  1. Story Friday December 07, 2018

There are plenty of guys who don't have a prominent larynx, and some girls who do. And man boobs aren't exactly unknown. A bigger reason for Luke not to be interested in Sam in Squirrel Prophet is that it takes place the day before Voltaire called Cheerleadra "Elliot Dunkel" at the mall. Luke's "mission" is to find Cheerleadra, and that was his primary interest in Justin before he actually met Justin in person. After finding himself attracted to Justin, an extremely masculine man, Luke would likely show even less interest in a somewhat androgynous and not particularly attractive "man" (Sam).
  2. Story Friday December 07, 2018

Like all the other laws of physics, it's more like a polite suggestion in the Moperverse. Just ask Mr. Bluel or Dr. Physics Professor.
  3. Story Friday December 07, 2018

Yes, once Sam gets used to using his powers. However, this is El Goonish Shive, so of course it wouldn't be that simple. If you haven't read it yet, you might check out Boku no Futatsu no Tsubasa for some examples of possible complications along the same line.
  4. Story Friday December 07, 2018

Oh, I can think of a few problems. Given what Dan has showed us of Sam, how many people know he's physically a girl? Sam told Sarah he felt more like himself at Salty Crackers than anywhere else, which seems to be a pretty good indication it's the only place he's sure no one knows he's really physically female. And Sam took off his fake beard before he got home, wherever home is, which probably indicates despite being twenty Sam still lives at home, or has housemates who know him as her. In fact, since Sam is supposed to be a girl, his roommate(s) would probably be female.
  5. Story Friday December 07, 2018

Interesting idea, but it depends on Luke being able to sense Sam is trans. Given that he didn't pick up on Justin being gay, that kind of seems out of Luke's ballpark. However, I have a thought: What if Sam is marked? Pandora was still in full Marker Mode at Salty Crackers during Squirrel Prophet. It might be even more likely if Pandora marked Sam after Luke did use his spell on Sam and found nothing. Why? Because it would be mischievous, of course. Luke wouldn't even have to be involved now for the secret to come out. All that would be needed for circumstances where Sam really, really wants to change his physical gender to whatever is appropriate to the situation.
  6. Story Friday December 07, 2018

Why did Dan set up another card tournament at Salty Crackers when Sam isn't going to show up? Doesn't seem likely that there will be any progress towards the discovery of Sam's secret at the card tournament. As long as the discovery of Elliot transforming by Ashley has been raised, maybe Sam will catch Elliot transforming? Not necessarily into Cheerleadra; Ashley really likes "Rose Elliot".
  7. Story Monday, December 3, 2018

If Ellen shows up tonight, they could be squirrel-girls.
  8. http://www.egscomics.com/ Luke seems scared of Sarah, and Sam isn't showing up.
  9. Story Monday, December 3, 2018

Yet another thought emerged after about six hours of sleep less robocalls and getting up to pee. Sam may have bailed on the date because of some family commitment where he has to be a girl, or maybe someone he can't turn down insisting on coming along to Salty Crackers.
  10. Story Monday, December 3, 2018

I just spent about 24 hours getting the sound back on my laptop. Somehow after all that I'm still awake and having an actual thought: Sarah is an artist. She could become a goddess at Salty Crackers by doing custom character designs. And there could be more. We haven't seen Catalina at Salty Crackers since last (Moperville) spring (in Hammerchlorians). She'd come with Rhoda, of course.
  11. http://www.egscomics.com/ Nice move, Justin.
  12. http://www.egscomics.com/ I put this up over two hours ago and still no responses. So I'll put something in this one. I wonder how long it will take Luke to notice that Sarah has a magical aura that she didn't have two weeks ago. Possibly Luke may refrain from looking at auras tonight after what Grace said to him.
  13. Story, Wednesday, November 28, 2018

Yes, it's been seven years in our time and around nine months in Moperville since Melissa was last seen (April 15 of the previous year according to the Shivepedia timeline.), and I have no idea whether or not Dan ever intends to bring back Melissa. But if he wants to, this would be an interesting time and place to do it.
  14. Story, Wednesday, November 28, 2018

