Creative enough to imagine a whole magical card battle play out in real time. That's actually whole different kind of creativity. Also, I wasn't saying she wouldn't be ABLE to imagine it, I just said she wouldn't be LIKELY to imagine something so weird without reason.

Bram Stoker might not be THAT new either In Bram Stoker novel, Dracula turns both into bat and wolf ... and also into mist. Bats were associated with night even before vampire bats were discovered. No matter how much could vampire bats do for the legend, the legend might contain bats even before their discovery. Although I wouldn't be surprised if association with wolves is older. It's obvious that original legends didn't differentiate vampires and werewolves as clearly as some modern movies.

All he could say is that he had Nanase cover the til for a bit. It certainly is canon that she's used her magic in the shop before, so she could have used her fairy avatar or Justin was vague about what Nanase did and Grace filled in the blanks. I don't think Grace is so creative in filling the blanks. Fixed. I don't think this is happening so often. I mean, it's not the kind of error I routinely notice myself and fix before posting ... like when I write Sarah instead of Susan or vice versa.
  4. http://www.egscomics.com/?id=2303 Was the car ok after you lift it? But, yes, I would assume Grace can deal with average vampire. Also, maybe her Lespuko claws work on them ... Also, wizard? Agent Wolf? Or Tedd? Adrian Raven? Hmmm ... actually, maybe she visited Adrian again ... (I'm not sure why it couldn't be explained by shapeshifting ; she does gain new forms by applying transformation to her and Tedd did experimented with hair, why couldn't he load some different hair forms to her?)

garbage in, garbage out, as the programmer's saying goes... VERY old saying.

Dan's stated through the last Q&A that "Magic Comic Shop" is "sort of canon?". The fact that Justin, Ellen and Nanase hung out at the comic shop prior to going to the mall in "Not a Date at the Mall" which is canon. Also the fact that both are referred to in the main comic also gives canon value to "Magic Comic Shop", Yes, exactly. What exactly could Justin said which would make Grace imagined Nanase was showing her fairy without it actually happening? Unless she would actually show the fairy as non-animated doll. I was talking about magic in general, so Nase - wait, isn't Nase Susan's fairy? And if it's not canon enough for you, remember that Nanase AND Justin used their illusion magic in the shop, and that's DEFINITELY canon.
  7. Probably with, but she would deny it if asked. I wouldn't be surprised if someone confused girl Tedd with Nanase. Why wouldn't she be happy? It must be very hard for Dan to keep relationships in canon so vague ...

*sigh* I can well believe it. Cultists do not generally suffer from encumbrances like undue amounts of intelligence. Well, technically, most people believe something like this, starting with Christians and Muslims and reincarnation would also count right? (which would cover both Hinduism and Buddhism if I understand correctly). It's just that most people don't think they will miss something if they don't hurry. Certainly lacking "common sense" as would be considered "common" to the majority of people in our culture. Agh, people can get complex... I look at losing touch with common sense as exiting under the umbrella of emotion. I make an emotionally-driven commitment and my intelligence labors overtime to rationalize and justify that commitment, including warping what I consider "normal" or "common sense." Yup. Intelligence is a tool. If someone decide to not use it or to not use it on specific question, it doesn't help how much he have of it.
  9. Story: Monday January 30, 2017

Well, they couldn't use the same abilities, obviously. For example, if the hero possesses any superhuman abilities, then the detraction identity couldn't possess the same abilities. But there's no reason why he couldn't simply be good at things like lock-picking, climbing and running the way an ordinary human would. If Superman can pose as the ordinary human Clark Kent, then why shouldn't he be able to pose as a superhero without superpowers? Superman is powerhouse. I was thinking about Batman - where would Batman get "spare" set of abilities to show? While funny, it actually shows another problem: unlike Clark Kent, Batman or any other "human" superhero would often be in position where just him surviving would prove he's not just human. Batman is armored and badass, those three still have enough reasons to think this was NOT Batman. Some sources claims that werewolves legends are based on VAMPIRES changing to wolves (on top of bat forms). Although it's unlikely to be widely known ...

