I pondered for a while where this should go and after due consideration decided to put it here. At the moment, the Danish extreme right wing is splintering into several small parties. The only thing they hate more than one another is anything that is not Danish. Someone took all the conditions these people demand be satisfied before you count as Danish. It turns out that when you put them all together, they are impossible to fulfil. Thus, according to them, nobody in Denmark counts as Danish. Sigh.

There is no comparison. Twilight Sparkle has more sense (common AND horse) in her left rear hoof than may be found in the entirety of the Twilight book series.

They got put out of business back when Twilight made the vampire bubble burst, because no-one took vampires seriously anymore.

Indeed. Funnily enough, I have been expecting focus to switch to Tedd sooner or later. But the explanation for my thoughts probably belongs in the speculation threads.

  10. EGS Strip Slaying

I did like it when gay marriage was legalised all over the US and some people were like, "That's it. I'm moving to Canada," and the Canadians were like, "Uh..."
  11. Story for Friday, September 30, 2016

Let's see. Susan is going to bring Justin. At that moment, Justin happens to be in the company of Luke and due to a verbal miscommunication brings him along. Ashley is initially alone but near the entrance to the Verres home she spots a hurt puppy, picks it up and brings it along. Soon after, Good Tom and his girlfriend dramatically enter through a window, intending to save the puppy. That is when Sarah arrives, but speaking of puppies, Larry has attached himself to her and she hasn't had the heart to tell him to go away. Both are being shadowed by a suspicious Rich who believes that something conspiracious is going on. Meanwhile, Tensaided has decided to close early that day. Seeing that Rich is trailing Sarah and Larry, he suspects that Rich is up to no good and follows him to lay down the decahedronic law on him. However, George had just then decided to rent the latest Jason D. Poit movie and spotted Tensaided close the place early. He promptly gives chase, hoping to make Tensaided reopen the store a moment. But as it happens, Greg and Dex spots the cavalcade and attach themselves to its rear end because Greg is worried about what is going on. This is when Twilight Sparkle rings the doorbell to the Verres place, looking for Tara and Andrea. (Shut up. The other side has griffins, right? Then it has unicorns, too. By my mandate.) A somewhat bewildered Grace opens the door for her at which point practically everybody else arrives... Cue Marx Brothers stateroom scene.

Indeed. Today's strip was the tail end of the midjinks.
  13. Political Discussion Thread (READ FIRST POST)

The Moderator: I have decided to tentatively unlock this thread due to the fact that the current political situation is intense enough that people may desire to have a place to express concerns and because I am no longer in as shaken an emotional state as I was back when my friend had just died. Thus, I feel better able to manage moderating it. As always, I request of people to be especially careful with respecting the FAQ in this thread and to be equally careful in how they phrase their concerns here. ~tOH.

    Psychotic break-coloured.

Sadly, Hathor closed that restaurant around the same time the Library of Alexandria burned down. Seems like some drunken legionaries wrecked it in a brawl and she just got tired of all the effort.
  16. Story: Friday, September 23, 2016

In one issue of X-Men three of our heroes -- Colossus, Nightcrawler and Wolverine -- decide to go bar crawling. At the bar they run into Juggernaut. Juggernaut just wants to drink but Colossus, being dumber than a sack of rocks, insists on picking a fight with him. Cue massive property damage; the bartender and other customers hastily vacate the premises. One customer tells the bartender, "You're taking this awfully calmly." Replies the bartender, "I have super-hero insurance." Customer: "Super-hero insurance?" Bartender: "In New York City, you can't do without it." (Incidentally, Colossus lost the fight and Juggernaut walked off looking for another bar to drink in. Nightcrawler and Wolverine both stayed out of the fight, neither of them being stupid.)

Give it time. We're still only at the midjinks.

That was basically how I felt about our last election here in Denmark.
  19. Things You Only Noticed On Reread

Ah yes. The Hoisters. Then again, if you really want to see the Foglios and their crew cut loose on science (or rather, SCIENCE!), I can only highly recommend the Girl Genius webcomic. It is absolutely brilliant. Mind you, its archive is HUGE by now so be warned: anyone who goes to look may not return for days. Or weeks.
  20. Story, Wednesday September 21, 2016

This is true! But happily (if unintentionally) it also led to a lot of independent comics rebelling against the Code and specifically exploring all the themes it banned. Some of these alternative comics were true marvels and eventually had great influence on the mainstream. (As a kid, I absolutely loved the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers. Many years later someone told me that they 'glorified the use of drugs'. I was, like, WHAT? If there was one thing those comics did NOT, it was glorifying drug use. On the contrary, while the Freak Brothers generally got portrayed as sympathetic, a persistent theme was how much they totally screwed themselves up with their drug abuse.)

I have for a while now felt that the 60s should properly be termed the Stoner Age.

As a wee lad, I actually thought that Boeing was supposed to be 'Boing.' We were about to fly from Copenhagen to New York and I was not entirely confident in a make of airplanes with that name.
