I acknowledge the possibility here but am not inclined to buy it. I can't see Pandora starting her plot to make magic common knowledge that long ago...
  2. Story, September Monday 26 2016

I wonder if today's outburst was scripted or off-script...
  3. NP Monday September 26, 2016

I'm mildly surprised Catalina hasn't noticed changes in her hearing...
  4. Story, Wednesday September 21, 2016

Niven's essay is great fun but Niven's understanding of the Earth-1 Superman was a bit shallow. He may have intentionally omitted certain points of lore that deflated some of his best gags. For example: You don't need a spaceship and a red sun. Superman has faced Red Sun radiation generators on earth many times. Once he even had a coat that generated it internally allowing Clark Kent to play the hero against a mugger. A nights lovemaking under the effects of Red Sun radiation would insure his paramour's safety (Niven simply calls her "LL") without resorting to kryptonite as Niven does. LL wouid have to spend her pregnancy under red sun in some form, probably using some kind of red-sun maternity clothes. The Earth-1 Superman is also powerless against magic. If we're going to breed Superman and entirely ignore Supergirl and/or Power Girl and poossibly returning the residents of the bottle city of Kandor to normal size, Zatanna might be the best choice for a mommy or a surrogate.

Everybody in Moperville takes it as a given that weird stuff happens. If the weirdness were the results of a recent action, people would still be unsure and creeped out. Dan has made a point of mentioning this and its side effects (the local newspaper is considered a tabloid, etc)
  6. Story: Friday, September 23, 2016

It's possible that Moperville has some enhanced magic just from being a point where magic flows to the other side. There could be some natural aggregation that goes with that. Pandora may have been gathering pieces for something just because she's Pandora and chaotic...
  7. NP, Friday September 23, 2016

It does look like Catalina plumped up a little even though there's no visual cues to the change as with the appearance of the ears and tail. OTOH, frame 1 looks a little flat for most of Dan's depictions of Catalina...

As Parson Gotti once said, "We try things. Sometimes they even work."

    Jeremy is the tough sell...

    It's on the test...
  11. More Speculation.

    Yes. or no.
  12. Story, Wednesday September 21, 2016

A part of Jerry's vow was "...Be it in this life or any other..." Which may explain how Jerry's vow continued into his next life.

Good point. We're working with limited in-continuity data in both cases, so we have to read between the lines. My understanding is people built like Greg are considered the body type for hard styles like Shotakan. I don't remember seeing Greg kick. Obviously he knows how, but not seeing it suggests his fighting style emphasizes punches more.
  14. NP, Friday September 17, 2016

I might mean Saholin wugong, but we both know what we mean. Soft style vs. Hard style. Math is fast and slippery, Greg is big, solid and powerful. The way I read Girl Power's exposition on Math, he surpassed human limits and the best anybody can tell he did it though training with no known super ability to explain it. YMMV.
  15. NP, Friday September 17, 2016

Greg could get an early warning system that warns him in time to react. I'd say Math has already surpassed human limits. I wouldn't count on Math not being able to break through Greg's shield, either. Oh sure not the first time he encounters it, or even the second.... We're talking something on the order of a kung fu master (Math) vs a shotakan master (Greg).
  16. NP, Friday September 17, 2016

I think you may be overstating the case. There are instances where matter and antimatter act differently. They seem the exception not the rule.
  17. NP, Friday September 17, 2016

No sure what else you'd call it. Anti-protons, neutrons and electrons are all things that exist and work the same as the normal versions except for how well they play with those afore-mentioned normal versions. It's the obs that have the powers, not Sydney. Sydney is not, for example, morphing into an idealized physical body that all others with powers get as a part of the package, so there's some kind of difference in play. By herself, the only power Sydney has is an ADHD-overclocked imagination. She's defeated villains with it, sure... I'm drawing a parallel. Math is so skilled, he blurs the line between "skilled human" and "powered human" To my mind that's very similar to the way that Greg blurs the line between sleeping and awakened without stopping at the usual EGS definition for "dreaming" (i.e. being Marked). Elliot, Nanase and Justin all straddled this line as well before being Marked or Awakened. I see Math as moving much faster than anything we've seen Greg do, though I'll grant we have not seen Greg go all-out either. Greg is arguably tough enough to take what Math can dish out (he has a force field) and ought to have more powerful attacks, but actually hitting Math with them would be the issue. Greg's techniques also require them to be spoken aloud. Math could theoretically interrupt Greg's more powerful attacks. For all this I tend to give first-engagement to Math. But with Magic on Greg's side there's nothing stopping Greg from moving into Math's reflex range and that's when the balance starts to tip. Math would be in heaven. Form there it would boil down to how far and how fast each can escalate their training before they plateau. I'm willing to give this one to Greg as well.

Chaos can have more than one pawn...
  19. NP, Friday September 17, 2016

I think everybody at the fight had powers except Sydney and math, and Math might be an ASMA-sort of exception to the rules. Hmmm....Greg vs. Math. My money would be on Math the first time around...
  20. Story, Monday September 19, 2016

This was not-Tengue's opening gambit, too. Get Nanase worked up and in her Angel form, which he knew about and felt he could deal with instead of whatever other spells and abilities Nanase might have that he didn't know about.
  21. NP, Friday September 17, 2016

    Sort of like this?
  22. NP, Friday September 17, 2016

I though it was a fusion of "bwuh" and "I dunno"
  23. Story, Friday September 16, 2016

I'm sure he'll have plenty of spot-on-correct supporting information. Ed Verres would have his own and it develops into an epic battle of summoned charts and graphs...
  24. NP, Wednesday September 14, 2016

    I'm telling you: Google Dolphin...
  25. Story, Friday September 16, 2016

I'm expecting him to explain why killing Elliot was the easiest expedient for stopping Something Really Bad from happening. He may reveal Magus' existence and perhaps Sirleck's. He may also attempt to implicate Pandora.
