::facepalms:: Yeah, I totally had the math wrong...at minimum that would be 140, I'll give Washington D.C. at least 20 as well because it's the capital. Also we've seen more than 4 in the Illinois branch, there's Edward, Wolf, Cranium, Arthur, Edward's boss, plus these two unnamed agents. Would Lavender be considered an agent or is she strictly Edward's assistant? Either way that's 7 who are connected to DGB.

I dunno, there is a Type 3 Chi-Nu girl that complains about a Leichttraktor being elected as student council president. Looking at screenshots, and some of the references are pretty ridiculous, a Tiger I girl at the beach in swimwear asking if you like her "amphibious attachments", a Panzer IV apologizing for being late because she forgot her armored skirt...

  4. Story Monday November 21, 2016

He was introduced as having connections with the FBI as a consultant though. There's been no evidence of anyone questioning if the FBI had wizards, and it was clear that he wanted to keep it that way. In the conversation between Arthur and Cranium, the us of the plural "agents" suggests more than we've been shown, I'd be willing to expect a dozen to maybe at most 20 under Arthur's branch in Illinois mainly because of Moperville being unusually more active in paranormal stuff. If there are branches in every state, it might range in staff from 2-10 depending on paranormal activity in each state. So there's probably less than 100 agents in the FBI. Though it is possible there might be more agents if they're always recruiting people they find with talents for magic.
  5. Story Monday November 21, 2016

I think that they're both of the same time period, and that magic was viewed differently than it is now yet still maintain enough mystery. Yes it's possible that there was more interaction between the halves, but I don't think that Pandora or Blaike was from the other half. I not saying there is something they can do, at best I think they can try to figure out the cause of increased energy and such. Beyond that, Arthur likely feels that there's nothing else they can do without adding to the speculation of magic and how easy it could be obtained, so he wants DGB to keep as low a profile as possible to avoid making things worse. His act during the interview, while Edward didn't agree, Justin's comment that Arthur came off as a nutcase might be closer to what Arthur wants. Sure, he came out and said magic was real and that there are people with power, but if he makes himself look like one of those people, yet is never seen being involved in any of the stuff that happens, people wouldn't easily believe that Arthur and his organization are such people, so they may believe that it's rare for people to have powers. Take the dragon fight, there were 3 people involved in that who had powers, 2 of whom were obviously special, if DGB showed up with 5 or more people waving wands around, that might get the public wondering just how many people could have magic powers and question the rarity of it.
  6. Story Monday November 21, 2016

She seems to know quite a bit about this side, even her previous life has experiences from this side. It could be possible that she's jumped between both halves in her lives, but considering Abraham is from this half it's more likely that Blaike was also in this half, maybe there was a time when it was easier to pass between the halves and so this half occasionally saw dragons and lionbears come over. Magic was probably known to the public back then as well, but was made to believe that a person had to be really special in order to use it so everyone knew about people like Abraham but they were secretive enough to keep the use of magic from going mainstream, kinda like today's "magicians" like David Copperfield, some even show how they do some of the more mundane tricks to show that it's just a matter of tricking a person's perception rather than actual magic, so everyone believes that it's just all in their minds that something is magical in the true sense and therefore they could sneak in some actual magic because people already have it figured that there's smoke and mirrors involved. Heck, this is probably why Arthur Arthur is doing what he's doing, he know's that it's impossible to maintain the "it's just fancy tricks of perception" facade and is falling back on the "there are special people who can do this." route, keeping people from thinking that just anyone could use magic would probably be enough to minimize the damage and then all they have to do is make sure those who can do magic, keep the knowledge of how they got it to themselves. Arthur's plan so far seems pretty flawed considering how close magic is to changing the system, makes me wonder if he knows that magic can change the system if it becomes too mainstream and he feels DGB's involvement wouldn't do any good and is just letting things play out and hoping for the best.
  7. Story Monday November 21, 2016

