If Liz does confront Elliot, it could go something like this: Liz: Tell me what's really going on with Ashley! Elliot: Uh--look! Is that some kind of demonic duck?! Liz: Funny. Now cut the B.S. Demonic Duck: Hey, Toots. (Elliot escapes while Liz talks with the Demonic Duck.) Or, less entertainingly, Elliot would say he shouldn't talk about it, which would make Liz even more determined to find out.
-
No, it wouldn't. Unless maybe she's the kind of friend that has known Ashley much longer than Elliot, and noticed the similarity between how Ashley was after she discovered Bad Tom was Bad Tom and how she is now, and has doubts about Elliot being as "lovely" as Ashley told her, or that "It's nothing to do with Elliot" as Ashley said while looking down and away...
-
Of course. And there would be no problem if Liz finds out about the party; she won't ask anyone about it, and probably won't even feel left out.
-
And that would be a bad thing? Whether or not Liz has magic, I was thinking about the look Liz had in Friday's last panel.
-
True enough, and he seems to know it. He probably led with something like, "There's this party Saturday..." and then Ashley asked that darn question about somebody's birthday. Ashley's next awkward question might be something like, "I guess that leaves out Liz."
-
I think I see something unprecedented in Panel 5: Liz is actually touching someone. If we get to see lunch, we might get to see Liz and Ashley sitting with Elliot and Tedd. This could prove interesting.

Or maybe scared of Grace? Primarily, maybe, but Justin has probably heard Susan's impression. Not necessarily Grace's; she says "too soon" about Ashley four times in three panels in this comic, set the day before Ashley's first date with Elliot. Ellen refused to get the message.
-
Not like he's ever made a mistake.
-
That's the natural way, and I'd like to see it, but there's a lot of EGS characters and only three pages a week. Plus, I really, really, really want to see Ashley give Bad Tom his just desserts before I die of old age.
-
Are you familiar with Louise the Zero? For that matter, remember why Tedd was thought to have no magic at all.
-
Ring? (Sigh) I should have said watch. (Panel 2). Speaking of green hair, we already had a character with green hair, Liz, and she's been around for a long time.
-
Nanase used to have a spell that gave her total control over her hair before her first burnout. I assume she got it back. Or Ellen could have zapped her, or she could have borrowed Ellen's ring, or gotten one of her own from Cousin Tedd. Or her hair could have gotten longer because her magic is building up. Now she needs to get her ponytail back. I assume the skirt is a pleated kilt. Her whole outfit reminds me of the kind of thing Ashley goes for, especially if she's wearing pants under the skirt. Ellen Dunkel. Dunkelzahn?

I wonder what Grace is thinking.

http://egscomics.com/comic/party-008 Spiffy last panel.

I guess the National Guardsmen weren't particularly good shots. Of course, they didn't get as much practice as the draftees who were actually fighting the war. If you want to know more, I suggest reading James Michener's book Kent State: What Happened and Why.
-
On May 4th, 1970, National Guardsmen killed four students at Kent State University in Ohio protesting the Vietnam War and in particular the recent invasion of Cambodia. On May 4th, 1919, students in Beijing protesting their government's lack of resistance to impositions by foreign powers (mostly Japan) attacked government officials and in turn were set on by police. This gave rise to the May Fourth Movement, which is honored by the Communist Regime in China--which in no way prevents it from crushing student protests now.

17 minutes ago, hkmaly said: I think that we have proof here that Dan has thought about abortion at least once. But it's a touchy subject, and since he hasn't brought it up again in seventeen years...
-
As bad as being married to a man when you'd rather be with a woman? We don't know why Noriko had Van--or why she kept Van. She could have aborted; she could have given him up for adoption. If she has a partner now, that partner might have influenced those decisions.
-
Quite so. Provided, of course, that the "someone else" was a fertile male capable of sex with a woman. Looking at Mrs. Kitsune's attitudes toward her sister and to lesbianism, could they be related? They might be, and if there was emotional entanglement, a sperm donor sounds like a fairly reasonable option. Based on Edward's attitudes toward them, I'd say there are two known suspects who could have become Van's father in the old-fashioned way: Adrian Raven, and Susan's dad. Adrian pretty much had to be sincere about what he said about how Susan and Diane came to descend from him, but Van's much younger than Diane. And Susan's cheating dad who cheated kinda sounds like he would have spread his pollen to many a flower.
-
I said hopeless hope. Tedd can be very logical, but this is an emotional issue for Tedd. Tedd feels he and his father were deserted, and in canon, there is zero evidence so far that that isn't exactly the truth. You're assuming Noriko got married again. The one thing we do know about Noriko is that she was crushed by having a child with no magic. If she felt it was her duty, I could see her simply finding a sperm donor with magic rather than getting emotionally entangled with another man. And what does Noriko have now in Van? She either thinks Van has no magic now, or has found out he does have magic after all. If it's the second alternative, she now has reason to think that Tedd might be the same--even if she doesn't know about Van's and Tedd's little talk with the Will of Magic. In either alternative, she has reasons to be even more ashamed of how she's treated Tedd. Add in the contempt of her sister, and it becomes more understandable why she'd find fighting monsters like Not-Tengu easier than coming home to face the rest of her family. Tedd will definitely say something like that, but not right away, I think. Nanase and Akiko's reactions are also something I'm looking forward to. Notice that Akiko and Van are close to the same age?

Panel 3, about a month ago in Moperville.

If Lavender is going to be seen with Edward in public, and the Uryuom are supposed to be kept secret, she's going to need to be disguised--like William and Gillian. How long has Edward been planning for Tedd to provide this service?
