... hmmm ... right, it's likely he still remembers her sane. If he dies by old age, he is VERY good adventurer. Part of the experience, I guess. She has pointy ears again in next panel. Hmmm ... what will she do if she falls in some trap while pretending to be human? Somehow I don't think she would actually get hurt. Blaike: "Are you alright?" Pandora: "Looking at the spikes in this pit, I think I'm dead. You will need to finish this dungeon without me. I'll wait for you in tavern." ... I think they did a lot of roleplaying.
  2. NP Tuesday July 12, 2016

To be fair, there are lot of movies which require similar level of willing suspension of disbelief to the "not-killing" hero. And some even bigger (**cough** Batman **cough**).
  3. NP: Friday, July 1, 2016

Flash media is what he said they'd be shifting towards. Like SD cards and suchlike. ... which are even less durable. Wallmart is not a good store for media with long shelf-life, apparently. 1) I have. I mean, it's set-top box, but it does have the functionality to play movies from flash card. And it's extremely cheap one, nothing special. Also, there are TVs with that functionality already integrated (those ARE more costly, though). 2) Technically, not only set-top boxes, but even DVD players are computers - just in nicer box and with few additional inputs and outputs. With audio CDs, it MIGHT sometimes make sense to built fixed-functionality device. Since then, the smaller price for chips manufactured in bigger volumes combined with rising complexity of functionality won over. Your "video player" is general-purpose computer with software on memory chip inside, and it's very likely this software contains operation system originally designed for PCs, just like there is linux inside every android device (well hidden). 3) The actual reason why movies are not distributed on SDXC cards is that everybody has a device capable of copying SDXC card. Movie industry failed to force some "protection" system on them, as they did on Bluray (which caused them appearing on market significantly later)

Yup. As many others, Dan failed to predict how fast will cell phones spread, which resulted in them spreading inside EGS in even faster rate.
  5. No. ... damn. He hypnotized me to not remember him, right?
  6. NP Wednesday July 6, 2016

Has it been determined if the first few comics before the goo story were canon? Or just non-canon introductions? There were a few cases early one where Dan broke the 4th wall which should have thrown the comic out of continuity but didn't, biggest example being Matt and Rat during the first Sister arc which Dan apparently regretted doing later on. Well Matt and Rat are definitely no longer canon.
  7. Story: Monday July 11, 2016

Or at least TO the 200 years, which is improvement as she was getting dangerously bored already before meeting Blaike. I don't think that's the reason. Sure, she would like something to surprise her, but the reason why she didn't reset likely has something to do with Adrian Raven.
  8. Story: Monday July 11, 2016

... that is one of possible reasons for the "incompatibility" I was speaking about, yes. Just ... it may be something even weirder. She MIGHT be regressing now, actually. I don't want to spoil it in previous comics so explaining now: she seems MORE mature here than she is now. In her case, it's not experience making her mature: it's Blaike.
  9. Story Friday July 8, 2016

I think the implication was the other way 'round. That she was the one who pressured or tricked or forced him. I don't think either is at all likely. It's certainly more likely that Pandora will trick mortal than the mortal forcing Pandora into anything. Note that forcing him would likely be against the rules, but tricking likely not. It's just ... he seem to be relatively immune to her trickery. If it would be against THIS rule, then it would be more serious and they would likely interfere BEFORE Raven would be born. She MIGHT be regressing now, actually.
  10. Story Wednesday July 6, 2016

But note that the "stereotypical cheerleader" might still apply. Oh. Sorry. Edited. I quoted them from your comment and forgot that the quote system is not THAT good to pick it. It wasn't. On the other hand, only story arc explicitly declared non-canon was Goonmanji, so it can still happen. I got similar problem when trying to quote. I got through by posting the "empty" post, which ended with error and then allowed me to edit normally. Interesting. Sorry. Accusing you was not my intention. I just found your speculation going on thin ice (although ... there are several more "thin ice" speculations around). I also don't want to deny existence of such phenomena, I just suspect that it will be often used incorrectly by people who have hard time admitting that it's normal when teenager wants to look sexy - because that's more or less what puberty is about. When we FIRST saw Diane, she was likely already PAST (biological) puberty, and her dress was fairly normal, so I really don't understand why you talked about "Inappropriately sexy dress and behaviors". Hmmm ... ok, that DOES seem costly. I also think something like this is the case. That "frivolous playing with mortals" is not only something not really worth as legacy, but also likely to get boring relatively fast.
  11. Story: Monday July 4, 2016

No it wouldn't. I don't think Diamond have intelligence and mind of it's own. Also, I think that most likely outcome is to separate BOTH enchantments. It's likely he tries to and it's true that not counting the possibility if Ellen being mean, there seem to be no reason why Elliot should be still transformed when touching the Diamond. Well, we have no real proof that Voltaire is being manipulated by Pandora. He is clearly working against her, and even though Pandora probably could find a way to somehow make him work to her advantage, we don't even know if she's aware of Voltaire yet. True, we don't have PROOF. I still think she will manipulate him soon, if she didn't already. She's THAT much better manipulator.
  12. Why? If Sarah considers the vampire look sexy, she can get it just as sexy upgrade, without being evil. (Although I suspect that it's not the vampire traits she consider sexy, just the other traits the vampire form got. And, as a result, will likely not get it as a spell. It's her opinion which is important for getting spells, not our.) That's not even on that short list because it's not "good" use but "lesser evil" use. You are doing something which would be evil generally but it's not considered evil when the person you use it on is "more" evil. That's on that short list.

