  1. STORY: Friday March 18, 2016

Probably other dice/coins. Likely not only one. Andrea said "one of the spots" and it will likely be valid for both "directions". It's likely not world-wide catastrophe, but there will be local problem - possible area where it's harder for mages to replenish their magic reserves. ... aaand, possibly it's harder for people to awaken in that area. Another idea: what if Lord Tedd and Magus are from different halves of the same universe? Of course, that would invalidate pet theory of some people here that Magus is Elliot alternate and Terra Tedd's alternate. I agree. Remember, magic has a mind of its own (probably). I'm sure it would figure out how to restore the balance sooner or later. Sort of mind. Yes, definitely. It's not like clog in Moperville can affect whole universe including the Uryuom planet. Maybe it's already happening. Remember that even after "fixing" the balance between universes the local anomaly of Moperville may remain. Or yes: magic having flair for dramatic will prefer solution which would be flashy and sudden instead of smooth and hard to notice, but the buildup needs to have some size before flashy solution can happen. ... and the system change may or may not be related. I see two separate issues here: the inbalance of magic, magic clog and buildup AND the end of masquerade, more magic users and currently unknown parts of Pandora's plan and system change. Pandora is using the magic buildup to power the end of masquerade, maybe even caused it, but it's just tool for her, the goal is end of masquerade. And magic may respond independently to the clog itself and to the general danger of Pandora's plan.
  2. Story Wednesday March 16, 2016

Certainly. But it's possible that the "first half" will hold just like the "New World" did hold. (Although ... technically, Humans are from Africa and "New World" was really colonized later, after Europe and Asia, most likely over Bering Strait.) DBG decided to keep the existence of magic itself secret - and failed. But they may still manage to limit knowledge of how to use magic. ... and the (Pandora) Chaos (Raven) that ensues ... What do you think "proper regulation" would be? The buildup of energy in Moperville is likely something impossible to regulate without full open war. It's important "natural" resource and everyone would like to control or at least use it - but the area is too small to keep the high number of aberrations and mages secret. I don't think whatever magic have instead of mind would be this sophisticated. Also, what balance? Balance is between multiple forces, what forces would that be? Aberrations and mages? Both will take advantage of the ambient magic. The balance which IS endangered could be between the "halves" of the universe or between Moperville and rest of world, but THAT balance have nothing to do with magic going mainstream.
  3. Story Wednesday March 16, 2016

Actually, the disco wizard said Magic has no desire to go mainstream and make itself available to everyone. The idea is that magic is using the secrecy to limit number of magic users, and if the secrecy would stop working, it would reset and choose different option how to limit access. It's possible that it already happened in the "first half". Or, maybe the magic is actually shared and the difference is that EXISTENCE of magic is public knowledge in "first half" - but how easy it is to get magic is still secret.

... are you referring to the "it was a dream" bit? If Dan would like, he could've done timeskip to when they already have it programmed and continue showing the forms, yes. Or, we can accept that such continuation will came later, just like we accepted that we didn't get answer to Susan's new spell yet. There may still be something important in the last page. Just like in case of the dolls or the battle ...

Yeah, that would be another explanation. Even if he wouldn't approve Tedd's relationship with Grace, or at least tolerate it because it obviously have positive effect on Tedd, he could still be afraid of what could Tedd do if he would tried to stop that relationship. Remember that the main reason Tedd didn't weaponized TF gun is that he has no reason to. Also, even at the point of resolving Damien issue the rest of main eight had considerable strength. Now, I'm not saying they would be able to defeat DGB (yet), but they could cause considerable damage before being catch and imprisoned - and Edward wouldn't like either.
  6. Story Wednesday March 16, 2016

Don't worry, the forum is still in development, so anything you like can still disappear and new bugs can surface - I mean, the bugs may be fixed and the layout may be even more improved.
  7. Story Wednesday March 16, 2016

That wasn't "4th wall breaking mode". That was "in construction mode". It was before the 4th wall was put in place.
  8. Story Wednesday March 16, 2016

Had before, yes. Deliberately trolling, not so sure. Amanda is generally not completely canon. All Q&A have the same "non-canon story with canon explanations" status. It's only when they bring someone else, like Adrian Raven, that the non-canonicality became important.
  9. Story Wednesday March 16, 2016

Who "he"? Tara is "she". That interruption didn't took more that few minutes. Doesn't need to be "at this moment".
  10. NP, Wednesday March 16, 2016

Also, no Edward. Did he actually came and just wasn't shown? Did Ellen only THOUGH he's coming? Did she made it up just to get Grace dress? I'm pretty sure it's just a metaphor and Sarah is breaking the fourth wall a little. Or possibly losing the game. I almost agreed with you on the time table, but then I remembered that Christmas was the time when Sarah and Elliot were breaking up. IMO I don't think Sarah would bee keen to work on an MV5 while she was having relationship issues. I though they break shortly before Christmas, but it was actually on 27th December ... I would still consider more likely they learned true meaning of Christmas after Christmas than that Sarah was doing this while preparing to break up with Elliot. Not speaking about the "like a sister" thing.

