Just a bit? I though it's textbook example.

That sounded like a political jab. I'm not sure that's appropriate here. Apologies if I have misconstrued you. Not sure what is jab but it was political joke. (And I really hope it will remain just joke.) Apologies if it's not appropriate.

...but I'm a US citizen... Enjoy it while you can. Despotic regimes usually forbid dual citizenship.

Did he told those pretentious religious jackasses they did a mistake? I mean, I would expect they approve the girlfriend even less. I still think Pandora had something else in mind. I don't think he is that stupid. If he wouldn't already have better plan, he wouldn't do the vow in first place. Actually, he DOES have plan - the CM plan. Is already in progress and involves vampires and Adrian Raven. Also, while I think he doesn't like this, I also think he's not surprised. He may do some "I don't understand but I support you anyway". I don't think Ashley would be judgemental. Or jealous.

I bought a title of nobility from Hutt River in the 70s. I'm not sure if I still have the documents... Finally

Are you suggesting a "Wake Up, Little Suzie" scenario? No, I don't think they spent the time by sleeping. Although, Catalina does look little sleepy ...

The fact that Ellen was suggesting to Elliot that leaving town for a few days would help stop the buildups makes me think that it's not so much an out of control generation, but an inability to regulate the absorption of energy from the environment, it's like all ports are* open and he is unable to stop. If he was to have left town and gotten out of the high energy area, it could have allowed his system to adjust to a more manageable rate. We also know from the whale that the ambient magic makes energy buildups harder to deal with. But Edward explained the energy buildups as inability to stop energy regeneration. I don't think he is mistaken ; probably, ambient magic either makes you absorb more or lose less, but the main mechanism is the energy regeneration. Sure it could. Uryouom magic works by one set of rules and can't give a person with solid bones hollow ones. Earth magic works by a different set of rules and has a whole different set of advantages and limits Yes - earth magic works differently so it may make her "true" bird. On the other hand, based on the fact she was still able to speak as cat, I wouldn't rule out magic help with the flight either.

No. I am talking about the Tiffany Aching books. They are well worth reading. I though I've read them. Oh. There is one more. I though Raising Steam was the last Discworld book.

She is rapidly becoming one of my favorite 2nd string character. She is rapidly becoming 1st string character. There might be a pinup in that. I don't think what they do immediately after finding her will be pinup worthy. Are we really going to debate which of us lives in, or is from, the craziest state? Waiting impatiently for someone to respond he's from Principality of Hutt River ... (No, I'm not.)

Considering neither likely saw anything from the movie, I'm not sure why they were buying tickets AT ALL. Or why are they in movie theater. Wait. How long are they there? Did they entered for one movie and it's already third one?

I would mention subconscious control specifically, because it doesn't seem to match either the instruction or the direct control. And, apparently, it's pretty COMMON way how to direct automatons. Ellen's Copy spell gives her another option. If she has access to a zoo or menagerie she could have a lot of transportation choices. She can transform to ANY bird. Pigeon, (sea)gull, duck, sparrow ... anything. Not sure how it works in US, but here I see several birds almost every time I look around (outside, obviously). Does praying to God count as negotiating? Yes. Also, Elliot's flying doesn't mean he somehow avoids the need to negotiate. It just shows how bad gravity is in negotiating. I had likened how Uryuoms generate their power to how humans generate body heat, so it's likely part of the metabolic process for Uryuoms. Humans do have the capacity to do similar though as evidenced by Nanase being able to burn calories for extra magic, I don't know if that's possible for all humans or if it is an ability one could get as they learn magic, I think the fact the wizards and monsters being drawn to high areas of energy suggests that Nanase's ability isn't common. Humans DO generate magic. Elliot's problems with magic buildup was caused by not being able to STOP generating magic. Normal people don't produce MUCH magic and are not able to use it but they do produce some. Nanase's Guardian Form seemed to be fully kitted out from the get go so I'm not sure if it could get any upgrades. Then again, from Pandora's description, Nanase's Guardian Form does seem to be tailored to her personality so Guardian Forms could vary in appearance and abilities from person to person. Nanase's Guardian Form SEEMED to be fully kitted, but I wouldn't rule out possibility of additional upgrades. The basic attributes - someone needs to be in danger, being burned out after use etc - are probably non-negotiable, though. Regarding other people, note that it's called GUARDIAN form. Not angel form. It's possible it's not looking anything like angel for other people - like, it can be guardian spirit for native american. YOU of all people should be aware how current historians often recover records which someone tried to remove. Pharaoh Hatshepsut, for example. Or Akhenaten. It's true that history is unreliable. But the people with threats and bribes usually only care for RECENT history. Ancient history is not controlled by anyone (mostly due to lack of interest) and how it look is not how the last people who wanted to change it wanted it to look ... it's much more complicated. It has a flow, yes. It flows from one half of the world to the other through nexus points. It'd be safe to assume that when the energy reaches the other side, it flows towards other points where it returns to the first half. Actually, one idea: what if the magic NEEDS to be consumed and re-generated on every half? Like, what if the magic which clogged in Moperville is actually more dangerous, because it was supposed to go to other half, be used there and THEN return? .... hmmm ... ok, may not really match anything in EGS, considering noone seem to have problems using it ... That doesn't make much sense considering there are "whales" that consume excess energy on the main half. It does make you wonder how the energy is produced to begin with, is it a byproduct of another process? Is it the same as how humans and other animals breath oxygen and give off carbon dioxide, and then plants take in the carbon dioxide and give off oxygen? ... would actually match my idea about being consumed and re-generated on every half. But it seems griffins use same magic as our humans, so no. It seems more likely that the magical energy is infinite and the flow is just a way to keep it dispersed, roughly same density everywhere. I think Uryuom do have or at least had some entity like will of magic, but it's list of objectives was apparently much simpler. Leaving Earth by spaceship, likely not. But going to other half of universe or different universe, thats question ... They may just have better records.

