Because there are always people who think they're allowed to do anything that's not expressly illegal, and who will refuse to see the "other" as a human being with rights unless they are forced to. If the bigots don't want to share a bathroom with someone who's trans, then they can be the ones to hold it to the point of pain or try to find another bathroom to use.

That only works if every transwoman is able to pass absolutely and perfectly as a woman, with no one who is bigoted against them able to tell that they're trans. In reality, many transwomen either cannot afford the extensive cosmetic surgery that would require, or are too early in the transition process to look exactly like a ciswoman yet, and some even choose not to undergo the very real risk that such surgeries pose just to let bigots pretend they don't exist by becoming invisible. A transwoman who is 6' 2" and has a five o'clock shadow and an Adam's apple is not going to be able to use the women's room in peace.

Huh. Somehow, I was always under the impression Susie and her boyfriend had gone up in the balcony of the movie theater together. I just checked the lyrics, and there is nothing there to indicate a drive-in versus a movie theater, either of us could be right. Seems to me it would be awfully difficult to pass unnoticed at a drive-in when closing time came; surely they'd want to get all the cars off the property and lock up at the end of the night. A seldom-used balcony, on the other hand, could be a place they only bother to go up to clean if they know someone was up there, like at a very popular movie where the main floor is full. I always wondered if the pair were locked in the theater....

If they know who Elliot is, they won't dare judge, at least not out loud. If they don't know them, then they'd probably assume it's some guy comforting his girlfriend after bad news. Heck, if Tedd winds up staying a girl, Ashley would probably be totally okay with a threesome. She'd likely be okay with it if Tedd stayed a guy, too, except that Elliot stated at some point that he's straight, and I haven't seen any sign of that changing; I don't see the Best Friends dynamic changing between Elliot and Tedd unless given a heck of a push. (Give how Elliot sees Sarah as a sister, I suspect the two threesomes Tedd would then be in would not merge.... ;-)

Be careful about that! Any medication that can be absorbed through the skin of a human can be absorbed through the skin of a pet and/or be ingested off of their fur when they groom. Depending on what the medication is, that can lead to bad things for the pet, including a lot if expensive and annoying tests trying to find out the cause of their new symptoms if owners don't think to mention the ointment.

In addition to what TOH has already pointed out, Trump wanted to include an exception for Christians, describing them as a "persecuted minority," even in areas where there was much more danger to members of Muslim minorities than to Christian ones, even some areas where Christians were not in any particular danger at all. So your assertion that there is no mention of religion is not exactly accurate, or at least not a reflection of Trump's intentions.

If Joshua Norton was his original name, but he chose to rule as Emperor Norton, then Norton is the name he is known as. He could have chosen to be Emperor Joshua, just as another monarch could have been known as Queen Alexandrina. Or Queen Hanover, if she had chosen. Instead, we had the reign of Queen Victoria.

That would be if every emperor had the same name. Emperor Norton, followed by Empress Noreen, followed by the short-lived Emperor Mike, then Emperor Bob, Empress Joan....

When TeslaCon had a year set in an International Congress of Steam, and then later one set in the Old West, I was sorely tempted to come as Empress Noreen I, daughter and sole heiress of Emperor Norton I, and see if I could talk some of the dealers into very publicly accepting my own hand-made Official Declaration of Thanks and/or Receipt For Payment of Taxes in return for actual goods and services (which would, of course, be paid for with real money ahead of time -- those artists and crafters work hard for not nearly enough as it is!). I chickened out, partly for lack of time to assemble a suitably grand-but-shabby costume and create the tax receipts. ;-)

Maybe the note is ensorcelled to be extra-sharp print, beyond normal pen or pencil capacity. I've found I can read remarkably small print on a Retina display. Or, perhaps the magic magnifies whatever spot on the page the reader is looking at. Although I do like the mental image of a text scroll deliberately done in the style of the Star Wars intros....

I wonder if Tedd is contemplating the possibility that they might have to cause a system change? If a situation arose where their friends were in mortal danger from a magic-user, for example. Or they could decide at some point that anything would be better than the current system, or at least that the odds were much better that it would improve things than that it would make things any worse,...

If it does, he'd also be without his Modern Dress And Knowledge spell. He'd be stuck speaking Old English or some equivalent, and no longer know about how modern stuff like cars and locks work. If every government magical agent suddenly didn't know how to use magic any more, you can be sure someone would decide to confiscate the CMD for government use, and Tedd's dad might not be able to stop them, even if he wanted to. Legally, it might still belong to the Uryuoms who gave it to Tedd, so it's possible they could try to stop them if they found out in time, or file a protest and try to get their stuff back, but given that their government disapproves of their having it and they only got to keep it because if a grandfather clause, the Uryuom government might not be willing to cause a diplomatic incident over it. (The possibility might give Mr. Verres a leg to stand on, though....)

I hope they can do something for you. If you were closer, I'd bring over our therapy laser and see if that helps; it seems to help some of our Inter-Vertebral Disc Disease patients.