It's also possible that as a megalomaniac, he expected Grace would LIKE to have sex with him. Later, he realized that wouldn't be the case or got more desperate. Actually, his only hint for the rescue was "the nest". Without Grace, they wouldn't be able to decipher it. I think he suspected they know Grace from the first contact, but wasn't sure about it. Remember, it was ELLIOT who tried to lie there ... Non-human female, presumably. If Damien would want human female, he would have lot of options. Of course, if some female would directly came to the nest and would therefore need to be taken care of anyway ...
  12. STORY: Monday March 14, 2016

Quite likely. It would explain his 'to **** with keeping a low profile' comment just before he pulled out the bombs. Of course, afterwards Dame Tara set him up the bomb. Hmmmm ... note that this would work even without Andrea knowing about him. Maybe he was aware of her and kept lower profile because of her, but for some reason didn't leave. Wait: If he only kept low profile because of Andrea, then he wouldn't have any reason to NOT using the bombs. The 'to **** with keeping a low profile' comment actually suggest there is some other reason to keep low profile besides catching Andrea's attention.
  13. Story Wednesday March 16, 2016

So Andrea is SCIENTIST. Not mage or wizard - I mean, she obviously is magic user, she may even be wizard, but her main qualification is being scientist. Also, nice not-explanation of the "same world" thing And, I would say that the probability of Andrea staying here because of vampire went even lower. She would likely mention it.
  14. We Begin Anew!

Another bugreport: Something broke fonts on site. Seems it's called ACME.
  15. NP Monday, March 14, 2016

Not all of them. We know there were at least two people who were nice to Grace before Damien came - Dr. Sciuridae and Mr. Guyur. We know that Sciuridae treated Grace well, but it was precisely because of that that the other scientists figured out that he had replaced the original human donor's blood with his daughter's blood and had him transferred. Grace also described Mr. Guyur "nice, in his own way" and we all know what happened to him. I think that the other scientist didn't exactly ended better than Mr. Guyur. Dr. Sciuridae might've been only scientist who wasn't on site when Damien attacked. Yes, that's what I was speaking about. Damien might've attacked before she reached puberty.
  16. STORY: Monday March 14, 2016

Hmm, yes, that is a good point. Maybe vampires can only sense hunters and not other threats? Tara said that Andrea is not a fighter, after all. It's possible his "detection web" didn't helped him when he was away from the "control location". He might've been aware Andrea is in general location, but though she's not THAT near. Would be funny if she would try to say that and did it as unconvincingly as Elliot. I think it IS her poor sense of direction. Or, you know ... her poor sense of direction combined with the totally lying Immortal somehow confusing her. Fae traditionally use spells which makes navigation harder.
  17. NP Monday, March 14, 2016

Interesting. In the first case, Edward likely talked to her exactly as the scientists. But there could still be multiple reasons ; the second example is clearer, although it's still question what exactly Edward said. (We DO know that he didn't explained it properly, but did he at least tried?) Her family might be freeloading as well, only from government money But yes: Edward is not likely to throw her out because no matter what would the effect on Grace be, it would certainly be worse on Tedd. Question is if Grace realizes it, and if she does if that makes her feeling more or less guilty about the freeloading.
  18. NP Monday, March 14, 2016

Speaking about young girl ... how old was Grace when Damien attacked?
  19. Story: Friday March 11 2016

I brought up summoning because we have most informations about it. And note that the term for elite soldier and/or bodyguard IS knight - and knights were nobility, although not royalty. Her entire family had been mages for generations - but she didn't mentioned it was because they always married other mages AND she didn't mentioned Edward at all, which suggests that it was NOT always the case and that it doesn't matter that Edward is also mage. Generally, people who chose honor before live tend to be, well, dead ... while the ones who chose live survived, had offspring and lot of opportunities to explain to historians how it really happened.
  20. NP Monday, March 14, 2016

