I read that panel "part of one's nature can easily prevent spells fitting of another part if the latter isn't a natural affinity" as saying if Ashley's natural affinity was for transformation spells, it wouldn't matter how good natured she is, Pandora would be able to grant her access to those transformation spells. So I also see that applying to if Ashley had an affinity for non transformation spells, Pandora would be more likely to mark her based on that affinity. Pandora curses name base affinity in the case of Catalina because it prevents Pandora from giving Catalina spells that might be more fitting. If name based affinity can do that, natural born affinities could do that as well. In the case of Sarah, there's probably a loophole that if the affinity isn't detectable, then the next best fit would apply, which would explain why Jerry could have given her a desire based spell and not be blocked by an affinity he can't see.

This is also quite possible, Pandora maybe chaotic and a bit unstable, but she still thinks of the children. For adults it's "They're old enough to know better, if they abuse the gifts I give them then all the more fun for me."

I'm talking in terms of the Kitsune residence, like if Mama Kitsune has any power like her sister and Nanase then she might have some some protective wards around the house, or she asked Edward to set up some of his wards. Beyond that, it's on Nanase to fend for herself if she happens to go out on her own, but then she's pretty much always with Ellen or at Salty Crackers hanging out with Justin. Akiko would certainly have supervision she's 8, though she'll soon be getting to the age where she'll be wanting to go off on her own and there's not much that can be done to stop her.

I doubt Dan's going to have anything that elaborate, now that Nanase knows that Susan isn't adopted, there isn't any worry about breaking her and her mom up, telling her that Diane is a half sister might make Susan reconsider whether she should forgive her had or not, but she probably wouldn't be surprised that her father would have gotten other women pregnant. Hearing that Diane's birth mother gave her up for adoption might actually make Susan feel sorry for Diane, at least in Susan's case she may have gone through a nasty divorce because of her father's cheating, but at least she still had her mom, Diane's mom didn't want to take responsibility. Of course there are any number of scenarios where a mother would put up their child for adoption some of them quite dark (IE rape) but I'm not sure if Dan would go that route so I'm leaning towards the belief that it was consensual for both Diane's mom and Mr Pompoms but she got pregnant and didn't want to keep Diane. Or maybe pass by a large window with each of them on opposite sides, Diane would certainly know that she's looking at Susan, but Susan might believe she's seeing that blonde again.

I too wonder if multiple affinities are possible but in the case of Ashley, she apparently doesn't have any natural affinity, she has a strong interest in transformations that runs into fetish territory which would normally be more than enough for Pandora to mark her with, but Ashley's good nature overrides that instead making it possible to get minor healing magic. If Ashley happened to have been born with an affinity for accelerating the growth of plants, that would take precedence over the other two.

Wild theory here: So, we have Pandora asking Liz about what she'd like to be for a day if she could transform, and determining that there is something she could mark Liz with but doesn't say what. I just noticed this on Dan's Tumblr: The 6th mark in the list, (3rd down on the right) could be smoke.

Considering Nioi used a magic item to create a portal back to her universe, I would imagine that skilled magic users could do so as well. Tara also mentioned there are specific places in Moperville where portals to the other half of the world can be made, but they probably still require a skilled magic user to activate them which Tara and Andrea are. Whether or not people in the prime universe/world are capable is unknown though, there doesn't seem to be any evidence that Edward, Wolf or Cranium are capable, but it could be possible. I did theorize that maybe Nanase's family originated in the other half of the world which would explain how she could be seen as royalty by Tara and Andrea but thats just a theory.

The interesting thing about this though, is earthquakes in California tend to stay isolated to California due to the geology there, whereas quakes that happen in the eastern US can affect larger areas because the rock structure allows vibrations to travel farther. For example, there was a 6.0 quake in California back in 2004 that was mainly felt by Californians, maybe some on the edge of Oregon and Nevada as well. In 2011 though there was a 5.8 quake in Virginia that was felt as far north as Ottawa, Canada, and as far south as Florida, I'm in southwestern ontario and remember hearing things rattle on shelves and thinking at first that a large truck drove by the appartment. A relatively strong quake in California would cause a decent amount of destruction in a small area though considering all that's in California it would still be very costly, however a strong quake on the east could potentially do a lot more widespread damage.

