That kid? A peasant? Are you JOKING? If he was from around half a millennium ago or more, he came from a wealthy family. He had a BELT. He had a tunic AND a kaftan. And that stuff all looked brand new, not second hand. Anyway, if I were Pandora and wanted a good laugh, I'd pick a self-important rich kid and not a hapless peasant boy. Who would almost certainly be barefoot anyway.

Political Discussion Thread (READ FIRST POST)
The Old Hack replied to The Old Hack's topic in Off Topic Discussion
Making references to it should preferably be done in a non-hurtful manner. Discussing the actual referendum itself should be done solely in the political thread. As always, remember the discussion rules. -
There! See, JML? You need to have a word with your dishwasher!

True enough. Even so, a healthy awareness of the fact that one does not know all there is to know and a willingness to learn make for a good protection against the latter. So far you seem to be doing fine.

Ahhh. This strip reminds me of the fall of the Broman Empire. Bliss, bliss.

Bah. Whoopi Goldberg is great. You are just sore at her because she reminds you of Hachepsut.

*suspiciously* It doesn't summon elder gods on the side, does it?

Changing Medications (Level of Trust Required)
The Old Hack replied to ProfessorTomoe's topic in Off Topic Discussion
Oh Lord. Prof, I've already said this, but once again, do take care of yourself. I am serious -- go easy on yourself and try to take timeouts for something soothing when you can. We would all much rather see you get better soon, so be careful not to let irritation and frustration goad you into pushing yourself. -
Don't worry too much about it. Youth is an issue that ends given time. If it is worth doing, it is worth taking the time to do it right. And an advantage of youth is that you have time.

Or the wands are power sources so the wizard can go on for longer without being depleted of magic energy, or they are focuses to allow easier/faster/longer ranged casting, or they just look cool. Harry Dresden can do lots of magic without his tools and implements, but they make his work easier and add oomph to the effects.

Good to hear. Feel better soon, Prof, and take good care of yourself. -

Easily. He is the one person no-one suspects of anything at all. He is barely seen yet constantly felt. His is the invisible hand that moves everything in the Gooniverse. HE IS MAGIC.

God. The word is out that medical science is making great strides against cancer these days. The results can't possibly arrive soon enough.

I just got the news. He passed away late last night. At least it is over now for him.

Here. Have one.

Alternately, more prosaically, Grace of Borg says she did ask for the augmentation simply because she decided to play the game. In a way, that is asking for it.

Maybe you are, but I am looking for a cannon cannon. A cannon that fires other cannon would be totally awesome.

Of course Detective Block is canon. How could such a masterpiece not be canon?
-
It might. But it would take a lot, still. You probably have a point. Grace is the key in this -- she loves Tedd and wouldn't see him hurt for any reason at all, and a split between Tedd and Mr. Verres would hurt Tedd. Then, of course, there is the fact that she likes and respects Mr. Verres, too...

Hoo boy. I think it will take a LOT of desperation before Mr. Verres will look up Mr. Raven and ask him for help with his son.

I am afraid that this is a case where the motivations behind the actions matter far less than the results. Tedd experiences hostility and transphobia from an otherwise trusted parent -- and on top of that, experiences this sense of betrayal in connection with the TFG gun, which was the catalyst for the beginning of a long journey towards self-confidence and away from introversion. In other words, Tedd can no longer feel safe around Edward. This will have long term effects on their relationship and they will not be good.