No. The Fey. The Fair Folk. The Lords and Ladies. The Sidhe. If you talk about the "a couple of rogue cheeses in the cellar put up quite a fight" sentence, that precede Horace and probably isn't him. But they are wonderful and marvellous and fantastic and glamorous and ... what, noone said they are NICE. Are you sure it doesn't stem from few of those wonderful fantastic elves standing behind those Victorian authors with fantastically sharp swords?

http://elgoonishshive.wikia.com/wiki/Special:Images?file=OT14x03_notransp.png It's under "Shipping" in the Shiveapedia. The sources I mean. When you mentioned this last time, I think I replied that it would be good idea to add those canon source links to the wiki. Well, sure, if humans leave Earth, they'll still be under Magic's jurisdiction, but only by virtue of having evolved here. In fact, I almost said "only to humans," but per Dan the griffins' magic falls to its counterpart, so presumably if there are any sentient races native to the main Earth besides humans and immortals (? native), they also fall under Magic's purview. True. We don't know if there is any other sentient species native on Earth besides humans (I'm pretty sure immortals don't count into this category), but we shouldn't assume. Actually, there are whales, but those seem to have different relationship to magic and are sort of interdimensional. (Note that EGS's humans likely DID left Earth at least for short while, and we know for sure Uryuom are still under THEIR technically-magic jurisdiction on Earth, even the ones born here). Actually, even on the other half of THIS universe, humans might be playing by different rules ... I mean, the humans native to that people obviously do, and if they originally came from this half ... on the other hand, griffins' magic seemed unaffected ... damn. We really need Andrea to explain this.

Except she first needs to find out she can do it. I find unlikely something like that wouldn't be mentioned in news and therefore in main story.
-
Hijinks? (The smart option would be nothing, after they verify she's ok. But that would be end of storyline, so ...)

Wait, Fey? Oh, you mean Nac Mac Feegle, right?

It's not really funeral. The fate worse than death which awaits them is getting catgirl-obscessed stalker. Who will be catgirl in 3,2, ... Also, Pandora is totally going "That's not what I meant but hey that will be fun." Note that if this magic limit is real, it might be big advantage for bad guys. But maybe it's not that strong and won't prevent you from doing things you don't like but know it's necessary. Yes. If she wouldn't be that smart, her levels of sensitivity and conscientivity would kill her. I think she's overdoing it. With the amount of thinking she put into going REALLY easy on the girl she doesn't need to worry now. Although looking carefully shouldn't hurt. Well, wouldn't hurt if she wouldn't be marked now ...

If magic has some intelligence with that will, it won't take that long. The majority of my characters in that setting, both LARP and tabletop, were prepared just in case that did happen. I wonder how Elliot's revelation will affect the comic's story. Because he's right. Eventually Magic is either going to have to put up or shut up. A world wide phenomena like that couldn't stay hidden in an age of instantaneous communication, not forever. Remember that the REAL objective is that magic wouldn't be AVAILABLE to everyone. Single reset may be enough to change rules so it's possible that almost everyone knows magic exists but only few are able to use it. As Arthur put it, in an age where everyone has video cameras at all times, it is impossible to maintain ignorance of magic's existence. The truly dangerous secret however is not that magic exists, but rather that nearly any idiot who is determined enough can Awaken. The "middle path" that Arthur was trying to follow was one of claiming that Mages are Born rather than Made--i.e. a person born without "talent" would have little hope of gaining access to magic. What Magic seems to want is to allow the possibility for "wild cards" to exist (i.e. people who self-select for magical Awakening as opposed to being hand-picked by Magic Itself). This thus requires that there be some method for Awakening that can be initiated by Mr. Random Guy. At the same time, Magic's desire to keep the proportion of Mages low means that the threshold needs to be greater than simply convincing an existing powerful Mage to share their knowledge (e.g. studying instruction books). Yes, exactly. Although ... if Magic won't find any other way, perhaps limiting itself on born mages WOULD be usable compromise for it ... So you said. I'm still not seeing it on wiki. He already did. So did Nanase. In fact, seems that gravity is easily intimidated. Actually, it might be half-of-universe-wide ... but only for Humans. Except it's just the opposite: Tedd gets to keep that expansion and it works no matter what the new system is. Though they might not know that... They CERTAINLY don't know that yet but yes: Tedd's expansion will get BETTER in case of reset.