The X Files was about FBI agents (Mulder and Scully) who investigated unexplained things, it wouldn't be a stretch to believe that Dan was influenced by that series when he created Edward and the organization he's part of. The fact that DGB been interacting with extra terrestrials also suggests influence from Men in Black. But they could still be a branch of the FBI Considering Adrian had stated that Noriko ended up putting her career ahead of her family, it wouldn't surprise me if she had put in for transfer to an overseas position, working with other countries versions of DGB.

Also, I'm pretty certain the security lady there is the one that was using the crystal ball in the original EGSCon NP. -
I wouldn't necessarily say it always trumps everything, I mean, the affinity would have to be detected for it to trump other possible factors. Jerry could have given Sarah a spell based on her desire because he couldn't see that she had a affinity for something else. Pandora is much more powerful than Jerry was and could look deeper.

Given what Mama Kitsune knows (and it's clear she knows a fair bit of whats been going on and stuff) she probably has contingencies in place as well as Edward on speed dial if anything happens.

I'm not suggesting that there are more half siblings the same age at Diane and Susan, I mean Mr Pompoms could have been having affairs with women a year or so before marrying Mrs Pompoms to several years after their divorce, there could be a half sibling Akiko's age somewhere.

What Pandora said doesn't necessarily mean finding the Immortal (Voltaire) responsible would be as easy as just looking for their magic signature, she likely intends to draw him out by other means, heck Voltaire telling Sirleck about Adrian could be his attempt to get Pandora to show herself.

What are the chances there are others in Moperville with the potential for "summoning the bane", Susan already can, Diane could one day, and their father is a known cheater.

Sarah was the exception because she had an innate talent for the spell. If Ashley had an innate talent for healing rather than just a desire for it, Pandora would likely have been able to give her access to a stronger spell and let the ambient energy do the work. Also if I'm reading panel 1 of August 22nd's strip correctly, Pandora could have given Ashley transformation magic despite Ashley's goodness if she happened to have an affinity for transformation magic.

That's assuming Sarah awakens and gets more spells, which could be possible, if other spells Sarah could potentially gain are mental based, she could pull a Jedi "nothing out of the ordinary here" trick. There is probably much to be said about the ability to walk around naked without anyone noticing, would certainly explain why Susan doesn't seem embarrassed this time around, like "They don't even know." Well yeah, the crystal ball was for fun, but it was still functional, allowing her to view the convention floor and call out people running around. It probably worked a lot better than the security cameras and personnel. -
I think in Grace's case, having been created by a rogue government organization, Edward probably owes it to her to not allow her to be forced into another government organization. If Grace happens to say to Edward "I would like to do what you do, because you helped me and I want to help others." then Edward doesn't have to refuse.

I think Edward would want to avoid pushing them too hard though, Adrian apparently did that with him and Noriko and look what happened there. Edward wouldn't want to have that repeated with Tedd and Grace especially. I can see him being an advisor to the kids, insure that they at least know what to expect when it comes to magic and the paranormal, and if any of them happen to show interest in doing what he does, he'll guide them onto that path. I don't see him being all "this is what you were given and this is where you're going to go with it."

We know Adrian was learning to use a sword when he was young, Pandora might have opted to finish that training, get him physically able to defend himself first before moving on to teaching magic, she had 34 years before she was supposed to reset, initially she probably thought that was plenty of time to prepare Adrian, 18 might have also been an ideal age for teaching magic in general due to the mind being developed enough to understand it, any younger and they might have more difficulty controlling it. Anyway Pandora had every intention of working within the rules before she turned 200 but I imagine as the day drew closer she became more concerned that Adrian wouldn't be ready and eventually concluded that he wouldn't be able to survive on his own after she reset.

If Adrian had meant that all Immortals have magic powers that can't be detected by mortals who can detect magical potency, I think he would have used "Immortals" rather than "An Immortal." He could mean that his mother is the only Immortal he knows of who has that level of magical stealth. And that might support the that Edward knew it was Pandora when the egg dropped. Since Edward was once very close to Adrian, it's a reasonable conjecture that he met Pandora at least once before. Adrian didn't even know that the Wolf impersonator was his mother until she said his name. Adrian would have seen "Wolf" walk in and think "Wolf was already here, so who...." in which case he would then do his magic sense thing and determine that they were an Immortal.