Yeah, has anyone here read Neal Stephenson's "The Diamond Age"? That story takes place in a world of nanotechnology where, among other things, synthetic diamond is cheaper than conventional glass. I only read it, not memorized it, but I don't think the glass was so expensive either. But, yes, synthetic diamond can be very cheap. Throw-it-to-garbage-can cheap. (So, yes, I would also assume those sunglasses are from diamond, unless they actually DO break in the game.)

Digital media degrades just as analog ones. Difference is that you can't make error recovery on analog media. You can - and in fact, are already doing that even without knowing - add error recovery on digital media, making possible to detect which bit exactly degraded and then recover the original value and writing it elsewhere. (Most trivial method of error recovery is to store everything three times and use voting, but parity and more complicated error recovery codes allows to repair more errors with less redundancy. Unless, of course, we speak about high ionization, where even having everything three times may not be enough to fix errors faster than they are happening.) And, obviously, you can't make exact copy with analog, but you CAN make exact copy with digital - year later on different, year younger, medium. It might be safer and cheaper to burn another copy every year on normal medium. Of course, the disadvantage would be that you need to do something every year.
  15. NP Wednesday July 6, 2016

... the Germahn Labs crew seem to be mostly non-canon or outside-continuity-canon. Note that there are more cases of main cast and Germahn Labs crew working together - outside continuity in Q&A.
  16. Story: Monday July 11, 2016

Naah ... People change. (For very wide meaning of "people".) It was centuries ago. It is still possible to hate what Pandora became. ... although there definitely was no reason to hate her when she was with Blaike. Waaait ... this could actually be done by some other author, with just few hints about how immortals work from Dan. His hair colour might have been a recessive trait in Blaike, maybe one of Blaike's parents had black hair. Not sure how DNA works with Immortals though. Heck for all I know, that theory I made about Pandora suppressing the immortal traits in Diane and Susan could be wrong and she didn't need to suppress anything, the Immortal traits could just happen to be recessive in Diane and Susan, and Adrian just happened to have them be dominant. The question is IF DNA works with Immortals. Or half-immortals. It is possible the reason Raven can't have children is that he doesn't have any DNA, or he may have some but incompatible with humans. It's unlikely Blaike was pregnant, so it was Pandora ... and she likely did a lot of "empowering and guiding" to make the pregnancy work. Raven may have black hair because Pandora liked him that way ... or because she deliberately randomized that part of DNA. Alternatively, Pandora might be having black hair in genes and just changed her hair color with magic. Note that the pointy ears might be recessive (I doubt that, but it is possible) but the things she definitely needs to actively suppress are related to magic and immortal rules and are unlikely to be encoded in DNA at all.
  17. Story Wednesday July 6, 2016

... I find really hard to believe she would prefer Tiffany over Susan, but she might be less allergic to being called Tiffany. And yes, she would likely stay blonde - or maybe experiment with partially colored hair. It WAS embarrassing and for reasons not having anything to do with money or being spoiled. Going to France with minimal knowledge of language didn't make sense, especially if those trips to France were regular. If he would, why wouldn't she mention it? It's possible he's DIANE childhood friend. She might actually LIKE being called barbie when six. Definitely. First, I don't think her dress was THAT much sexy, second, while people sexually abused can show such signs, I find unlikely all people showing such signs were sexually abused. It sounds like reducing living people to just victims of sexual abuse. Personally, I think that Diane's parents, while not as rich, were better family for her than Susan's mother for Susan. She is spoiling her with stuff and making sure she has everything she might need, but ... I suspect it doesn't include stuff like love. Diane's parents, meanwhile ... I think they shown her lot of love first, but also make clear she needs to take care of herself relatively soon (well ... she's 18, that's not THAT soon, but Susan might keep the same level of support till 30 if she wanted). They might plan to take other children (or perhaps already did). ... I didn't know conventions are THAT costly.
  18. Story Wednesday July 6, 2016

Jerry also was like this, but then he grown out of it.
  19. Story Wednesday July 6, 2016

Oh. You mean from your point of view, not from EGS point ... although, EGS is implied to have known history very similar to ours. Never confirmed, though ...
  20. Story Wednesday July 6, 2016

You might want to talk with Andrea (and Tara) about that. Just based on what was already shown in EGS, the dragon can easily be summon, someone's monster form or from the other half of Earth. And that's assuming dragons were not common on our side of Earth too, before they were chased away and their existence camouflaged as legends by DGB.

... in lot of phone games, there is nothing "micro" on those transactions. While not exactly for the same reason, there still IS equivalent of "golden master" for optical media: the master disc used for pressing. There is no equivalent for digital distribution, of course. Or for cases where you distribute the content on burned CD-Rs, but I don't think anyone is/was doing that.
  22. NP: Monday, July 4, 2016

Meanwhile, shooting through both knees technically IS non-lethal. As pointed out by Terminator.
  23. Some of the oldest known art is sort of pornographic. Not sure how it was intended, but ...
  24. Maybe YOU don't. Would never stop professional. Remember that Jack Frost is shipped with Elsa of Arendelle. Not only they never met, they likely exist in completely different universes. Although there IS overlap in interest, in a sense ...
  25. Story: Monday July 4, 2016

On a related note, I'm putting good odds on Ashley finding out about Ellen's origin if Magus is indeed involved. ... Edward wouldn't like that. Dan said that this story is sort of barrier, that he can't do any NP happening after it without spoiling it. I guess that means that at least SOMETHING happening in this story will be known to everyone. Although, technically, it IS possible that there will be multiple stuff happening and everyone would know at least one of it ... (BTW, why this quote was throwing error?) I don't think Pandora is anyone's catspaws. Meanwhile, Voltaire is totally catspaw of Pandora, we just don't have it confirmed yet.