Yes, they did work together, but inside the dojo, which they didn't enter until after the only civilian that saw the fire guy inside the dojo ran out past them. On the other hand, Noah and Cheerleadra ware seen with the dragon out in the open, and there were enough witnesses to attract Carol Brown to the scene in time to get kissed by Heidi on the air.
  15. Story, Wednesday, November 28, 2018

Actually there is a time when Grace and Cheerleadra were flying together: When they arrived just after not-Tengu crashed back in Family Tree, which was around a month ago in Moperville time. Luke also thinks Grace might be the "shadow guy" who is really Noah, yet another flyer. So it's very plausible that Luke totally believes Grace is Cheerleadra's sidekick at this point. There are so many things that could complicate the situation here at Salty Crackers. Here are a few possibilities: Rich and Larry again--practically mandatory. Melissa decides to show up to see Justin--and brings along Noah, which means that Luke could figure out Noah is really the Shadow Guy. That guy who Noah was talking to over his phone comes over, or maybe he's already there. Want to bet he's not marked? (Or, for that matter, he's a she?) Lucy and Diane show up. Lucy's a credible fan of this fantasy card game, and Diane would probably like to make a griffin-based deck. Tedd again. And, of course, Pandora. The greater the numbers of her family showing up, the more credible.
  16. Story, Wednesday, November 28, 2018

I clip down my soul patch once in awhile, but mostly I just trim my mustache. I've let the rest of my beard grow out because, unlike what head hair I have, It's turned gray or white, and I don't have to show ID to any bus drivers to get the senior fare. I think the reason Dan gave Luke a soul patch is because there's another regular at Salty Crackers who had glasses, hair and a chin beard like Luke's but in different colors. And since we're in grayscale now, it would be harder to tell them apart.
  17. Story, Friday Nov 23, 2018

All true, as far as it goes. However, much as I like the basketball game scenario, the one that Dan can set up with the least work is probably one involving MSHS. I'm really hoping Dan goes with basketball, though, because cheerleaders.
  18. Story, Friday Nov 23, 2018

Remember how Grace left that note for Adrian way back in Death Sentence? Grace might have a class with Sam, or leave a note in Sam's locker.
  19. Story, Friday Nov 23, 2018

Oh, I'm sure Grace will have no problem finding a way to talk to Sam privately at Salty Crackers. Personally, I think there's even more potential for disaster in Grace recognizing Sam when Samantha is in her "normal" guise as a girl.
  20. Story, Friday Nov 23, 2018

Where would Grace find Sam? We do know Sam is still in high school, but which high school? The only place we've seen Sam and Grace together is at Salty Crackers. Since Sam drove to Salty Crackers the night he met Sarah, he might not even live in Moperville, so he could be in a high school we've never heard of. My favorite answer to this question is that Sam has been at Moperville North all along, but looks very different at school--in other words, like a girl. Hair in a bun, nerdy glasses, maybe even a little makeup--Sam could pull it off. However, this also means Grace couldn't meet Sam at school--unless there was some reason for students from both schools to be together, like, for instance, a basketball game.
  21. Story Wednesday November 21, 2018

It's the expression on Grace's face in the last panel that makes this one for me.
  22. Story Wednesday November 14, 2018

Gee, Grace is worried about telling Sarah about Pandora. That's interesting, since Sarah actually knows Pandora, whereas Grace has never met her.
  23. Story Friday November 02, 2018

So, another amazing crackpot plot theory turned out to be more cracked than amazing; the New World won't be totally centered on Diane. And while we're discussing various ways to mangle Justin's name, has anyone noticed that adding an "e" turns Justin into Justine? How could this been overlooked after so many genderbends in and out of canon?
  24. http://egscomics.com/comic/tlod-032 Diane still hasn't gotten Justin's name right, but she's got good intentions.
  25. Story Monday October 29, 2018

Last names are a precious resource in EGS. I think the only characters who have first and last names besides the Main Eight are Matthew Cohen, Carol Brown, Akiko Kitsune, Adrian Raven, and Catalina Bobcat. You'd think Diane would have a last name by now; maybe by the end of this entire arc which is named after her. I'm rooting for "Holmes".
