He is talking about worst case scenario but might still give it unrealistically high probability.
  2. Story: Monday February 13, 2017

... pre-intel Macs were not SO specialised, it was still general purpose computer. And I think they were able to run linux. Hmmmm ... better but harder to use operating system? Except even Linux connects to internet out-of-the-box. Which actually works, as humans would still interact with magic - they would just no longer be able to use applications (spells) they were using before. I would say that learning new spells would be harder than learning new applications, but on the other hand, there seem to be plenty of people unable to move from Internet Explorer to Chrome or Firefox because of differences between those ...
  3. Story Wednesday February 15, 2017

I would think that the TFG would still work on Grace, because it's power is based on Uryuom Power, not magic, and Grace has Uryuom Power. Certainly. When you apply TF Gun on Grace, Earth magic will never come into equation. Remember, Mr. Verres isn't the guy in charge anymore. If every government magical agent suddenly didn't know how to use magic any more, you can be sure someone would decide to confiscate the CMD for government use, and Tedd's dad might not be able to stop them, even if he wanted to. Tedd already have TWO TF Guns and can likely make more. Arthur Arthur already shown he's not stupid. If DGB decides they need CMD for government use, Tedd would be REQUIRED to use TF Gun on herself - as part of quality control when making them. Remember that the law is based on religion which is no longer officially supposed to influence laws. It's possible that ANY official mention of such device would risk causing political conflict in Uryuom government ... humans might decide it's safer to keep the issue on earth even if it would mean giving the gun back to Tedd. That spell would probably work along the same lines as Tedd's gender change spell in that it's a permanent thing and not an enchantment, so I don't see Abraham losing knowledge of the current era, the statue spell though seems to be an enchantment with a trigger link to the diamond, obviously the diamond would lose it's magic so I would imagine the statue spell would end as well. He would, however, lose the ability to upgrade his knowledge later, so he would be stuck speaking 21th century English. Note: I don't think the diamond would lose it's magic. It may stop working on humans the way it did, but it would still be hard to destroy magic object and it would likely have SOME effect on humans. Vladia is just like Grace, though while Vladia doesn't have any Lespuko DNA to allow her to mix and match forms, her current form is not an enchantment. Also, Vladia probably isn't stuck, just too afraid to try to change. For WWII tech, even megabyte memory would be unreachable. Also, WWII era transistors probably wouldn't be able to operate on megahertz frequency (not speaking about gigahertz). But I don't think the difference is so big in uryuom tech case. More likely, the "computer" part is comparable (Tedd seems to use earth computers to interface with Uryuom tech), but the battery and obviously something around the beam generation would be outside abilities of Earth technology.
  4. NP: Wednesday February 15, 2017

I was mainly talking in terms of raw power. When it comes to skill, yeah Noriko would be better than Grace. While Grace is more powerful than Greg I don't think that's so exceptional. Even not counting their better skill, Noriko, agent Wolf and Adrian Raven probably have more raw power.
  5. NP: Wednesday February 15, 2017

That though did occur to me, we have an example of Noah being able to write notes with magical effects, I would expect an Immortal like Pandora to be more elaborate. Edward Verres can also write interesting notes. Something along the lines of referring to someone as "Your boss" or "Your master/mistress" or "your head of department," rather than referring to them as a possession, then. ... that makes sense. Didn't realized it before. Unlikely. She's exceptional compared to rest of main cast, but I wouldn't bet on her compared to, say, Noriko Verres. ...Or she's trolling Catalina because she's Pandora... Probably both (and not just a bit).
  6. NP: Wednesday February 15, 2017

Yup. Especially considering it may not be everything. She didn't get to anything about the book yet - in fact, this part sounds as if the BOOK is Pandora. Must be very small print. Or, well, magic. Yes. It's probably to build trust, so it makes sense, but still, not expecting that. I'm not sure she is allowed scare off the boar. Although it might be counted as guiding. But yes, I'm skeptical even to the implied statement that she only marked her just before the boar attack. Lieutenant B'Elanna Torres: You know, I have really had it with this superiority complex of yours. Female Q: It's not a complex, dear, it's a fact. It is unsympathetic attitude indeed, but in some cases it's justifiable. From her point of view, animals and humans are not that different ... and it can be argued that being annoyed when compared to animal is just HUMAN superiority complex. Especially considering Grace's surname IS squirrel, sort of. Personally, it's the "your" part of "your cat" which is more disturbing to me. It's implying Catalina belongs to Rhoda. Also, in all cases, it was for her amusement. She can do things for multiple reasons. But yes, he most evil things we saw her doing was giving her son lesson he doesn't think he needed. And what child agree with parent's method of educating him?
  7. Story Wednesday February 15, 2017