She may ; however, Elliot can just say he can do it longer. Also, Elliot look differently than Catalina - more cat-like.
  11. Story Wednesday Jan 25 2017

"Just one more...duty...to perform..." They didn't expected to die, just to leave their bodies or something like that.
  12. Story: Monday January 30, 2017

I think that this is more because those two, despite being in same universe, don't interact so often and if they do, it's crossover which doesn't contain "someone guessed someone's identity" as subplot. I don't think it will really work. Especially considering he would be forced to use similar technologies for both identities. Although it might be worth the shot as last resort. He's not that super as cat, and showing he can transform at all now would be risky. It will be something else if Catalina (and/or Kitty) gets public, actually - if Catalina would make obvious and public knowledge that being able to transform to one thing doesn't allow you to transform to something else, THEN might Elliot get some advantage of revealing his cat form.
  13. Story Wednesday Jan 25 2017

Heaven's Gate? How exactly did it inspired them?
  14. Monday, January 30, 2017

Wasn't that just school? School and comics shop Yes, Nanase might be less careful than she should, but I don't think everyone in whole city knows she can fly. Although considering this, the guard might have enough reasons to believe in magic.
  15. Story: Monday January 30, 2017

Maybe Sarah when she gets more spells. She is an artist, so she should have an affinity for imagery magic. Affinity is something else ... but yes, she may get spell like that after awakening. Also, she might get spell to copy image from her simulation to reality (make a photograph, effectively). Wouldn't be anytime soon, though. (Remember: Nanase doesn't have affinity for hiding and Elliot doesn't have affinity for girl spells. Those spell just reflected part of their personality. And in similar way, Sarah can get artist spells.) I still think Catalina is more likely to contact Elliot. She may not be sure how much ASHLEY knows.
  16. Story Wednesday Jan 25 2017

Not really. He WROTE several of the StarFleet engineering procedures. (from TNG Relics) Although, it's possible he wrote it AFTER that five year mission.
  17. Story: Monday January 30, 2017

Catalina might not be the best person to keep secrets. I'm surprised she managed to keep her current ones so long. Definitely. ... actually, all teachers were told, didn't they? So, yes, teachers might be more dangerous than other students ... (Although ... maybe the teachers did hear about Ellen meanwhile and decided that Ellen making prank on them is more likely than Elliot actually changing gender.)
  18. Story: Monday January 30, 2017

... yup. Catalina, who KNOWS he's cheerleadra and will ask him if him being cheerleadra could have something to do with her being able to transform to catgirl. Obviously, Elliot can also transform to cat, so ... Also, being annoyed and cool are not only possible emotions. I think he should pose and ask "do I LOOK as a girl"? PS: The "Friday" effect of Friday comics is little diminished by the scene change: if it's scene change anyway, it's scene change cliffhanger, not end-of-week cliffhanger.
  19. Story Wednesday Jan 25 2017

At the time (I'm assuming you mean the upgrades done to fight species 8472, or the Undine as they're called in Star Trek Online) I think it was because of the risk of the borg having a backdoor to take over the ship if Voyager ran into them again. Based on episodes 406 The Raven and 515 Dark Frontier, they have anyway. And? I am not you. Sorry, I should've quote just Vorlonagent, this was reacting to him. My own motivation for studying second world war (probably not so thoroughly as you) includes that I like dictatorships being defeated, so I guess it could apply, but generally, I was speaking about fiction and other universes. In case of our real world, there is no option to just ignore what I don't like, unfortunately: even if I ignore Trump for example, I will still be affected by his decisions. Even if Romulans would be in our universe, I'm pretty sure I can safely ignore them until 2063, possibly even until 2152. But I don't want to ignore them, I like Romulans. At least reasonable Romulans like commander Donatra.

AFAIK we have no information on how a wizard learns a spell from someone else, only that they can. We have several Tedd's notes which might or might not be based on actual knowledge. Even if he would see it simpler that it is, however, I would assume that wizards are really OP compared to normal magic users and learning spells is relatively easy for them. Given that Tedd is specifically described as rare type of WIZARD, I would assume that the process wizards use to learn new spells is similar to how Tedd gets understanding needed for his magitech: so, yes, they basically only need to look, but carefully and from short distance and preferably undisturbed. Where Tedd get conscious understanding, they get understanding subconscious/instinctive, allowing them to cast the spell themselves despite not being able to describe it as well as Tedd. (Also, Tedd likely can combine spells similarly how Grace can combine forms ; "normal" wizard probably can't.) Of course, this hypothesis might prove to be incorrect.
  21. Story Wednesday Jan 25 2017

