After I filled her food dish, Explorer ate about 3 bites then jumped up on the bookcase to get pets as I walked into the kitchen to make tea.

She does seem to like hanging out on them and checking out the books on the bottom shelf of the tall bookcase.

I have like a dozen Jane's of one sort or another.  None of them current, given the cost of a current book, but not completely out of date,.

It's a publisher that specialises in military and security related info books.  Jane's All the World's Fighting Ships is the oldest, but they cover every thing from infantry weapons to aircraft carriers.  The put out an yearly books, and they are rather expensive if you get close to the current year.  The main ones I have are "Armour and Artillery" and "Infantry weapons".  They also put out smaller one off books on the same subjects that don't go into the same level of details as the big books do.

The Physician's Desk Reference for Military Vehicles

My father is an M.D. I would totally buy that book for him just to see his reaction.

If such a thing was for real, I suspect I would get a copy for wargame design reasons.  What would it cover I wonder?  The number of back injuries per 100 KM traveled?  The quality of the air filters for chemical warfare?  If there is a medical version of the vehicle?

"This tank is mad sick, bro."
Hm. Maybe not.

"If engine temperature gets too hot, try these anti-fever medications in the following amounts..."
Maybe not that either.

"The carburator: the kidneys of the engine."
...possibly not that, for that matter.

I still want to see it.

Explorer the cat is doing long house runs with jumps, vs just running around the living room, which is what she had been doing for the last couple of weeks.  Like a herd of thundering elephants.

She is clearly suspicious of these strangers that are trying to scam her Daddy. Good kitty.

She just recently started to get on that table, so she has just found out about this threat.

We have a guest for the next ten days.

A feral cat, cared for by someone in Garland, developed an abscess on its face. The caregiver contacted another cat rescue organization not affiliated with Mrs. Prof about getting him to the vet. When the vet tech came out and got the cat, the caregiver neglected to say the cat was feral. So, when the vet tech opened the carrier in the exam room and reached in to get the cat, the cat bit him.

We are now quarantining the cat due to Animal Control laws in the State of Texas - the first time this has been done in Garland for a feral cat. Normally, they would be put down. And before anyone asks, no, he has not been neutered and has not been vaccinated for rabies. We're taking care of the cat for the next ten days, at which point he'll hopefully be sterilized, vaccinated, and returned to his home after a bit of care to his abscess.

Baker *knows* that there is another cat in the house. He's patrolling the door of the spare room where the cat is located like a military policeman guards a high value target. He's going to be a nervous wreck for the next few days. Loudmouth, on the other hand, could give a shiat.

Cat bites are serious.

Extremely, møøse bites notwithstanding.  The vet tech got bit quite badly, or so I understand.

The head of Animal Control came over to inspect our quarantine setup. He approved it, no problems.
