But I wonder if Elliot talked to Ashley personally, where did they do it? Ellen and Nanase had Susan at the Dunkel house and unless Ashley's parent's weren't home, I don't think Elliot would have wanted to talk at her place for fear of her parent's overhearing and freaking out, though if they saw the news they might still be freaking out. Goood point. And even if they DID freaked out when they saw the news, they could freak out again. She wouldn't need to learn about Edward being Tedd's dad or even meeting him even if in his house. Worse issue is how hard would be to clean Verres house to not contain anything suspicious. Nah, I don't think they talked there. Most likely, they agreed on some place which is technically public but empty enough so noone would hear them. It would be easier to explain to Ashley's parents anyway. THAT would be good idea for NP story. Very interesting and funny but not really directly important for main story.

We know Sarah was planning on spending the next Friday with Sam, which is turning out to be the day crap might hit the fan, unless crap hits the fan thursday and Susan and Diane's meeting at the mall is uninterrupted, but I just have this feeling that Diane wanting to wait till Friday and meet at the mall is just asking for trouble and crap will hit the fan then. Sarah's probably not in danger as all she has to do is use the spell and she can likely do so discretely during the "might be date", so I guess Dan could still keep that separate while having it take place in the same timeframe as Susan and Diane's meeting. Buuut Susan and Diane's meeting is likely part of Sister 3. Sarah + Sam date may not be. It will mean the comics would not follow real time, but it wouldn't be first time it happened, so ... Hmmm ... I sort of though this was special opportunity, but Justin said it's same every week ... still, maybe it was special because it was first sealed tournament with new set (vampires and werewolves) and possibly had little higher-than-average attendance (not just Tedd, Sarah, Sam and Luke ... wait, even just those four would make it significantly higher than average, there wasn't that many people there). It is also possible they are going to hang out AFTER the tournament. It's Friday, they can sleep later. All others were talking personally. I think phones are still not considered secure enough - especially phones of people outside main 8. ... I think Dan wouldn't do that out of fear of pitchforks. Like, sure, it would be a way how to free Elliot for Susan, but ... no. Damn. I just realized that the "second OT3" may not happen ... what if Elliot makes enough duplicates so one can date Susan and one Ashley? And one Diane? And Dunkels would need bigger house. (Presumably, there would be another duplicate for Magus. Unless Magus would date Diane, that may work - he may be similar enough to Elliot but without the "changing into girl" part Diane isn't sure she likes.)
  3. Story Monday April 10, 2017

She might not have decided yet, she's at least willing to learn about the first purpose and the missed ability and see where that goes, it's possible she might still insist on knowing what the second purpose is, but then agree that it's best not to tell Tedd about it, maybe learning about the missed ability will cause her to figure out what the second purpose is on her own. Right. Let me rephrase: Pandora seems to stop pushing the issue. It is definitely related to him being seer. But because we don't know what is the first purpose, hard to see which one it's related to.
  4. Story Friday April 7, 2017

It was actually Demetrius that told Susan about the hammers, and the hammers were apparently on record for other Immortals to look up. Or Immortal clairvoyance can manifest as a giant spellbook. "THEY told us" ... Demetrius was doing the demonstration because it wouldn't work on Helena. Also, that book is some offensive stuff he's reading (see commentary) because he wouldn't ever admit to Helena he is perfectly capable of offending woman without help. Susan at the time she was introduced up until "Lunchtable Revelations" had the "all men are scum" attitude so it wouldn't have taken much for males to offend her, all cases would have likely felt extreme to her. Doesn't matter. Susan TAUGHT Sarah how to do it, and Sarah wasn't likely so easy to offend. She was friend with Tedd, after all - at least until the incident. I propose that hammers were never expected to be reliable. She wasn't shown when around men (I mean, other than Elliot and Tedd) so much. Also, I suspect that for some years between the hammers actually being shown and Hammerchlorians, Dan wasn't sure if he want to just ignore the hammers and leave them with other not-really-well-though stuff from beginning of comics or if he "upgrade" them to full plot point. Like, not necessary for the whole time, but there might be time when he avoided using them. (Also, she would likely get into trouble for hammering Principal Verrückt over the uniforms, no matter how offensive they were, and security wouldn't dared to try anything) She was known as Hammer queen. Men were likely generally careful around her. In her case, the "encouraging inappropriate comment" functionality wasn't working - which is another indication that she wasn't using the hammers the way women normally did. Still, it is perfectly possible she DID hammer someone offscreen in that time.
  5. Story Monday April 10, 2017

