  1. Miscellaneous Questions

See, I can understand it being used to refer to dual citizenship. but African-Americans didn't just immigrate to America and French-Canadians didn't just move in from France, they've been there for generations.
  2. Miscellaneous Questions

The only instance of -Canadian that I'm aware of is French-Canadian. I am uncertain whether it's supposed to be belittling to Quebec residents though, Quebec's been very insistent on maintaining their cultural identity that it feels like we have to refer to them as French-Canadians.
  3. Miscellaneous Questions

Yeah, "Ronin" actually says "Monkey American", because he's trying to be politically correct after giving Tony heck for being politically incorrect.
  4. Miscellaneous Questions

I would think these forums are proof enough of that.
  5. https://www.patreon.com/posts/dans-choice-we-6483994 It is canon that all three have seen each other naked due to experiments not going as expected. Though I don't see any clothes anywhere. "So will these watches shrink our clothes too? "I'm still having problems with them, they still grow to maximum size" "Alright, guess we don't need clothes for this"

I think Helena and Demetrius were acting at someone's request. I speculated before that maybe Helena and Demetrius were the friends that Edward was talking about 2 years prior to the comic starting. As to how they ended up needing to watch over Elliot and how they ended up going to France is even fuzzier but my guess was that Elliot wasn't the original mission, that Helena and Demetrius discovered something about him during their investigation for Edward but they were forced to reset before they could act. What they discovered about Elliot could have been the last thing they learned before the reset so it could have been the first thing they "recalled" after they came back but the fragmented memories were like "something something Elliot Dunkel something something France, something".
  7. Miscellaneous Questions

I don't think Lucy did, but Rhoda must have early on but was afraid to act on it, then she met Catalina so... I'm actually curious as to how Diane, Lucy and Rhoda met and formed their trio.
  8. Story: Friday, Aug 12, 2016

Yeah, I'm thinking their reset has more to do with what ever mission that were on pertaining to Elliot. Although, maybe they were lured to France, they said they were following someone but they couldn't be sure if it was Nanase or Susan and it didn't make sense why they would have done so if they were suppose to be watching Elliot. I'm wondering if they were faced with a choice of staying with Elliot or go to France and the act of going to France broke the rules or something.

I dunno, Pandora could justify it as "he never cast the spell so was he really empowered?", As Pandora basically says in the story comic "It's not breaking the laws if I don't believe it's breaking the laws." She did say that boosting his power of deduction would be useful, being able to deduce things accurately could be enough to say you can predict the future. Like if you see a person walk into a crowded room, and make their way towards the other side, you can then look at the movements of the other people and say there's a chance that the person will bump into a specific person in the crowd before they reach their destination.
  10. NP Friday August 12, 2016

Sooo, here's something. Based on both Pandora's thoughts in the third panel and Dan's commentary, I'm guessing Rich and Larry will say something that makes Pandora reconsider giving them marks. But, I think the mark that Larry might have ended up with, eventually was given to Tedd. Or maybe Pandora did give Larry the mark and for some reason never got a chance to use it before the card tournament, Pandora saw how Larry acted towards Tedd and was offended so yanked the mark and gave it to Tedd who unexpected used it moments later.
  11. Story: Friday, Aug 12, 2016

I think the clog technically de-powered the area on the other side, given that Voltaire is aware of the other half of the world, I would assume that it's common knowledge for immortals.
  12. Story: Friday, Aug 12, 2016

I see what Voltaire did with Tara as being worse that what Helena and Demetrius did to Nanase and Susan. Sure Helena and Demetrius should have gone to the whoever would be with France's version of DGB, but the vampire did attack Susan first so they could easily feel that giving Susan and Nanase the ability to defend themselves and kill the vampire was justified. Voltaire on the other hand, misguided Tara into believing Elliot did something to Andrea with the hopes that Tara would kill Elliot. He was also called out on lying, yet he apparently insists that his reasons are justified. So I think there has to be more to the reasons for Helena's and Demetrius' reset. Also I would think that based on what Pandora said, Jerry should have known about what Helena and Demetrius did cus he would have taken part in forcing their reset, the way he mentioned them lying to Susan still feels a lot like an assumption based on only hearing half of the story, but then again, we've only heard half of that story, and the parts that Helena and Demetrius have mentioned are from fragments of memories that just happen to correspond with what Susan's said plus tiny hints that there's a bigger picture involved.

