  1. Story Wednesday January 31, 2018

True teleportation (unlike Star Trek transporters) uses space-folding and is literally impossible to be slow as the distance you travel is shortened to zero from your point of view. However, it is possible the waiting for the space-folding will take longer during rush hour due to interference.

    Ah, stack.
  3. Story, Friday February 9, 2018

Because it wouldn't happen on a Sunday. It'll be just another manic Monday. It can happen on some Friday, though.
  4. NP, Friday February 9, 2018

Not sure if it's what you refer to, but "Ditzy is faulting" meant it's affecting all players just like the Busty and Hippy.
  5. Story, Friday February 9, 2018

Actually, the question is if he realizes Pandora Chaos Raven is the girl from news. The fact Pandora is Adrian's mother seems pretty obvious with their names, but he might not hear her name before.
  6. Story, Friday February 9, 2018

Also, how long before the magic uses VAN full name and does Tedd remember his mother maiden name? ... assuming she doesn't make up a new one.
  7. Story, Friday February 9, 2018

Despite not understanding the corporeal experience, it did seen to know enough about anger to know how Tedd was feeling and was able to quell that anger on a more personal level, maybe if was just going off of Pandora's intentions, but still to know that was something that Tedd would need to hear at that point, it feels like there's some level of sympathy to it. It's true that the last bit - "you will still be family" - sounds like it realized WHY it's important to Tedd. IMHO it's aware of what Voltaire is doing but is not able to understand the reason. "Testing Tedd if those manupulations worked" sounds like 1) requiring more understanding of humans 2) kind of too close to self-fulfilling test. Hmmmm ... true, might be another thing which immortals knew but then forgot because their previous incarnations hidden the information from them deliberately, just like the information that elves can have kids. I think she sort of cheated. That the reset SHOULD be improper, but she used her power to "fix" it ... either that, or Jerry was overly careful with his reset. Well yeah, I'm talking about what Voltaire hoped Tedd would do. Then again it's probably still too early to tell, Monday can't get here fast enough. LOL And Monday will help you how? ... could easily be weeks before we get Voltaire's reaction. Only if it paid attention to that conversation. ... although, going by how much it seems to know, I would say it DOES know, but maybe don't understand ... I would put it even differently: it cares about Tedd having the information relevant to the decision. It's ok if Tedd gets angry for valid reason, but it's not ok if she gets angry based on incorrect or incomplete information. ... that actually reminds me some internet discussions ...
  8. Story Wednesday January 31, 2018

I was under the impression that Copenhagen was basically a bicycle-and-tram city. But I've never gotten much north of Madrid. And now you know why. (Wasn't that far north either, although I got much closer.)
  9. NP, Friday February 9, 2018

It would match the expression more. I mean, at least Susan would DEFINITELY not smile in such case, even if Ditzy. MAYBE if Ditzy AND Pony. I know exactly what you mean. I would be afraid of hammers if I put my finger on it as well. Well in many cases it would be confusing. Even here, "she" MIGHT refer to Ashley ...
  10. Story, Friday February 9, 2018

I'm not surprised WoM knows exactly what Pandora did. Question was if it was able to understand her motivation, and seems it did. And it may still be cold to the situation, but seem to realize what information would Tedd need ... ... also, seems that it has VERY detailed knowledge of situation. And may have problem realizing most others don't. Might be reason why it's so chatty - tries to compensate. Probably because Voltaire had no idea refresh is possible ... especially in forced reset situation. The will of magic said that immortals can do it but most never consider trying. Well, the fact they had no idea it may work would be good reason why. Well she was very angry. Seems less angry now. IMHO it is alien to it, but during all those centuries, it did got SOME understanding. Why? Heka seemed to have VERY good understanding of humans.
  11. Story, Monday February 5, 2018

I would argue that the Will of Magic should be able to realize the futility even without seers to consult, but on the other hand ... it's inability to understand humans MAY go this far. Also, in age of internet, no problem. Every saturday morning, after reset, seers publish new rules and during the weekend, magic users will look them up.
  12. Story Wednesday January 31, 2018

    1) In factory, everyone must be starting at same time. Not sure why should the same be true in office. Or in agriculture. 2) It is not good idea to build housing near factory's chimneys. Not sure why should the same be true for office. In agriculture, it doesn't make sense at all. 3) Why the factory is not taking responsibility of bringing all employers in at the same time by ensuring the mass transit is adequate, even if it would need to finance it?

  14. NP, Wednesday February 7, 2018

You posted that? This is clearly the better video: Your knowledge of song lyrics is clearly better. Yes, it seems this is the song Rhoda referenced. Susan seems to be further away from victory, but she's actually playing to win. Note, however, that Catalina will also influence the board ...
  15. Story, Wednesday February 7, 2018

There is totally possible Voltaire didn't expected this ... nevertheless, I agree that it put Tedd exactly where he wanted her. In best case, Tedd is out and it's on Arthur and Van to convince magic. In not-best case, Tedd will get another idea what to say. What part of "totally doesn't understand humans" you didn't get? I think that Pandora was just describing power every seer has ... It's like what it wants is validation on what it wants to do anyway, or at least, that's how I'm interpreting things so far. Not really. But the change is default and to NOT do the change requires lot of convincing. But his fear is not deciding factor as he fears the magic will go public in BOTH cases. ... is probably as logical as Susan's long hair.
  16. NP Monday Feb 5 2018

