Nanase did say she herself got a late start with magic. Maybe natural talents usually manifest closer to Akiko's age? As for Akiko not knowing about Nanase's magic, "Hah!" I say. Trying to keep a secret fron an active, inquisitive, smart little girl? Lots of luck with that! We've already seen Akiko makes a habit of listening around doorways and such.

What would you like to see in the sketchbook?
CritterKeeper replied to Tom Sewell's topic in EGS Sketchbook Discussion
I'm strongly reminded of what Harry Dresden saw when he looked at Karrin Murphy with his Wizard's Sight. I wonder if Noah is a fan of Jim Butcher's works? Seems like he might well be.... -
What would you like to see in the sketchbook?

Which one would be in which costume? We know Greg has cosplayed as female characters.... But wouldn't that make Vladia jealous? ;-) It would have to be Hermione and Ron, just based on what we've seen of their personalities.... [Oh, look, the above popped up when I clicked the reply box for the more recent posts. Guess I'd started to reply, back lasttime this thread was active, and the system still had my draft-in-progress!] -
I think someone suggested Mildred (for Mild-mannered) but it never really caught on.

Should I have the USGS Earthquake web site handy for when they play "And the walls come tumbling down" or "Shake, Rattle and Roll"? Hmm, maybe there's a reason certain techs won't let me play Christmas music untl Christmas Eve....

Perhaps Diane looked different enough from both parents that it was obvious she was not their biological offspring. Different race would be the most immediately obvious. A couple set enough on having their own biological offspring, instead of adopting, to invest the time and effort of IVF, would be a lot less likely to be willing to raise a child who was obviously not "their own" just because of some mix-up at the clinic.

He seemed pretty attracted to male-Sarah at Grace's birthday party, but the TFG can also alter such things. I can't think if any evidence one way or another, and even if I could, it's possible his orientation has broadened as much as his gender identity has.
-
Hey, right now we know that Elliot can swap physical sexes and doesn't really care which he is most of the time, Tedd can change physical sex to match his current gender, and Elliot is aggressively against homophobia. If Tedd can get over his lingering issues with being romantic with male forms other than his own, they'd be perfect for each other! And I suspect Grace would be fine with a triad, or whatever shape they'd end up with....

Before Nanase went to Edward, he had no reason to think that he'd need to do anything else for them to learn the truth. Edward would confirm that Susan was adopted and there's be no problem. It wasn't until Edward said there was no chance Susan and Diane were twins that he'd have realized their assumptions were wrong, and he may not have been watching during that conversation, he might have been with Susan, or even Diane, instead. This might be the first Jerry is hearing of Edward's info, too. (And even if he was there, appearing in front of a DGB higher-up is likelya risky move, even for an Immortal....)

I've mentioned it before, but the radio at work seems to have a sense of humor, or at least irony. I was performing a euthanasia this morning, and realized the radio was playing "...won't always be there, so love me when I'm gone, when I'm gone..."

It's just a jump to the left, and then a step to the right....

Yes, Susan's angst-induced Awakening did cause her hair to go permanently dark-blue, although I've never really understood why -- the hair coloring was related to her father's cheating, nothing to do with the incident in France. However, in this world that is officially recognized by the medical authorities as something that can happen spontaneously, so at most they might be curious to see whether Diane would show any tendency to the same phenomena. As for the height, if Diane was in a different environment, at a different nutritional plane, that might explain the height difference at first glance. If they looked close enough to see that Susan had a late growth spurt Diane did not, they might start theorizing about hormone exposures in Susan's environment, from plastics to a close contact using transdermal hormone creams.

...and that sort of reaction is probably exactly why Dan explained the figure of speech in the commentary.... I'm pretty sure there is a centrifuge involved at some point in most of the DNA tests I'm familar with, so swinging it is a vital part of the process. My first reaction is that the ages are wrong, but I have seen plenty of aunts and uncles younger than their nieces and nephews. My second was that I'm not anyone's aunt, but it then occurs to me that two different cousins are parents; isn't there some sort of once-removed sort of qualification under which that would make me an auntie? Who says he has a different name now? And I suspect that Immortals have had enough bad reactions to suddenly popping into conversations, making it obvious that they've been eavesdropping, that they are pretty cautious about doing so. How would you feel if someone you'd been talking about suddenly chirped up from a hidden microphone and speaker with the rebuttal to something you'd just said about them, reminding you that they could have hidden microphones and cameras on you all the time? Jerry says he found out with the same information Nanase and Ellen did. He probably either was there for the events in queston, or heard them discussing them. If he follows Susan part of the time, and Nanase part of the time, he's likely been in Nanase and Ellen's school enough to have seen Diane for himself.

I could see having both -- a non-spoiler History section which tells stuff that happened prior to the comic's start, and a Spoilers section, preferably hidden when the page is opened (like TV Tropes' closed folders or the spoiler protection here), but easy to open to read, which covers stuff from the comic itself (including padt history stuff that would be a spoiler to someone reading EGS for the first time). Seems like a nice thorough wiki should have both.

pinup Pinup: Wednesday November 30, 2016 (Double: Tea experiments)
CritterKeeper replied to Scotty's topic in EGS Sketchbook Discussion
Except it wouldn't really be seeing Sarah naked, it would be seeing a transformed figure naked while Sarah's mind happens to be inside it. Actually, I think Grace is wise enough to realize that it would be a bad idea to go anywhere under the influence of Tea that they wouldn't go otherwise. Especially if it were making Tedd uncomfortable, but even if he seemed willing, I see her being the voice of reason here, precisely because being naked isn't a big deal to her and thus she'd be the one thinking most clearly. -
Things That Are Just Annoying
CritterKeeper replied to CritterKeeper's topic in Off Topic Discussion
I dunno, I usually take pills one at a time unless they're pretty small. My sister had an awful-tasting pill she had to take, and she would always take it with chocolate milk to help cover up the bad taste. :-)- 1,912 replies

Adrian describes Agent Wolf as "one of the most powerful wizards in the Midwestern United States." Agent Cranium could well be another of the most powerful wizards. She could even be more powerful than Wolf.

Oh, and of course Tedd's mother, wherever she is, likely also knows about the godson thing, but does not necessarily know about Pandora being Adrian's mother.
-
Interesting to remember that Tedd still has no idea that Pandora has any special interest in him. I don't think anyone but Edward and Adrian know about Adrian being Tedd's godfather. We don't know if Edward knows about Pandora being Adrian's mother, so the only ones who might realize Pandora considers Tedd to be family are Adrian and the Emissary of Magic, and the Emissary only knows while he's casting that particular spell.

No, and a garlic press isn't garlic. A machine can be named for or described in terms of what it processes, not just what it's made of.
-
Yes, but Pandora is several centuries old. Jerry has only just reset. It would be quite reasonable for Jerry to get a lot less information than Pandora. Heck, we've got evidence Pandora saw more than Jerry, even before Jerry reset, in the way Pandora was able to detect and Mark an innate affinity in Sarah, when Jerry couldn't even detect the affinity.

The cow is a machine to convert vegetation into meat and milk. From that certain point of view I was discussing, that is.