Because none of those will stop any thing moving at ballistic speeds and will actually make the wound worse, by putting plastic fragments in it. Of course head wounds are bad enough. Those stop, maybe, shell fragments, do squat against anything stronger than a .22LR round. So, the reason basically is that they expect noone would bother with a baseball bat or brick from above and only thing they will be against are high-calibre weapons?

RE-turn to the light side, rather - I get the idea that she only slowly drifted to the dark after too many centuries and never completely gave in. Unlike Star Wars, EGS does not contain separate light and dark sides. Therefore, most people are some shade of grey. Which, apparently, happened long ago, so we can assume she got lighter, actually.

Available evidence is very thin. While main "eight" didn't needed to sign anything (as far as we know), they were under constant surveillance of experienced DGB agent (namely, Edward). Also, they were minors. So, while I agree other restraints are unlikely, paperwork might be needed. Definitely. And while unlikely to be Luke's case, Rhoda can be "flashy". Imagine if she resized Statue of Liberty. Both might actually warrant warning pre-fire-golem due to the risk of other people seeing them. (CAN Cheerleadra and/or Nanase even flight high enough for FAA being concerned?) "Knock" you say ...
-
Before Justin's date with him?! NOOOOOOOO! If he would be reasonable, they may not lock him somewhere in dungeon. They will just talk with him. And maybe force him to sign something.

I can't think of a reason they'd be less powerful. There would be a mostly-different group of people who happened to randomly stumble on how to work magic, because that "how to" would be different, but that wouldn't mean they are less powerful or that the despicable among them would be less despicable. Because currently, there are people like Not-Tengu who already escaped authorities once, or people who remained hidden while training before they started their villain route. There wouldn't be anyone with experience between them after reset and they will likely regain experience slower than DGB. You have point, however, that the enforcement would be HURT by their lack of experience worse. Because you need more experience to prevent and/or solve problems than for cause them. He doesn't WANT magic to be more widely known. He just decided that it's too late to prevent existence of magic becoming known and instead started to shaping WHAT will people know about magic. (BTW, is this Arthur Arthur or someone else?) Technically, there is lot of informations "on the internet", and Not Tengu was on internet. It would be hard to create something which would be convincing enough to not only go viral, but be actually believed by public. I mean, if you want to get actual information out: it's easier to just show existence of magic, although not even that is completely easy - case in point, not everyone believes in obvious superhero fighting obvious monster posted by multiple people. (On the other hand, just making existence of magic public wouldn't be that hard if deliberate. Attacking unique popular tourist attraction - Statue of Liberty, Eiffel Tower, Taj Mahal - and causing obviously magic damage would be quite hard to contain. Or, like, freezing Niagara falls in summer.) Apparently, immortals rarely empower true villains. Maybe it's against rules, maybe they just wouldn't want the negative publicity, maybe true "scheming" villains are less fun that people who just cause chaos and are therefore easy to catch. On the other hand, magic black market EXISTS and immortals are not ONLY way to get magic. Also, there may be people who TURNED rogue - that is, used to be legal, possibly even working for DGB or other country equivalent, getting book ... then escaping and started "better" career in crime. So, I'm sure there ARE rogue magic users with spellbooks, maybe even wizards. And, yes, Rhoda is technically rogue. So is Luke, unless they told Edward about him already and he informed DGB to catch him.

I know. It can be Mission: Impossible reference even if not that obvious. It's hard to tell because of the freckles, but Catalina is blushing as well. It's hard to tell on my monitor if Rhoda is blushing. But if they do, ok, at least both are thinking it
-
of course. Yup. It's almost begging for Catalina saying "Will we really get more magic if we -" and Rhoda blushing and answering "I think she means playing with the spells". Except it's so obvious Catalina would need to do it deliberately. (Hmmm ... it wouldn't be completely out of character ...) One of them would comment if the text would have VISIBLE method of fitting that much. Obviously, the note is enchanted in way which makes people reading it not realizing HOW it does fit all that text in that space. ... I would make a photo and look at what is visible on the photo. That first sentence wouldn't make sense, but it MAY end with "This note will self destruct when you finish reading it. Good luck, Rhoda". Why waiting five seconds?
