No no, I am very familiar with baseball analogies. It's what you think of whenever you feel exceptionally horny. I have never seen a baseball game but I assume that these things are essentially the next best thing to hardcore porn.

"Transsexual" is a term I'm somewhat glad to see fade out, for the sake of linguistic consistency (not that such consistency is a common thing in English). Pretty much every word that ends in "sexual" is about sexual interest... and then drop in one word that's about self-identification?

And I dislike that usage intensely, because lumping gender-neutral and mildly genderfluid people (me, for example) in with the people who experience severe gender dysphoria 24/7/365, in my opinion, belittles the latter.

Well, one's broken, so definitely not the whole tooth. And the other is scheduled for a crown, so not nothing but the tooth.

Don't feel bad about being slow - I figured out that I'm mildly genderfluid about a month after my great-grandson's first birthday.
But this could explain why I've occasionally gotten an impression of carefully-contained, undirected bitterness from you.
Maybe the realization will help you. I know that while the 20-minute bouts of gender dysphoria a few times a year weren't ever really a problem for me, finally actually recognizing what they were helped me deal with them when they happen. So it would make sense that the same sort of understanding would help someone with a more substantial case (but then, there's a lot about humans that doesn't make sense).
And I hope the realization doesn't cause you a lot of grief from outside.

I am developing a pretty strong suspicion that this woman goes 'quack quack quack' and flies south for the winter.

Exude... when our eldest got her first apartment, she had almost no furniture but sat in the middle of the floor gloating over it being hers so hard I warned her she might stain the carpet.

"Too many people are figuring out that the height-weight chart, reducing fitness to just two numbers, is over-simplified. What shall we do?"
"Hey, how about if we divide one of those numbers by the other and call it some sort of index? That sounds all scientific and stuff."
"Brilliant! Let's see... we want big numbers to be bad, and not have to deal with fractions, so let's divide weight by height. Does 'Body Mass Index' work?"
"All agreed?... okay, that's settled. Next issue..."

Actually, on that specific point Keynes was significantly preceded by Henry Ford.
Keynes laid out a plan where in economic bad times the government would spend freely to get things moving, borrowing if necessary to do so. Then in times of prosperity the government would cut spending and raise taxes to pay off debt and build up reserves against future bad times.
The politicians loved the first half of that plan. The second... well, all that borrowing and spending didn't cause a problem during the downturn, so when things are going well it should be okay to borrow and spend even more wildly, right?
Thing is, Keynes had twice publicly expressed disgust at how politicians were mucking things up. He'd built his reputation by laying out in detail the consequences of a specific instance of politicians mucking things up. And yet he gained power and influence by, in effect, assuming politicians would not muck things up - and I can't believe that this genius with this great depth of experience was that stupid.
Unfortunately, that means I think he sold out and betrayed his science, the world, and the principles that led him to walk out on the British negotiators at Versailles, for his own personal profit.

My then-son-in-law had three cats, one of them an orange Maine Coon. Once I brushed that cat and made about 18" of thick yarn from the single brushing.
Maine Coons are one of the larger breeds of domestic cat, and also tend to be fluffy-furred.

Also in 1919, a moderately respected but little-known British economist - who had walked off the British negotiating team at Versailles in disgust a year earlier - published a book laying out the economic and political history of Europe from about 1920 to about 1938. Yes, it was a future history. Yes, he was substantially correct, and this made him an extremely respected and well-known British economist.
    But not an influential one.
This was actually the second time he had walked off a job as economic advisor to the British government, thoroughly disgusted at how politicians mucked things up.
In 1936 he published another book, describing the huge benefits to be achieved by having the politicians run the economy. This made him an extremely influential British economist.
Of course, the politicians mucked things up. I'm 99.99% confident that he expected them to.

Occam's Razor is not a law. We should tentatively assume that all green hair color has the same source, until we find some reason to think otherwise. However it's a very weak assumption, and it's about the limits of our understanding more than about the reality we're trying to understand.

    Hey everybody,
I have an announcement to make. After some recent developments in my life I have finally come to the realisation that I am transgender. I have been so deep in denial about this, repressed so many memories, that the first of my close friends I spoke to about it was not surprised to learn at all. The irony of this is not lost on me.
I've changed my avatar; that was the easy part. I am still working on the rest of it. You do not have to pay attention to this if you do not feel it concerns you. I merely wished to announce it here. That's all.
    Best regards,
    ~tOH.