Hmmmm......it's looking more like Catalina's gonna show up shortly.
  15. Story: Wed, Aug 10, 2016

The Copy Spell instance is tricky, either the spell was working as intending and Ellen's asking for permission was unnecessary, or it was the will of magic that took notice of what Ellen was trying to do and figured it was a proper dramatic moment. I guess "flair for the dramatic" could just as easily apply to the extra amped beam that hit Vlad too though. ::shrugs::
  16. Story: Wed, Aug 10, 2016

Ahh, I forgot about that. Yeah, I'm not entirely sure Magus had anything to do the Ellen's beam when she zapped Vlad, It's canon that she can amp up the beam herself, but as for the beam that hit Vlad, I'm more inclined to believe that she cares enough for Nanase that her emotions were naturally supercharging the beam. It was a clutch moment.
  17. Story: Wed, Aug 10, 2016

As far as we've seen, Magus has only amplified emotions and getting them to act on something they normally wouldn't. Like Tedd zapped Elliot originally because Magus amplified Tedd's annoyance that Elliot couldn't tell if he was a guy again, Tedd was probably thinking "I oughta zap you". Ellen was annoyed by the "dream" she had about sleeping with Archie and didn't like the idea of Nanase being a guy and just wanted to have a V5 party where she zapped everyone, so Magus amplified that to try to get her to zap Elliot. Abraham was feeling guilty about having to kill Ellen, Magus tried to amplify that to stop him but I dunno if Abraham was resisting really well or if it was something else. Edward was mad that his niece was hurt and nearly killed Abraham for it, Pandora wanted Magus to amplify that even more so that Edward finished the job, but thankfully Magus refused. I'm pretty sure those were the only cases so far of Magus' amplifying.
  18. Story Friday August 5, 2016

Sirleck's never seen until the first T-Minus chapter which shows the moment he takes possession of the old guy who was basically in the process of dying until Sirleck stopped it. This happens March 20th, nearly 2 months after Ellen's creation. The second T-Minus has Sirleck revealing that he bribed the guard, stating his part of Magus' plan worked despite the plan overall not going as intended. This conversation happens March 21st. Dan said in the commentary for Sirleck's first appearance that the old man wasn't important, so we'll likely never know who he was. The previous host we didn't see probably because Dan wasn't able to work them into the story at the time.
  19. Story: Wed, Aug 10, 2016

I suspect as much. In fact, I think that she created it the very moment she appeared on public TV. It would be a double whammy -- revealing the existence of magic on TV and setting up what she probably intended to be a snowballing effect of stronger and stronger magic. The whales told Tedd that Magic had been unusually high for much of his life, and even Andrea stated that for a long time, the flow of magic was slower, which would mean that something slowed the flow of magic. I still think Pandora did something years ago that affected the flow and then just after her meeting with Adrian and declaring the "destruction" of the world, she completely blocked off the flow. I'm wondering why she needs someone else to help unclog it though, and this whole "de-powering Moperville"...does she mean removing all the marks she's given, or removing everyone's ability to use magic altogether? Ellen was created by magic, what would happen to her? I think she was using "empowered" in large scale terms, like city wide empowerment.
  20. Story Friday August 5, 2016

Thing is though, Sirleck changed hosts after the bribe occurred, and the guard wouldn't know he was bribed by an aberration, heck the guard likely never saw the guy the bribed him. There's also the fact that if the guard that let Tedd and Elliot into the facility mysteriously died shortly after, Edward would become suspicious. As it stands even if the guard comes out and says he was bribed to let them in, the money likely wouldn't be traceable because Sirleck has beem embezzling money for a while through many hosts and probably has run it through a labyrinth of banks and offshore accounts and stuff.
  21. Story Friday August 5, 2016

Probably, Sirleck complained about how much it cost to bribe the guard. I doubt he would have done so if he had killed the guard rather than pay him.
  22. Story Friday August 5, 2016

I also think it was set up for Tedd and Elliot to easily find. That guard was bribed to let them in, the bribe could have also included putting the diamond on display too. Once Elliot touched the diamond, the guard was no long obligated to sit back and watch. Of course the building itself was minimal security and apparently not up to code as it didn't have actual windows on the second floor.

With Canadians, it's maple syrup and poutine. That should get them to leave hockey and Tim Hortons alone...I mean, what?
  24. Story: Monday, August 8, 2016

PLOT TWIST! For Disco Wizard that is....Not us, we already knew all this. Would be interesting to see how DW handles it though. Pandora already said she'll fix the things she's done, but will DW still fly off the handle about the fact that she caused it in the first place?
  25. http://www.egscomics.com/egsnp.php?id=495 Well dang, with that kind of questioning, if she did happen to catch Catalina, that could still mean Catalina's got the paw mark....