She has kinda given riddles to Magus, though she hasn't done it much, seems more her style to just be vague with the truth and sidestep giving solid answers if she feels she could have fun with it rather than have people try to figure out riddles.
  8. Story Monday November 21, 2016

Thing is, Susan saw herself as the woman she caught her dad with, which is why she originally dyed her hair. Though she did have moments where she either liked the blonde(briefly), or at least was indifferent enough to not change it right away, though it's possible she had to put up with being blonde for the weekend because she didn't have any hair dye on hand and the store was closed. Still I don't think she'd hold anything against Diane, Susan would be told that Diane was adopted and understand that Diane wouldn't have known that she was the product of an affair and so wouldn't have had any reason to change her hair. Susan might have something to say about Diane's treatment of men as it could be seen as a reason Susan's father cheated in the first place, like maybe the woman Susan caught her dad with seduced him, I don't really think that's how it happened and think her dad might just have a thing for blondes. I'm not so sure, the woman Susan caught her dad with seemed pretty young, like college aged, if it was Diane's mom, she could have probably been underaged when she gave birth to Diane, which I guess would be a good reason for Diane being put up for adoption, but that would also mean that Mr Pompoms committed statutory rape.
  9. Story Monday November 21, 2016

They do have family capable of pulling charts out of thin air, but I don't think they've mastered the art of exposition enough to do so themselves, Nanase is too blunt and to the point still, and Ellen has a tendency to just ramble....hmm I wonder if combining the two would be enough to balance it out and while each alone wouldn't be able to produce a chart, the two of them together might?
  10. Story Monday November 21, 2016

12 years actually. And this is how I hoped Nanase would get to it with Susan, it's how she explained it to Elliot and Edward, can't see her beating around the bush considering how determined she's been to talk to Susan about Diane. Ellen's still pretty nervous about how Susan will react, and so far we've got a stunned Susan, it could either become shocked or outraged (cus Nanase is likely going to drop the cheating father bomb next) or Susan would be like "I should have expected that the bimbo I caught him with years ago wasn't the first one." I'm still hoping that knowing that Diane was given up for adoption would get some sympathy from Susan rather that Susan despising Diane for being the product of a cheating father. What I really want to see happen, is Susan and Diane either hug or shake hands, then both immediately pull out the hand sanitizer.

Why would he use the white shirt, although it is possible Elliot might finally have male morph spells now, as it is with the female morphs, if Elliot put on a shirt that hadn't been transformed when he turned she, it won't likely transform when she turns back to he. The blue shirt though would stay feminized though and has been the basis for Ellen asking to borrow morphed outfits, but it seems like more work to do something like that just to change an outfit. Rhoda's spell seems to have more potential use in that she could shrink a bunch of bulky items, pack them up, then unshrink each of them as needed. Possible, I think Catalina is about the same size as what Amanda shrunk to with her shrink soda, so that is probably the smallest a person can safely get. This is pure speculation, but maybe Magic has some weird and unpredictable side effects if someone attempted to push an enchantment beyond the limits? I guess the closest I can think of might be Tedd's size change watches and how he attempted to make the minimum looseness looser. Heck, maybe that's the whole reason why there were so many transformation mishaps between Tedd, Sarah and Grace, because Tedd tried to go too far with an enchantment and magic was like "nope, it's nudity for you!"
  12. NP Wednesday November 16, 2016