Hmm, given your name, I would have guessed you'd already read The Dresden Files, but perhaps it's just a coincidence. If you'd read them, then you'd already know just how freaking dangerous and scary traditional faries are. ;-P Dresden Files aren't only one which presents fairies as dangerous. I believe him being honest on this page. I also believe Pandora WOULD find some way to make him regret being manipulative, ESPECIALLY if he would call attention to it by saying he's honest now. So, yes, he was testing her on previous pages, but he also wanted her opinion about Tedd. Actually, Pandora seem she accepted that he will NOT tell her the second purpose. Possible. Would explain how he knows about Tedd without leaving Egypt - if he has access to all DGB files about Tedd ... And would explain how he's library. Especially if that "all written records" includes everything which WAS written, no matter what happened to it. (Note that stuff written on HDD and/or SSD likely count as well, he doesn't need to wait for it being displayed on monitor.)

Catalina being marked was strongly foreshadowed in Squirrel Prophet with Grace believing that Catalina had been marked, Marker confirmed not only that she was, but gave us when it happened. Even with it being an earlier time period, it still has the same importance to the story as Question Mark. Escape from the Mall had more of a side story feel to it. Confirmation can be done in much simpler way and when it happened is not important. Meanwhile, Question Mark contains lot of stuff Dan would need to repeat. Read commentary for the copied Question mark ... and also this one and the one after that and this one. Oh. These ones. Somehow I though you mean Justin was supposed to do something in Summer. Obviously, here Justin and Sarah means their dates. Justin + Luke and Sarah + Sam. And Ashley might get another date with Elliot which will not be interrupted by griffins, although she didn't mind .
  7. Story Friday April 7, 2017

Rule of funny is not really good reason to consider something canon, not even in EGS. I think it would be weird for Jerry to tell some women about hammers, yes ... they would likely consider it suspicious. If some women would be teaching them, however ... which brings the question how Helena knew about hammers ... . Maybe Jerry actually knew Helena when young - it's not like he would automatically realize it's her based on description he got. Or he realized it and that's why he made the vow. Maaaaayyyybe. That would account for SOME use, but will probably be bad base for someone learning how to use them consistently the way Susan had. On the other hand, maybe the way Susan was using them was not the expected way and normal use WAS that women would only use it in extreme or random cases ...
  8. Story Monday April 10, 2017

I don't think Voltaire is trying to make Tedd ineligible. I think he is trying to make him not a sound mind BUT still eligible. Note that yes, Heka seems to know more that he was showing before, but on the other hand he still relies on Pandora to assess Tedd. He may not know about Voltaire - or he know ABOUT Voltaire but not enough details. It's also possible that he knows enough to be afraid to tell Pandora but not enough to realize letting Pandora shred him to bits would be good idea. Only Helena and Demetrius were doing that ... and those names are from Midsumer Night's Dream, although not names of fairies from it. Speaking about Midsumer Night's Dream, making fun of fairies has long tradition, considering Shakespeare already did. I suspect it has something to do with why they decided to stop using that name. Still, the immortal law - actually, both "empower and guide" and the one about not directly lying from other half of the world - is something which would be expected from fairies. Other immortal beings tend to not have rules like that.

