Just wait till we start busting out the puns.
  2. Story: Friday March 11 2016

Maybe more like "He's the ONE!" Whoa..... The laws of physics are based on what we've been able to perceive with our current capabilities in science, as we learn more about things, our understanding of physics changes. If we see something that appears to break the laws of physics, it just means that something happened that we've never expected. Magic as it stands still somewhat follows the laws of physics, stuff like being able to fly may seem physics breaking but I imagine if scientists ever figured out anti-gravity then Nanase's physic teacher likely wouldn't be so annoyed seeing her floating around the school halls. Heck Nanase's ability to create the dolls could be explained as a form of matter replication, drawing from molecules in the environment to form the doll.

Tedd stated that even though he couldn't have his own spells, he still has magic energy, the glove would be more like a diagnostic and programmer tool that contains a specific spell or set of spells that Tedd can use to program the watches. Of course he's had a lot of help from the excess ambient energy to so just like the watches, that glove might not be very useful anywhere else.

This glove is not to be confused with this glove, I saw on Twitter that someone was linking to Tedd's gauntlet, but that's not the one Dan was looking for. The gauntlet is also not just the normal glove upgraded later on, because we see the gauntlet at the end of "One Way Road" which happens before the "Death Sentence" arc where we see the normal glove.

New theory for you Zorua, what if Nanase's family originated in Tara and Andrea's half of the world?
  7. NP, Wednesday March 9, 2016

Well, Will and Gill said they'd likely be back when their kid is old enough to go to school so they could get a human form for him/her, and then their kid would get a chance to change that form if they desired before going to highschool, so that's at least 2 more visits. Also, they're not aliens, they were born in the US. Will could run for president, which heh, even though at the time he said he'd lose by a landslide, given the choices now.... I'd say he'd have more of a chance.
  8. Story: Friday March 11 2016

Nah, persistence works, Nanase creates a fairy avatar, but leaves the doll behind that could be reused later, the doll persists as a real object but is essentially created out of nothing. We know there are spells that lets a person summon a fairy, Dex and Susan can, though Susan's is more based on the fact that she can summon a magical copy of the dolls in her trunk, but they have a limited duration and either disappear after a while or can get unsummoned. I imagine there's another spell that would let the caster inhabit an already existing doll made in a toy factory, but to be able to create your own doll out of thin air and not have it simply vanish when you're done is, as Andrea stated, breaking many laws of physics. I do find it amusing that Andrea knows there are laws of physics, makes me wonder more about the griffin's half of the world, if they have the same level of science as this half or if Andrea has been reading through many books while she's been in this half. Edit: just now read the commentary and realized that's what you were referring to. hehe
  9. Check in here -- Welcome back!

We've all been there at some point, it never hurts to re-read through the comic multiple times at a slower pace, you might pick up on something you missed during the binge and also reading the commentaries can be amusing and insightful as well.
  10. STORY: Wednesday March 9, 2016

It occurred to me that this is a moment where people would be like "Nanase would have known this if she read her spell book.", but I can actually see this issue not being a new thing and that Nanase has read over the requirements for using the spell, but either the wording didn't specify that targets capable of morphing would require the caster to focus on the morphed form rather than the base form, or it did in such a roundabout way that Nanase didn't pick up on it. It's possible that the book just assumed the caster might figure that multiple forms would mean a link to one wouldn't be shared with other forms.

We know Grace looked up what transgendered meant for "reasons", so it's possible she came across some "other" stuff, especially if the safe search filter was off.

  13. Crazy Counting Guy

This article is 8 years old but I imagine the process for recovering data from a damaged HDD hasn't changed much: http://www.geek.com/chips/drivesavers-breathes-life-into-a-dead-drive-574764/ Seems like pricing and time are entirely dependent on the size of the drives, I dunno how many drives were involved in the crash or how big they were but if they had a lot of data on them, it could be time consuming and pricey to send them to a facility like that. The whole "create a bit-for-bit image" part sounds like a very slow process.

Aren't Uryuoms non-binary? If it's just a matter of making someone look androgynous, then Dan has already accomplished that with Tedd. I guess it could be more a case of if it's possible to draw an androgynous form in a pinup sense. Dan might feel that the results could look creepy. It's one thing to have pinups where there's a clear "they're female, they're male" or even "that's a male/female in female/male form" but probably an entirely different thing when it's "I'm not sure what they are."
  15. http://www.egscomics.com/?id=2164 Looks like Nanase's gonna try sending a Fairy over again, will it work, or will we get an explaination to why it didn't work when Tara was chasing Elliot in the mall? Also, Diane's confusion is understandable considering Ellen just referenced the fact that she's Elliot's duplicate and knows him more that just a regular sister would.
  16. STORY: Monday March 7, 2016

Ellen, kinda did try to tell Susan, if you count asking Susan if she had a cousin who looked like her. Susan: You knew and you didn't tell me?! Ellen: Well, I tried back when I started school at MSHS, but you told me to stop texting you. Susan: ...

