanting that for herself. You can make these comics fit a pattern of actual dislike but I'd like more solid evidence before I sign on, and a better answer to refuting evidence. This comic shows Diane barely aware of Justin beyond "he's the gay guy". Her focus is on Nanase. Diane's "Defective male companion" line next strip works just fine as a reference to Justin's gayness without reading any deep or longstanding animosity into it.

liked as a gesture of sympathy... -
Not to my knowledge. I'll go out on a limb and claim that we have never seen Diane dissing Justin prior to his knowing Nanase, nor have we been told anything like that. I don't think Diane has been in a comic prior to Justin knowing Nanase, so I'm making something of a safe bet. Diane could have a dislike of Justin that goes back further, but I tend to doubt it. Not without evidence pointing toward it. That also begs the question why would Diane look down on Justin prior to Nanase? Is Diane homophobic? Did she come onto him and get shot down? The only clue we have is this. But this comic tends to suggest there isn't much history between Diane and Justin.

I wouldn't rule out jealousy based on Diane's platonic crush on Nanase...

I thought about this. being Marked didn't seem to do much for Susan's height, whereas being Awakened did.

Pandora is nigh-omniscient. She might have seen the possible Justin-Luke meeting coming. She "warned" Luke ahead of time not to look at Tedd, so we are agreed that Pandora likes trolling Luke... I know we have a scene of Justin at his PE locker with the Mark on his back but I don't remember where that comic is. It would be the last point where we know Justin was marked not awakened. Anytime after that is fair game.
-
Why would Pandora awaken Justin earlier? Don't know. All we know for certain. is Justin was Awakened at some point before Luke looked at him. Anything else is speculation. Pandora could have awakened Justin days, weeks, even months before the comics tournament. Justin has gotten more muscular over the previous months. He didn't just *boing* and fill out at the comics shop. That suggests but does not prove that Justin has been Awake for months.

We don't know when Pandora awake Justin...Just that it was at or before last friday.

Justin is an endless barrel of distraction... (rats, was going to add a "demonic duck" emoticon but it looks like emoticons are broken/blank)

Nothing is known to be impossible for magic except time travel. Ergo babymaking is on the table for elves if they want kids badly enough.

Pandora has underwent a lot of Villain Decay. It's why I floated the idea that Voltaire could have been that hardcore villain side of her split off and incarnated as a separate being unbeknownst to Pandora herself. Think of it as "conservation of villainy"..

"Wizards, seers, those with magical abilities..." NOT all magic users. Just those with something inborn. Probably those like Nanase with a lot of natural magic energy as well. I'd speculate that inborn magic power "S-Rank talent" if you will, is what the griffins saw as "royalty".

Miller's Spartans were slinging the testosterone by the bucketful... But then the ancient greeks generally had little issue with gay behavior. IIRC in Athens, a boy was supposed to go through a gay relationship with an older man so he'd know aht he's about in the bedroom...

For whatever else it is worth, Miller also wrote (and probably drew) the graphic novel version of The 300, now a major motion picture...

So very true. I remember digging back into a personal project after several years away and I was very thankful that past me did the little bit of documentation I did. It helped a lot in restoring my familiarization with the code.

It's there but blocked by word balloons or is just outside a panel border. It must be shy.

And write, and write, and write, and write...

Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

I wasn't going to complain about lipstick twice on two separate threats but since you brought it up... Yeah. It makes the girl harder to recognize as Susan.