Likely the Dunkel's living room, there's a lamp on either side of the couch, you barely see the one next to Ellen but it likely matches the one beside Susan. Right, although I'm not surprised I wasn't remembering it if this was the best strip it was in. Although ... if it's THIS kind of lamp, it must be pretty tall for Ellen to be switching it on with this hand position. On the other hand the one behind Susan looks pretty tall. Not directly important. Rhoda and Catalina are second tier characters (for now) and how was Catalina marked will probably never be referenced again, we will get only very short summary when Catalina finally says she has mark to someone from main eight. Exactly. What would Justin be doing? I'm pretty sure Sarah will be using her spell more offscreen than onscreen, considering she is supposed to use it all the time and most of those uses would be either boring or filled with mostly imagined stuff. Neither is a loose string from Squirrel Prophet. THOSE are likely to be important.
  10. Story Friday April 7, 2017

I think it was more a joke to indicate that now that William and Gillian have male and female human form that they are now truly thinking like male and female humans and therefore Gillian found William's comment a bit offensive when she might not have before. Also, it's likely you need to be taught to summon hammers. I would not consider that cannon. Unless Tedd is so used on hammers being used on him he can summon them into women hand in cases like this ...
  11. NP Monday April 10, 2017

Sooo, anyone remembering what lamp was there? What room it even is? Not her ... although there is lamp there ... this lamp is also positioned differently ... Wait, does Ellen have twin ponytails? Did you missed how Dan don't want to do anything important in NP story? Like, he did Question Mark and then copied it into main story because he decided it's too important to not be there. So, all more interesting ends will be addressed in main story. Assuming Dan's opinion on what is interesting matches ours.
  12. Story Friday April 7, 2017

The fact that Noah never knew his mother would mean that even if she was part of the group that created Damien, she would have had to die or leave before Damien was created, if she died, there's an implication that she might have been killed to prevent her from reporting the group's activities to anyone (which could have happened considering Dr Scuiridae's organization got wind of it, she might have been successful in warning someone before she was killed). If she left before Damien's creation, the question would be why did she leave Noah behind? If she left after Damien's creation but before he started killing people, she might not have had a choice to take Noah with her, especially if leaving was dangerous. Alternatively, she might've been killed in unsuccessful attempt to prevent someone else from reporting the group's activities to anyone. Or, she might've died on escape without anyone killing her - like, because their facility was located in terrain which is hard to go through in night. Or, she might died on infection or injury, which could've been cured if they could just send her quickly into hospital. Hey, she could've died giving birth to Noah without medical assistance (assuming earth-style birth - which went wrong). There are really lot of possibilities even assuming Noah was told truth about her, even more if he wasn't.
  13. Story Friday April 7, 2017

I don't fertilize it ever, so that may by why. Also, the window is facing west. Still waiting :). Bindweed is also more aggressive than Vinca. I don't think Squirrel part would affect it and I don't think Noah is not using Uryuom abilities OR that it would help. However, I agree with the Lespuko part making it even harder for Grace. It certainly makes her shapeshifting much more powerful, so it would make sense. It is possible that his father was not only one who Noah talked with about his mother. The "if everything would be public my parents would be alive" suggests that his mother was also part of the group, although maybe not as fanatic as his father. While it wasn't really established, I would consider "default" (meaning that only the opposite would be noteworthy) that they would want the child to have their genes. I agree that they could be wanting some from friends as well, but that shouldn't be problem, the kid can have multiple parents. Note however, that William and Gillian doesn't look particularly human (despite being born and raised US citizens), which would mean that their parents didn't considered fitting being important enough to add human genes. Also, they mentioned their child will also need the TF gun. (Another note: their parents likely build the CMD on their own planet) And he also could have multiple parents, but why would anyone lied to him about it? More likely, there was woman who took part in raising him enough he would consider her mother even if she died or otherwise disappeared too soon for him to remember her. (Although, she might not been his biological parent ... unless he was born the traditional human way instead of from egg, it would be hard to verify.) Personally I consider this theory little too desperate ... but, yes, as long as Diane wouldn't be truly explained we can speculate. Yeah, it's not like human mating habits are shaped by "hey, she has wide hips, it would be easier for her to give birth to my children" - oh wait yes it is. Unless uryuom home planet was even more influenced by magic and gods that Earth, Uryuoms evolved and their mating habits are influenced by their evolution. If the egg can accept more than two DNA's, it was evolutionary advantage and it was being used and they would still have instincts telling them it could be good idea. Note that the mental connections bit is actually evolutionary adaptation to shapeshifting - if everyone is able to change shape, then shape is going to have lower influence on mating habits.
  14. Story Friday April 7, 2017