The difference between Elliot and Rhoda is Rhoda can target other people and objects to enchant, Elliot's morphs are strictly applied to himsel, so of course Elliot wouldn't be able to affect clothing that's been morphed with him, then taken off. Rhoda has the advantage of resizing anything she points her palms at, and as such should also be able to reverse and enchantment in the same manner. I'm not talking digestion though, I'm talking chemicals that can be absorbed into the bloodstream systemically, like how it's possible for harmful toxins to enter through the pores of your skin so you're required to wear protective gloves and such when handling that material, or in the case of someone having a hypoglaecemic episode, it's recommended to put something sugary under the tongue where the sugar can be quickly absorbed into the bloodstream. The same could happen with the cookie in that as soon as Rhoda started chewing, the enchantment would start being absorbed into the body. Possible, though it's also possible that anyone inside would be protected and the car would break apart instead of crushing the occupants. Like a reverse of someone affected by a growth enchantment being able to bust through concrete without being hurt. Though I would be more inclined to think that anything inside the car would also shrink or grow just like things in pockets. Not sure if Catalina would shrink further if that happened of if she is at the absolute minimum size, we know it's the smallest Rhoda can make at the moment, but is it possible to make someone microscopic, but stacking enchants, like shrink Catalina, then put her in a box and shrink the box, then put it in another box and shrink that?
  13. NP Monday November 21, 2016

Catalina! You almost said something other than jackass or a variant of it! There's a commercial that's been around for a couple years now that has an old lady walking through a grocery store carrying on a conversation with seemingly no one while other customers give her odd looks, until she brushes her hair back to reveal a bluetooth earpiece for a cellphone. So yeah it'd be very believable that Rhoda could be talking over speaker with Catalina. Catalina's little slip would raise eyebrows, but I don't think anyone would really think it'd be worth investigating.
  14. NP Wednesday November 16, 2016

It's possible that Rhoda could simply remove the enchantment from the keys. If the keys aren't on her anymore it should be treated as a separate enchantment when disenchanting them. I want to analyze the spell for a moment. When Rhoda enchanted the cookie, it was essentially similar to the shrink sodas of Gherman Labs as in when ingested the enchantment was absorbed into the body, the soda took it further in that since it was a liquid, it could be absorbed through the skin. Now it seems strange to think this could be possible with something else, but with magic having a will and flair for the dramatic and possibly even being trolly, I wouldn't be surprised if attempting to insert an enchanted key into the ignition would allow the enchantment to affect the car. That said, I don't think this is the same thing as having shrunken Catalina in an enlarged jacket pocket so I don't see Rhoda's enchantment affecting Catalina's enchantment directly, the only issue I can see there being is if Rhoda does something to affect either enchantment and it gets applied to both because of their proximity to each other.
  15. NP Wednesday November 16, 2016

When they get to the car, and Catalina is out of the pocket, Rhoda could likely just return to normal before starting the car. Then again, we don't really know which one of them drove, it could be Catalina's car in which case she'd have to be unshrunk before they can start the car, although really once they're in the car they can undo the size enchantments without much risk of someone noticing. It's also possible that if they didn't want to risk anyone seeing them changing size, Rhoda might just take the keys out of her pocket (or Catalina takes her keys out) and returns them to normal size only. What would be funny though is if the keys worked like the cookie in that using resized keys on the car would transfer the enchantment to the car and shrink or enlarge it. A rookie mistake for sure, but I think Rhoda would consider the possibility considering her experience with the cookie and try to avoid it.
  16. Political Discussion Thread (READ FIRST POST)

We have a similar problem in Canada where the government has been increasing minimum wage every year, it's currently $11.40 in Ontario, $12.20 in Alberta and Nunavut is $13.00, Alberta is also going to be $15.00 by October of 2018. Thing is though, whenever minimum wage goes up, the prices of goods and services goes up as well in order to maintain the profit margin, this is made worse by unions asking for more wage increases and such which also causes increased prices of goods and suddenly those who are making minimum wage are still barely scraping by. Unions were good back in the day when workers had to deal with poor working conditions and getting paid next to nothing for long hours which by today's standard would be extremely close to slave labour, but now I feel like all they want to do is see how much more they can get.