    Which one? Panel 2, 3, 5, or 6? I'd say all 4.
  18. STORY: Wednesday March 9, 2016

The spell itself does seem to have safeguards to prevent a complete personality takeover, as Edward pointed out, the spell alter's the caster's behaviour while leaving them aware of of the changes and able to break character. So the only real danger of Elliot fully becoming Heidi is dependent on Elliot deciding he'd rather stay like Heidi and not the Heidi personality asserting dominance. It'd basically be the same as Ellen deciding to be Ellen rather than just a female Elliot, well...except Ellen didn't have the help of magic to create a non-stick-in-the-mud personality...well maybe she did? I guess it could be argued that the diamond creating her was magical help considering she pretty much started being less like Elliot from the moment she was born, trying to do things he wouldn't normally do to get him in trouble would be the start of Ellen being more impulsive.
  19. Opinion and Suggestion About Avatars

Personally, forums avatars can change based on the person's interests and mood "Hey this looks good as an avatar."::4 months later:: "Oooh I like this one!" and so I would have preferred people keeping the name they used in the old forums. Names are a more permanent identifier for me.
  20. STORY: Wednesday March 9, 2016

Alternate IDs, extremely likely. Female forms, hard to say. It's also possible all Elliot's female forms count as one but different from "normal" Elliot. (The comment suggests that Cheerleadra is somehow special in this regard ...) It's possible that all of Elliot's female morphs count as 1 spell and all Nanase would have to do is focus on the fact that Elliot would be female rather than trying to picture what Elliot looks like but I guess that's what's unclear about Nanase's fairy doll spell, does she have to picture the target, or just think of the target's name?
  21. STORY: Monday March 7, 2016

In Nanase's case, she got the guardian spell while trying to protect Ellen, yeah there was a high level of emotion involved in that she loved Ellen but it was more likely the desire to protect along with the fact that she had been using a fair bit of magic prior to gaining the spell, so one could say Nanase leveled up during that experience. Susan's case, I guess it depends on if she decides to go on a hammering spree after the Diane Bomb is dropped on her. Will she gain a new spell from it? Maybe. Will it be based on her state of mind during the whole thing? Possibly. It's hard to say how that could play out.
  22. STORY: Wednesday March 9, 2016

I had assumed that Nanase would have tried to focus on both Elliot and Cheerleadra, but it seems clear that she didn't think to do so in her panic over it not working on just Elliot. The majority of the guesses were rather elaborate though ranging from she hadn't properly met or been around cheerleadra long enough for it to count, to various forms of interference. Goes to show that the reasons for something could be very simple. This would also answer the question that Elliot's alternate IDs, and quite possibly his many female forms, could also count as separate people, which Elliot would have to remember this detail considering his female forms could be anything.
  23. STORY: Monday March 7, 2016

I agree, Susan will most likely take issue with those things, but IMO, she should have no right to complain about her twin sister's behavior. I think it's quite clear that they were raised differently and there could be any number of factors involved in how Diane turned out. Not to mention that Susan used to dislike all men only based on her father's behavior, which isn't quite as bad as manipulating men, but it's still something Susan probably isn't proud of. Plus, we still don't know exactly how and why Susan and Diane were separated at birth. Diane knows she's adopted, but it's relatively safe to assume that Susan has no idea that her mother may not be her biological mother. The first thing Susan and Diane should do after meeting and swapping notes is to get to really know each other and find more answers together. Judging each other and picking fights should be avoided. Susan's disadvantage is not just that she doesn't know she's adopted, but that her childhood is marred by catching her dad with another woman, and the divorce afterwards. Diane has long accepted the fact that she's adopted, finding out she has a biological sibling is probably something she figured could be possible so it wasn't a large shock to her. Susan finding out she has a biological sister would mean that her parents had been hiding an important part of her life from her. I don't expect her to take it well, which is sad considering how much I like Susan. Sorry, I was being unclear. My point was that this is something that shouldn't be simply fixed by magic. What would the girls gain by dreaming of another life where they knew each other and grew up together? Someone else's memories from another universe, that's all. It might even do more harm than good. Considering Ellen doesn't really consider her second life memories her memories, I wouldn't expect Diane and Susan to take second life memories as replacements for their own lives either.
  24. NP, Wednesday March 9, 2016

Actually, I'm going to retract my statement about Grace making up an excuse to keep Ellen female for the birthday as there has been plenty of opportunity after the fact for Grace to confess that she made it up. Back near the beginning of the story, Grace did wonder if Sarah was worried about Ellen being uncomfortable with turning into a guy. No hint that bad things could happen, just uncomfortable. Dan's commentary for that page supports it with him saying he "had trouble making it clear that the concern was just Ellen not wanting to turn into a guy, as opposed to giving the impression that it would be bad if she did for some reason." This leads me to think that early on it was more the fact that Ellen might have felt that if she turned back into a male, particularly back into Elliot, that she might start feeling more entitled to his life, and it wouldn't be fair to Elliot so she opted to stay female and continue trying to be a different person than Elliot.