We have no info on how much control the uryuom have over their genetic mixing, beyond the fact of choosing whose/what's DNA to insert in the egg. I would actually object to the "genetic construct". While it's possible they did do some genetic modification before inserting the DNA, it's also possible what there were doing was not so different from uryuom natural breeding. Note that The Shive didn't make that Q&A until twenty-five months after his commentary hints about Noah. Of course, it's also canon that Noah has had a lot of training, and he's been trained by Adrian. And if Noah is a genetic construct like Grace and her siblings, he could have been designed to be free of the usual restrictions on human-flavored magic by crossbreeds. So The Shive has at least a couple of ways to retcon His way out of the apparent contradiction between His 2014 Noah comment and His 2016 Q&A about Grace learning spells, should He care to. Even the Grace Q&A doesn't say it's impossible for a part-uryuom crossbreed to learn spells, just extremely hard. Perhaps so hard one might consider selling one's soul to get around the restrictions? Weird, I though the Grace Q&A was SPECIFICALLY explaining how could Noah get the magic despite already existing hints that Grace can't even use the watches. Like, obviously Noah wasn't mentioned, for case someone still didn't get he's part uryuom, but "this information probably isn't related to anything important" is almost lampshade hanging. So, no retcon needed. Also, Noah was speculated to be part uryuom way before 2014.
  15. Story Friday April 7, 2017

Agree. That's what I meant by the "seems". I was just commenting that it's still not sure - just implied heavily. Looking at image, seems I have one pot of that too, although it's not so active. I suppose it wouldn't be hot enough for it even if I put it directly on heating. I also like Vinca. Someone was telling me it's weed. I answered "that's one of things I like on it - it's low-maintenance". Also better medical care--spending a significant fraction of one's childhood ill with traditional childhood diseases such as Measles, Mumps, Chicken Pox, etc. stunts a child's growth because resources are being used to fight the infection instead of for growth. I think I had those three too (and I don't think my growth was so stunned). Maybe the illnesses which stunned growth were more stuff like bronchitis, which, unlike those three, you can get repeatedly. Which I also did, but with antibiotics it wasn't taking so long. This has been speculated for long time. I think that both him and Adrian Raven are aware, but they don't feel the need to tell Grace (or us). In fact, considering Adrian probably must've explained Noah how to suppress his uryuom power to learn Earth magic, Noah must've been painfully aware.
  16. Story Friday April 7, 2017

He's aware that Immortals used to be called Fairies, how long ago was that, before the last system change, or within Pandora's current lifetime? Did she refer to herself as a Fairy or an Immortal when she met Blaike? The name Heka may be more a title rather than a name and not an indicator to this person's age so who knows how old he is, he could very well have lived through at least 1 system change. Just because he's aware doesn't mean it was during his lifetime. While it SEEMS he speaks from personal experience, it's possible it's historic information he got with the rest of library. Also, what, you think last system change went so well he thinks it's no big deal? Pandora and her Horde would definitely disagree. Although it was less caused by any actual genetic change and more by malnutrition. Because people actually started getting taller only in last two centuries, and that's certainly not enough time for evolution. Did you see how short he was? I think he might have been referring to individual humans. The comparison to weeds suggests he speaks about population, as weeds are not exactly known for being tall.
  17. Story Friday April 7, 2017

My suspicion is that there are always a few... but most of them are never in a situation to notice that they are seers. I'm quite sure about that because seer seem to be BORN as seer but only usable when older. So, either magic is really good in foreseeing or it keeps several around every time there is some risk, which means always. Also, notice the complete lack of "What, seer was already been born? We are in trouble." from Heka. Either he's that phlegmatic, or existence of seer at given time is no reason for worry. (Granted, he also might be unaffected by magic reset and not care about others, but his "entwined in mortal destiny" and worry about seer being morally good suggest otherwise.)
  18. NP: Friday April 7, 2017