Grace running out and back. Ellen is not that fast. As opposed to her Shade Tail form, which qualifies her as top superhero. I think when she went human she wore clothes simply because they told her to. "Put this on and transform to human." They likely didn't bother explaining why or giving her any choice in anything in general. We know Edward wasn't making her get a job. It was Grace's idea. I'm not sure he said anything about her being naked - maybe just some hrmph or sigh ... but Grace does know that he doesn't like it and isn't the type to force the issue.
  21. STORY: Monday March 14, 2016

I think Diane's questions would be something like: 1) This is the vampire you meant when you talked about me being vampire slayer? 2) Are you sure I will be able to fight them? 3) Seriously? We know what THAT means. It's related to Diane being vampire hunter just like Susan. I still think the vampire spider guy was tailor himself. It's not about "sooner". It's about how many questions we will get answered on next page. Like, even without skipping that we will get at least one, right?
  22. Story: Friday March 11 2016

If magic users are fairly common among humans in the griffins half of the world, maybe, though I could see it being a case of one family asserting dominance through challenging another family to a magic duel or something. It'd be one thing to have a rank 9 family defeat a rank 8 family in a duel, and another to have a rank 9 family get beaten by a rank 5 family fielding 100 rank 2 mages. Though maybe something like that did happen until someone came up with the dueling idea. In Drowtales the idea behind duels was exactly this. Guess what happened when the side with numeric advantage decided to NOT duel ... Susan is likely relatively high level magic user. Not like Nanase, but higher than say Elliot. And Tara being knight doesn't mean she is NOT wizard - although I suppose she isn't (but maybe Andrea is). She is certainly high level magic user. The energy of Little Boy was 15 kiloton of TNT, which is about 700 milligrams of matter. The fairy is likely less than thousand times heavier, and therefore easily below the maximal yield of hydrogen bombs. Of course, still impressive, but not completely outside human experience.
  23. Story: Friday March 11 2016

In our world, certainly. As well as people claiming to be chosen by a divine power. In the EGS universe, someone having a considerable magic ability would be able to back up the claim of being chosen by a divine power. After a while you'll eventually have families rise up that are distinctly more powerful than anyone else and so the notion of someone with a very strong aura being of a royal bloodline would take hold. In Tara and Andrea's half of the world this notion is still pretty strong and the human royal families would be revered by many as leaders, whereas in the main 8's half, magic had fallen into secrecy for many generations. You underestimate usefulness of magic in military actions. Good point. I wonder, does hereditary magic really make a mage more powerful, or are Muggle-borns capable of everything the pure-bloods are in EGS? I certainly hope so, and I certainly hope that the griffins haven't been taught to believe in pure-blood supremacy! I was going for "non-hereditary magic users don't count as their number can change very quickly", but I would say "yes". The abominations definitely consider mages with summoning affinity more dangerous than mages who would just yearning for summoning spells ... Why do you think griffins need to be taught that? Death Eaters bases their belief of pure-blood supremacy on the idea that marrying muggle will lower magic abilities of child. Based on what Noriko said, this doesn't seem to be the case in EGS universe ... of course, we will see more when it will be confirmed that Mr. Kitsune is muggle and Akiko has magic talent. Or maybe not. In caste system, changing caste is extremely difficult. In system based on magic, commoners who somehow have strong magic will automatically be lifted to higher caste even if someone would need to marry them. It reminds me Riftwar saga. Tsurani have strong caste system - with one exception: mages are outside it. If anyone, even slave, displays a magic talent, he is made mage.

Right. But he didn't used it in battle, so this actually SUPPORTS the idea that Elliot might find it later. Nonphysical, as opposed to World Wide Web? (Although ... yes, if his web was nonphysical, it might cease to exists when he died.)
  25. Story: Friday March 11 2016

Most royal families rose to power through military action. The difference is that it happened several generations ago. I'm sure griffins will be able to recognize elf. And we don't know if Cranium is powerful. Wolf and Edward, maybe. Her half may have same number of human magic users as our world (or at least same number of magic user FAMILIES, that is, people with hereditary magical affinity), the difference being they are more public. With current lack of information, I would consider it most likely. The thing about wizards is that they can learn other people's spells. We don't know if this is limitless or if there are limits. Ability to learn other people's spell is definitely useful, but not "far superior". Even after learning the spell they may not have enough power to cast it - just as Sarah wouldn't have power to cast her spell outside Moperville. Also, it's ability which will not really help unless they know some other magic user with useful spells ... Time to nominate a judge. I nominate Albert Einstein. Stephen Hawking. I think Einstein would be problematic for such courtroom due to being dead. Unless the courtroom IS in afterlife ... wait, that would be even more hypocritical.