Dan explicitly confirmed that Ashley was NOT deliberately throwing the game. But it's true that ditzy or not, her objective was always having fun, not win. Maybe without ditzy, she WOULD be able to deliberately throwing the game And in most cases (of course, not in Paranoia or World of Darkness as The Old Hack described), EVERYONE is winner in Table top RPG. Just like in most movies, where you know in advance the hero will win, but you are watching to see how. (Well ... partial winner. You win the campaign, the game continues.) Blame yourself. Math is predictable. If you found math is against you too late, it's your fault to not compute it earlier.
  17. Story Wednesday January 31, 2018

I'm leaning towards failing to take the next step, even recruiting Grace for this would seem like the wrong way about it. Wouldn't be optimal but I wouldn't call it wrong either. Grace MIGHT be able to say it in way Edward can't. "Describe universe. Give three examples."
  18. Story Wednesday January 31, 2018

And that might be what Edward's worried about, he might not know exactly why Tedd does it, but if he feels that even Tedd doesn't know why Tedd does it, that could be concerning. Except he failed to make the next step of trying to actually help him find the reason. Unless it was him who pushed Grace in direction of right web pages ... Maybe he's convinced Grace wouldn't mind, or that Tedd won't be forcing Grace if she would mind ... ?
  19. NP: Friday January 26, 2018

You don't need Zoetrope or Kinetoscope to present media created for them. Both can be emulated on computer. It's rarely done, because those media created for Zoetrope were not that good and their only value was in showing capabilities of that technology, but it IS possible and in this sense the technology wasn't lost. This reminds me the joke of mathematicians only requiring paper, pencils and eraser, while philosophers are even cheaper, only requiring the paper and pencils. Tabletop roleplaying doesn't require paper, pencils and dice, but it may help if the abilities of the storyteller are suboptimal.
  20. Story Wednesday January 31, 2018

That was strictly Ellen that saw Tedd as a bomb that shouldn't be kicked. Edward was worried that Tedd would withdraw himself again should he find out the circumstanced of Edward and Noriko's divorce. Of course Tedd has a pretty good idea why they divorced now, not a complete picture, but believing it was because of him giving the wand a false negative might have been the worst case scenario. The metaphor was Ellen's, but she was just describing what Edward said. Not sure where it was related to Damien, but remember when Edward explicitly warned Tedd against having sex with Grace in her human form? It MIGHT've been just his talent for exposition activating by mistake ... but maybe he was actually TRYING to make Tedd have sex with half-human Grace because he considered it better alternative that what he assumed Tedd is doing with herself. Yes, perplexed might be the right word ... "He's got girlfriend and he's seeing Sarah regularly and they are often naked in basement and he still transforms to girl? Why?" Who know's how long it would have been if Grace wasn't there to assist. Unhealthily long, I would say.
  21. NP: Friday January 26, 2018

While true, I would prefer if people stops reading and get their information from movies taking lot of liberties with source material AND explore the stars, than being limited to read about stars because they lose the technology to show the movies.
  22. Patreon Feb 4 2018: Beach Trip

I know. But did you know that I didn't know if you knew? I wasn't sure about it but it sounded likely, therefore I was confirming that I know exactly to make sure you know that I knew. Of course, I didn't knew that you don't know if I knew when I was writing the original post. (This is harder that it looks.)
  23. Story Wednesday January 31, 2018

Does this include him allowing Tedd to play with alien technology with great potential of endangering national security? I would say Tedd's childhood wasn't exactly normal. Hm. I can see what you mean, but Tedd has gone way past these traits by now. He has had a girlfriend for quite a while now. He is more and more open to the world even when you take his occasional obsessions into science (or SCIENCE!) into account. This may be the explanation but if it is I hope Mr. Verres begins to show signs of noticing before long. His girlfriend is shapeshifting part-alien with very abnormal childhood. Edward might have concerns that Tedd will not be able to get "normal" girlfriend in case it wouldn't work with Grace for some reason. Remember that Edward sees his son as bomb. He wants to do what is best for him, but probably isn't exactly sure of what that would be, given his experience is mostly in "abnormal" areas. He may be attempting to make Tedd "normal" based on assumption that if it works for majority of people, it should work for Tedd. That assumption is invalid, of course, as Tedd is gender-fluid, which definitely isn't major ... not speaking about him being seer. Also, he is basing his idea on what is normal on unreliable sources. Note that Tedd WAS using explanations like "it's like a vacation" before, as he didn't understood it himself. And probably WAS doing this "other exploration". And I would say that staying in that state WOULD be cause of concern, although in little different way than Edward assumes: just like Nanase insisting she's straight and just need to find the correct guy, if Tedd would insist he's cis and just finds sexy being woman, it would mean they are avoiding truth and lying to themselves. On the other hand, what is the "correct" speed for self-discovery? After looking at female butt for hours, it doesn't seem like that hard idea ...
  24. Story, Monday February 5, 2018

And won't that be fun. For values of fun that include "make both DBG and Tedd go nuts". It will be probably values of fun that include lot of death. But preventing individual deaths is not objective of magic.
  25. Story Monday January 29, 2018

Doesn't change the fact there is no reassuring seers can give to magic. They know less that it does. Depending on who created it, that may not be expected to be necessary. Which would be mistake, of course. Note that making magic public by itself is really inevitable and therefore not mistake. Some specific rules could be mistake, yes.