Yes. But now about the rest of panels: Holy shit she's right! Just because Uryuom tech would still work it doesn't mean it would work on humans. While it would be dick-ish move from magic, 1) we already established magic is a butt-face 2) it could be unintended sideefect. Also, Tedd might not realize it but she is pretty powerful now, considering her friends. However, she will lose most of that power in magic reset. Sure, she will still have Grace, but it will be good opportunity to reject her access to uryuom tech ... if we ignore her dangerous rarity, which the DGB would as it doesn't know about it.
  8. NP: Friday February 10, 2017

Well, I'm not sure about MMOs but FPS games already got to the point where both killing enemies and BEING killed is source of entertainment instead of being a serious and potentially life-destroying topic It's more the single player games where you leave hills of corpses. Usually they are not human, which makes it racism or speciesism on top of that. Except ... you may not like it but it's the majority and therefore, by definition, average. It's disturbing, indeed: it shows that humans are not as moral as they claim to be. On the other hand, character trying to follow current moral code would end up dead quickly: maybe we should abandon the idea of absolute moral openly and not just pretend we don't see where it fails. Not sure how it translates to the rape situation. Especially in fantasy, where the targets for rape may not be human either. I would definitely say that if we decide it's ok to brutally kill someone, it's hard to argue against being ok to rape him. On the other hand, there is lot of space for handling rape incorrectly if you do it to people who are not "ok to kill". (EDIT: Actually, even the GAME can do some deciding if it's ok to kill someone. People already complain about guards in stealth games being able to ignore someone killed their colleague. And there are NPC guards in MMORPG who respond to some rule violations. There is definitely place for killing having consequence even in computer games, more so paper-and-pen RPG games. And similarly, rape should ; then we can compare those two.) True. After all, most heroes were not as heroic as legends make them either. And some are not as heroic even IN the legends.
  9. NP: Monday, February 13, 2017

Apparently, five years. ... what exactly they mean by "purification"? Scores of what? Centuries, decades, lustrums, olympiads, years, seasons, months, fortnights, weeks, days, hours, minutes, seconds? Naps? Pranks? Very good question. Actually, that would be good reason for Rhoda to NOT read that note. Almost as good as if she would introduce herself as Pandora Chaos Raven.
  10. Story: Monday February 13, 2017

I think we have a disconnect here. It would be possible for magic to be a universal force and simply be expressed differently by different species were it not for the fact it can (and will) change at will and do so by individual species, that is the definition of a non-universal force. Universal forces are just that, universal. They can't change without a change to the entire universe, and they don't care that they can't change. While magic is choosing to be expressed, and how. Now, magic is probably powered by the interaction of some as-of-yet unknown universal force(s), with magic itself being the arbiter of how and when those forces can be used. That means magic is extremely powerful, and perhaps even a universal entity, but not a universal force. It's less disconnect and more shortage of terms. There is magic the universal force. Magic analyzer wand is able to measure it. The results are labelled according to what that reading means for humans, but you get readings from Uryuom as well. Then there is the Will of Magic, who have some objectives and flair for drama ... for humans on this half of universe. So, either it for some reason have different rules and objectives for different species, or it really can only influence humans and Uryuoms actually have their own, with considerably less objectives. When Andrea was talking about magic, she was talking about the force. The whale used the term magic energy. Magic reset can't do anything with the clog, because that's already existing energy which can't just disappear. Meaning, the will of magic might not be as powerful as it seems - or as it poses to be.
  11. Story: Monday February 13, 2017

