Last year, my dad got my mom mom a cat for Christmas, a cute little calico that Mom named Nutmeg - we basically call her Meggie (or sweetie, darling, or occasionally "you little shit!"). 

In the first couple months, I liked to kiss her on the nose, but she wasn't too fond of it. Eventually, I mostly settled on booping her instead - a light tap or poke on the nose.

Last night, I had my hand on the corner of the foot of mom's bed. Meggie put a forepaw on the corner of the mattress, pulled herself up, and bumped her nose on my finger.
 

Is not the house itself simply a very large box in which a cat might sits?

Yes, in theory you are supposed to not obey a direct order, but in practice you may be in a battlefield situation where your commander orders you to kill some innocents and will not hesitate to have YOU shot if you refuse. In situations where you have no communication with the higher-ups, a corrupt Captain can have you forcibly silenced.

There’s also the question of whether the person telling you that it is “for the Greater Good” is being hypocritical. If they are (i.e. “the greater good” is actually the good of themselves and/or their chosen few), then it definitely falls on the evil side, and the person who follows them is a tool if they themselves are not among that chosen few.

If they had been International Consumer Business Machines, they would have crossed continents at rocket speed.
Of course, my old friend Flemming insisted the IBM stood for Incomprehensible Business Methods.

It’s perfectly sensible that Susan would want to keep everyone besides her family and close friends on the “no hugs” list. Susan is not comfortable being casual with that sort of touching.

Explorer the Cat stays in the comfy chair in the living room, or on the computer desk until I go an lay down, either for a nap or for the night.  Then, with in minutes she wakes up and joins me in bed

For a variety of reason, mainly due to my last place of work's miss use of E-bay, I hate dealing with them.  If you want something and it has a "buy it now" price that you can live with, just buy it.

Nah, what’s maddening is that the kids can’t separate informal writing, such as their texting, from formal writing, such as their school assignments. They use the same register for everything, which is equivalent to addressing royalty the way that you talk to your drinking buddies.

She has been known to sleep on the phone when I put it some place other than where it belongs.

It's kind of like a huge can of Tuna that's carried on the backs of a bunch of caterpillars and is always fighting with other cans of Tuna