    Hmmmm ... yeah, one example of progress ... tri-corne -> bi-corne -> uni-corne -> ->
  19. NP: Friday April 7, 2017

There still is the responsibility of the maker, who is supposed to be human. Doesn't matter. Geneva Convention are useless unless both sides agree to uphold them. That depends on the body temp after wearing both suits. And how good androids are in cooling, sure.
  20. NP: Friday April 7, 2017

Even without the self-awareness, if you find fix for some bug, you will apply it. You may complain it doesn't make sense but if it works ... Remember Hex's Fluffy Teddy Bear? The "armoring of maid outfit" might end up similarly actually. I definitely agree that maid outfit over the cat-suit would work. I suspect that you are expected to warn your enemy about non-traditional uniforms beforehand. Of course, in fight between android and alien robots, Geneva Convention is unlikely to apply anyway.
  21. Story Friday April 7, 2017

I think that the first purpose is something not really important and the second purpose is the magic reset one. I'm not sure if I would call the almost-predictive abilities immortals have "being smart". But I agree that he is unlikely to have them. I think the whole deal with reset is specific to fairies and he is dealing with long life differently. I don't think Heka or whatever else Tedd can transform to has dominion over ALL magic. But "Tedd-Heka" might still have power to ruin Voltaire's fun, either directly by attacking him or indirectly by forcing him to follow even more limiting rules. I don't think he might end up abusing the "second purpose". I think that the second purpose is PROTECTED from abuse by anyone knowing about it not being eligible for it. Meanwhile, being intelligent, sound mind and morally good is NOT strictly necessary and might be way how to manipulate the seer. Heka is certainly not the only one with this knowledge. Voltaire either remembers it by memoir, got it from someone else OR maybe asked Heka century ago. I find it likely. Although I wouldn't use the word "help" ... I think he USED General Shade Tail for it. If he knows that telling Tedd is neither guiding nor empowering, that will cause him to get blasted into a reset, at the least. Possibly so fast he wouldn't even explain enough to disable Tedd. I don't think he needed any convincing. I think our Tedd was convinced to be "no good" before TF gun as well. Manipulated? I'm more interested if she might possibly realize Tedd is seer and then disappear because she knows she can't be trusted to not tell him. He may not entirely correctly evaluated himself. Note that Luke was almost blinded by looking at him. I think it's We do know he seems energized (and glows) when he makes new discoveries about magic or love. I agree that Andrea knows too much ... which is why I think she somehow WON'T MEET TEDD. Because such meeting would complicate the story too much. I think that Elliot is SO important that just him NOT BEING AROUND might make Tedd unstable, even if he wasn't killed after Tedd was already friend with him. Very good questions. Note that the fairie law will DEFINITELY affect them based on the universe they are IN. Maybe Voltaire DIDN'T do it and just lied he did.
  22. Story: Monday April 3, 2017

It was a clearly insulting picture. Created specifically to be offensive to Muslims. Someone changing their name to 'Mohammad' as a show of faith after converting does not fall into quite the same category. And someone named Mohammad who is of different faith? Based on recent history, offending Muslims (or someone who claims to speak for Muslims) seems to be easiest AND most dangerous from all religions. (But I think we got very offtopic ...)
  23. Story: Monday April 3, 2017

Apples and oranges. Don sounds like he's talking about, for example, Mohammed Ali. You're talking about pictures which very definitely were depicting the Prophet specifically. I suppose I didn't saw all images and I don't read French, but the most famous one is head in turban with bomb in it titled Mohammed. Nothing specifically about Prophet.
  24. http://www.egscomics.com/egsnp.php?id=598 I like the idea that it can be bug. I mean, while everyone have different opinion, there are outfits which would be hard to explain as "that persons like them". But there is no such limit in case of androids: their emotional programming might be very crude and full of bugs, so basically ANYTHING might be explained as something the android likes. ... (Note: it's true that cosplayers can like wearing all sort of crazy stuff, but they are just copying other character which may lack sane reason to wear that.)
  25. NP Monday, April 3, 2017

Seeing those two together ... A computer without COBOL and FORTRAN is like a piece of chocolate cake without ketchup and mustard.