Magic won't take its ball and go home. Magic reset will likely make TEDD the most powerful person on earth (not counting immortals). Of course, she doesn't know this. Magic can be universal force and STILL have different rules for how different species can use it. It would even explain why some things won't change in magic reset: interaction between two spells will remain same, but interaction between human and spell - like when human would cast that spell - would change. No. Dan even said that magic on other side doesn't care about being public. Only this half has to be worried. The Griffin’s half has magic way, way, WAY out in the open. Their magic is less hipster and more honey badger. PS: I'll have my cookie for guessing Tedd doesn't fear the removal of ambient magic
  12. NP: Friday February 10, 2017

... at least by combining two so absurd rules we don't need to compare which is more absurd. Considering the hills of dead pilling up as every second RPG hero, I fail to see why featuring rape would automatically classify RPG as worst ever. (Although I'm not going to search for details, the TVTropes article mentions enough other reasons why it could be worst ever.) Also, if settings feature mind control, it makes sense it would be used for rape, although one would expect it would be by villains, not the heroes.
  13. NP: Monday, February 13, 2017

And it's GOOD comic. BTW, personally I categorized EGS as mix of SciFi and modernized fantasy. That would make having a seemingly random book appear before them pointless if she has to then appear to explain what it's for, I'm certain that's what the note is supposed to accomplish. Exactly. Also, Sarah was special, Pandora was not giving knowledge like to her for many twenties.
  14. http://www.egscomics.com/index.php?id=2307 Nooo? Why not? At least try to stick something there ... Note: And we saw the range of spell ... except we still don't know how far it is. But it seems to cross the road almost straight, no visible curvature, so can't be so small.
  15. NP: Friday February 10, 2017

Considering Kitty was a very recent, spur of the moment creation by Dan, it's hard to say how he plans on bringing her into the main story. Or IF. I mean, if he already has some specific plan - he might be in the "I really need to somehow get her into main story but I have no idea how" state. Obviously. I think he might, but not for so short appearance. It was definitely too much work for her to not appear again - so she either appears more in current story OR Dan will find a way to get her into main story. Or both, of course. It seems it was very funny game. At least from outside.
  16. Story: Friday February 10, 2017

To clarify: It does not matter what WE think. Tedd thinks the danger is real. That means, for all practical intents and purposes, that to her it is. I think if Tedd would be thinking logically, based on information she has, she would only fear the magic reset AND would not consider it imminent. However, she apparently does NOT think logically, so your (Old Hack's) note about danger being real for her is true. I think you have it backward. Now, Tedd should be going full-female in places where she is not known to be male, to see if she wants that experience normally once she goes on to college. Going full-female to high school where lots of people know him, would give a skewed perception of what college will be like if she "transitions" over the summer. I would say that ANY perception you would be able to get in few days without legal change would be skewed. Tedd has much more options than people considering sex reassignments, but getting unskewed perception in single day is not among them. That said, she definitely should try the enhanced-girly anonymous option. But even the school experience may not be completely useless - perhaps by trying multiple skewed options she would get something close to realistic perception.
  17. Story Wednesday February 8, 2017

Not sure if there's anything related that they could have mentioned about it, Tedd had already made Edward aware that the ambient energy around Moperville was unusually high, now Edward would know that it's because of an energy clog preventing the flow of magic to another half of the world. Tedd and Grace wouldn't know about an Immortal's involvement with the clog until after the debriefing. The only information that was withheld about the past couple nights was what happened Friday night during the card tournament but as I said, there wasn't any reason to believe it was connected to the stuff that happened Saturday night. If Sarah was at the debriefing, she would have made the connection, but would likely have withheld that info from Edward because she might have to reveal how she knew and why. Therefore, "too late". Unless they "remember" they "forgot" to mention one detail.
  18. NP: Friday February 10, 2017

Maybe she's still in High School as well and bumps into Rhoda or Catalina in class or lunch, maybe Rhoda or Catalina sees Kitty accidentally use her mark spell in school or during another date or something and decide to help her learn about magic. It doesn't have to happen in this story arc. That counts as chance. Also, while the schools are big, it would be weird if she was going to same school as Catalina and never met her. Remember, even without her mark, Catalina is VERY close to being catgirl.
  19. Story: Friday February 10, 2017