No it didn't. TOS era used food synthesizers. Presumably, they were not usable for machinery, although they possibly had some sort of technology on similar base. Even later, there were things which can't be replicated, and while DS9 replicators were able to create automatic defense system including disruptors, it wouldn't surprise me if ship phasers wouldn't be replicable. Did they actually had someone else doing repairs than Scotty? Also, antimatter can't be replicated, logically. While they were repairing hull damage and structural integrity damage all the time, I think it was sort of patch, not providing the same strength as proper full repair at dock. Anyway, they certainly weren't able to just download upgrades and install them on fly. So, letting them go to five year mission with substandard equipment would be irresponsible, even if they didn't expected fight. Could still happened, of course. Refitting Enterprise after the five year mission took two and half years and wasn't really finished when they send Enterprise to another mission ... definitely not the kind of upgrades possible on-route. (Of course, Borg did had technology to do substantial upgrades without any dock facility. Which brings question why exactly Janeway dismantled it ... jealousy?)

Oh, look, our very own continuity error! Considering how long EGS has been going, there are a surprisingly small number of them. Not that small and I'm sure we overlook something ... but yes, considering how long EGS has been going it's small. Yes, or I could easily see Edward having to order a wand with the Create Spellbook spell in it. Would be weird way to formulate it then wouldn't it? Good question but probably considered spoiler so wouldn't be answered. Can you ask as a guest? I think Dan has gone back and forth about allowing anonymous questions.... Didn't actually bothered to try, I just assumed anonymous questions are still off. Are you sure you didn't create it years ago and then forget? I'm pretty sure I did that with a few email addresses and forums in the past, sometimes discovering the fact by getting a "There is already an account linked to that address!" message. I almost forgot the yahoo but even if I would have any doubts about tumblr the fact that it asked me for specifying some topics it can bother me with confirmed that it doesn't knew me. Oh wait. You mean the hkmaly.tumblr.com one? The language doesn't match, the photo doesn't match and the only post is too recent to forget it.
  23. Story Wednesday Jan 25 2017

Oh absolutely. It was a great episode. My friend mostly made his remarks because it annoyed him past endurance to think of any military unit equipped with weapons that unreliable. And unfortunately it is not even unrealistic -- for example, during WW1, the French managed to design an early submachinegun that functioned so badly that it would often jam after firing just a handful of rounds or less. You know, if I don't like something, I rarely bother to get enough knowledge to nitpick it. Yeah, it's not as if it would be on deep space exploration mission into uncharted space, possibly outside the range of federation repair facilities for whole five years oh wait. (On the other hand, that deep space exploration mission didn't get so deep considering they ended up near Romulan neutral zone.)

The last Q&A stated that "Elliot and Ellen's books were made by Mr. Verres". If he had to get someone else to do it, they should have said he got someone make them for him. Whether he knew the spell, or used a wand to make them is a question only he (and Dan) can answer. Interesting (yeah forgot that). Well, while it may be retcon, it could also mean that he first needed to order the books as "ingredience" and then "made" them by turning them into actual spellbooks, in other words linking them to Ellen and Elliot. (Someone can still ask Dan to clarify. I can't, I don't have tumblr account.) Given we don't saw Elliot and Ellen getting those books, he actually might made them in front of everyone. Of course Tedd might not know he should be looking back then. It certainly looked like she'd taken a bit of a physical blow - and I doubt that the fairydoll was in physical contact with her when she detonated it. (And there was only one. Imagine three simultaneously.) Exactly. While true, the question was if she can do damage. Even Ellen can do dazing, confusing and deafening with her FV5 beam (ok, maybe not deafening, but the effect may be similar). EDIT: Wait: I do have yahoo account and seems they are connected now ... but someone beat me to hkmaly.tumblr.com ... damn ...
  25. Story Friday January 27, 2017

Between change blindness and people not really thinking it through and/or having experience with how steroids work, I would still say that rumors about him taking some illegal substances may be more likely than rumors about magic. But hard to say: it depends on how will general public see other stuff happening in Moperville. So far, official explanation is nothing extraordinary is happening. (Not counting Arthur Arthur, who might still not be exactly believed). With that failing, the options are magic, extraterrestrials, some sort of super heroes technobabble like gene X which Marvel claims is not magic (yeah sure) and earth-origin super-science. WE know that both magic and extraterrestrials are true, but public does not and most people would likely assume just one is involved. Actually, not true. In EGS, it is totally believable that Tedd gets spell for changing gender because he's really into sexy fun and tease/trolling. Remember that both Larry and Rich were markable with girl spells. Sure, spell which specifically changes default form might be different, but I still don't see it as ultimate proof. If Edward decides to not accept it, he can.