Or she becomes even more hypnotized by the movements of said "huge tracts of land".
  18. Story Friday November 18, 2016

Well as I said in the NP thread, there is a chain of "Family Video" stores that still exists so it is quite plausible, we're just not sure if Tensaided's store would be part of a chain or just the one store he owns. I will say to the comment of old geezers and netflix though, a couple week ago I got a call from someone asking for help in setting up an on demand streaming service (it wasn't netflix but it was similar), my grandmother had recommended me since I always fix their computer. I'll tell you, I had never set up a streaming service before, nor had I ever used an iPad so it took me a while to figure things out, but I managed, the tiny keyboard/remote control didn't help much with my large fingers though. I'm just 37, so I think it's more like people get set in a zone where they're comfortable with and don't want to budge, like with me, I'm a PC person, PC's haven't changed too much in terms of hardware since "plug-n-play" became the standard. The geezers would be from a time when VHS was much more common and so they'd be used to that, even if they still couldn't figure out how to set the clocks on those.

Not anymore: "sparkly full Sailor Senshi-style male Tedd into Magical Girl Tedd" Took the lead, I favorited your Rhoda one to give it a boost so that it might make in into the actual polls, but honestly, I can't help but be intrigued by what Dan would draw for a human Angelic Tweeting Bird.

So...I got looking at the map of Naperville again, and the only mall around is Fox Valley Mall, it's got a store called Books-A-Million, which in EGS becomes Tons-A-Books. I've also found Graham Crackers Comics, however it's not near a river... but it is right next to the Springbrook Prairie Forest Preserve and it is practically down the road from Naperville Central Highschool (most likely MSHS in EGS). It's also not hard to get to the mall from the comic shop, and there's a Pro Martial Arts dojo kitty corner to the mall as well and it looks like it's tucked behind other buildings which fits what "Heidi" tells Melissa. There's an IKEA in Bolingbrook on the eastern side of Naperville, but Fox Valley Mall is clear across town on the west side. Also, in looking at this map again, I realized that I assumed the mall was the Riverbrook shopping center based on the fact that there was a railway separating it and the park with the tower, I'm now thinking that Elliot and Ashley drove from the mall to the shopping center to meet up with Ellen, though considering the directions Elliot started giving Ellen, it seems a bit far to be "in the mall area, but not", but there's no other place near enough to the mall but on the other side of the tracks. Then again, Elliot's ability to give directions is questionable and Ellen probably only understood them because of the simple fact that she's Elliot's duplicate, so "in the mall area, but not" could mean a 15 minute drive down the road. I also don't think Sarah took Grace to that particular mall, because it's just one large building, but I haven't been able to find anywhere that would have a dark alley, maybe Dan took some liberties on the actual layout of the mall and added an alley. I'm also not sure about where Tensaided's video store could be, there's several Redbox booths scatter about and a couple "Family Video" stores, one of which is down the road from the IKEA in the Bolingbrook area...oh it's a chain of stores, do we know for sure if Tensaided owns his store, or just has a franchise in a larger chain?
  21. Story Wednesday Nov 16, 2016

It's enough that the tvtropes page has a Dan quote as the prime example of comic time.
  22. NP Wednesday November 16, 2016

It is possible that dispels are also seen as enchantments when being put against a person's resistance and so a person could guard themselves against that just like any other enchantment, but to be able to do that without cancelling their own enchantment by accident might be tricky.
  23. Story Wednesday Nov 16, 2016

http://elgoonishshive.wikia.com/wiki/El_Goonish_Shive_Timeline The comics started January 20 and is currently in January of next year (with big help of half year timeskip). Yeah, it's pretty crazy how so little time has passed in the comic. Dan even made a joke about it during Squirrel Prophet after the tournament ended and Grace commented that it felt like she ate dinner months ago.
  24. Sunday Nov 13 2016 Stacked Rhoda

There's also this guest comic, but I think it is canon that Tedd considered the idea of a cow form for free milk once, not entirely sure though, might have been a non-canon Np though.
  25. Sunday Nov 13 2016 Stacked Rhoda

I think some people wanted the return of the TF milk and cookies for Christmas, but for another couple rather than Ellen and Nanase. Can't really blame them considering we didn't get much in the way of Halloween themed pinup suggestions and Dan had to use his "my choice" ones to cover it. I think a Catalina and Rhoda Milk and Cookies pinup might be a good way to satisfy most of us.