Some marks would. Tedd has very, very little direct magic of her own without the ambient magic to help her, which makes it different. 1) Really or does she just THINKS she has little own magic? 2) Gauntlet. Seriously. Obviously. But note that she already has pretty good idea how to make permanent change device. To repeat: loss of ambient magic is hardly problem. Magic reset, without knowing details of dangerous rarity, is. Tedd spent lot of time in Edward house, which is full of all sort of protections. Voltaire already complained that getting anything done is HARD. It's possible he wasn't able to attack Tedd directly. Alternatively, he NEEDS Tedd but in bad state. You are not alone. Tedd has had her entire rug of dreams and ambitions yanked away from under her and she has to deal with this on top of everyone else. What is strange is not that she is making plans for a worst case contingency but that she is dealing as calmly with it as she is. I'm not sure about the dysphoria but I definitely want to give her hug due to the lost of her dream of making magic available to everyone.
  20. Story Wednesday February 8, 2017

Especially considering Edward would be interested in HOW they know it. I was suggesting they would put some more information into this debriefing.
  21. Story: Friday February 10, 2017

Tedd knows nothing about how imminent the change may be and she DOES know Sarah is working to bleed off the excess that lets his watches -- and his Mark -- work. She has plenty of reason to worry. Wait. His mark should be working even without ambient magic. (Also, TF Gun will work even if watches wouldn't, AND Tedd already have gauntlet which stores energy and she presumably can make watches work without ambient magic using same method OR use magic from gauntlet to power her mark). Only the magic reset is dangerous, reducing ambient magic can complicate her research but won't prevent her turning man or woman again.
  22. NP: Friday February 10, 2017

I don't think this arc will be the last we see of Kitty, and I'm thinking she'll either make an appearance in the main story, or maybe Dan has plans for another NP that focuses on Kitty Hi-jinks. Both would be good. Well, I think this won't be last we see of Kitty only because before end of this arc, she will actually get acquainted with Catalina and Rhoda. But if she wouldn't, how can she get near any main character except by chance? We don't know how long Rhoda has had those spells. She knew she could change her own size, and change the size of Kitty's sleeves without changing anything else - she did not know she could change Catalina's size and simultaneously change the size of her clothes to fit, and she did not know she could change her own appearance in ways unrelated to size. Just like Elliot didn't know about the secret-identity forms embedded in his superhero spell. This doesn't imply that she didn't have those spells some days earlier, just that she hadn't ]i]used[/i] them. Of course, one valid reason for not using a spell is that you don't have it - I am consistently unsuccessful in using a flight spell - but there are other valid reasons for not using a spell. And if you have a spell but don't know it, you won't use it on purpose. Hmmm ... true, both resizing including clothes and disguise are something she MIGHT already have for some time. I still think at least one of those she get today. (BTW, tried telekinesis again ; the glass still didn't moved)
  23. Story: Friday February 10, 2017

For all Tedd knows, it might. In fact, for all we know, it might. Actually, Pandora seem to "forgot" to mention how her working on preventing magic reset might be too late. Meaning, WE have more reasons to worry about magic reset happening soon than Tedd. Does that make that canon now? No. While callback to that NP from story telling perspective, what Elliot ACTUALLY have in mind might've not involved Tedd being woman in school.
  24. Story Wednesday February 8, 2017

Tedd didn't do a very good job at conveying the existance of space whales to Edward, though he might not have wanted to give his dad any hints that something was happening to him, probably goes back to him not wanting to think about his parents being wrong about him. Hmmm ... is this argument for "they shouldn't try making up anything" or for "they are likely to fail hiding something from Edward"? True ; being special kind of wizard might cause DGB to became more interested in Tedd, which doesn't sound safe ... Still: Edward is likely paying more attention to what Tedd does than he seems to. He is likely to notice something changed. And having no explanation will make it worse ... If they could explain that they received new information from someone who's identity wouldn't endanger the "hard" secrets ... like ... Edward knows about griffins. It's safe to mention Helena and Demetrius to him. What about blaming THEM for the magic reset hypothesis? ... too late?
  25. Story: Friday February 10, 2017

... raining cookies indeed, everybody guessed this. Although we now have the reason confirmed: Tedd wants to spend some time as "basic" girl (not extra-girly, catgirl or anything else) to see if she likes it more than man in case she would get stuck. Hopefully not because fearing magic will reset tomorrow but only because she's not sure how much tries it would need. ... BTW, do they really have gym every day or is she just too impatient to wait for day without gym?
