  1. What Are You Ingesting?

Savory is a good choice. I vastly prefer it to unsavory, no matter how sweet it might be.
  2. Video Game Discussion Part 3

I still remember that boardgame where it took a WWII troop transport three months to cross the Atlantic. The poor sods must have been so frigging bored.
  3. For HarJit and Illjwamh

The Moderator: I would like to take this small occasion to thank two of our regular forumgoers, HarJit and Illjwamh, for going above and beyond to make the forums a good place. HarJit for their unceasing work with the Greasemonkey scripts to improve the forums and Illjwamh for patient dedication with sharing statistics and character appearances. I have pinned the Greasemonkey thread for ease of access. Illjwamh's Crazy Counting Guy thread, of course, is already pinned. Once again, thank you both. ~tOH.

You would be the expert. How long a time did those comics on the walls of the pyramids span?
  5. Story, Friday July 14, 2017

Talk about a long, slow and tortuous death.
  6. If you don't stop apologising, I am going to tell the bailiff to strike you and your apologies with a lint roller.
  7. What Are Your Brushes With Fame?

    The Moderator: Done.
  8. Loudmouth's Journey Inside

I liked it on the Prof's behalf. Seconded here. If I can help chip in, I will.

You should consider driving a Cnadillac instead of a Fnord. It has a much better AC.
  10. Things That Make You Happy

You should not let this keep you from blogging. If nothing else, you may give the rest of us an interesting read. I know I would like to read what you write about it.
  11. Things That Make You Happy

It can nonetheless be amusing to read older history texts. I have in my collection an early 20th century history text that discusses World War One; it is titled 'Lions led by Donkeys.' I was somewhat startled when the writer at one point detoured to what had happened in Italy after the war and spoke of 'the excellent Mr. Mussolini.' I checked the date of print and found it was written and printed in 1929.
  12. The same here. I have been kind of knocked out all day long and not watched the forums. I apologise for that; I am currently trying to catch up.

People would say, "He's bound to fit more easily in buses and on the Metro."
  14. The Moderator: As someone directly affected with a medical need, I deem it perfectly proper for you to vent here. ~tOH.

Point, but I still wouldn't like the extra trouble I would have on buses and in metro trains.
  16. Loudmouth's Journey Inside

Just remember that while the Pharaoh has a great deal of experience with cats, his expertise is really with Sphinxes. Which is impressive. You try having that big an animal in the house leap up and sit on your lap. It is a good thing that Pharaoh had a supersized mansion with supersized furniture at the time.

Dele -- -- oops. Sorry. Got a little overenthusiastic there. -- the Moderator

To be fair, I don't really feel that Shakespeare can be blamed for his lack of knowledge about modern media.
  19. NP, Friday July 7, 2017

I dunno. I think I would attract a lot of odd looks if I were seven feet four inches tall. And I would have even more trouble fitting in buses and metro trains than I already do.
  20. It can get difficult, especially when one's loved ones are stressed. But as my father reminded me once, at least you are still there to stress them, which is better than the alternative. He was trying to soothe me because I was fretting over my brother, who was very sick at the time and having a difficult time with his wife over it. (She was running a more than full-time job at the time, having to cover for her partner at the clinic they ran because the partner could only work half-time due to troubles of her own.) My brother has been fighting periodically for his life for a decade and a half now. He used to suffer from a genetic blood disorder that was slowly killing him. A stem cell donation from me almost took. Almost, but not quite. It cured his blood disease but he has been struggling with aftereffects on his organs ever since. I didn't cope well with that either even though I knew I was not to blame. It took my father to remind me that if I hadn't been there to donate stem cells, he would have been many years in his grave by now.
  21. The Weather.

Yeah, these hummingbird attack runs do get nasty. I think they are taking a leaf from the butterflies' book.
  22. Things that make you worried.

In The Whiteboard, Doc is going to repair Clara's espresso machine. I am now worried that he will try to make it fusion powered.
  23. Things that make you sad.

Meh. My mother drank enough to ruin four lives. I figured that was enough for my lifetime, too, so I've never drunk alcohol and do not intend to ever start.
  24. Story, Friday June 30, 2017

In other words, we need bollocking high temperature superconductors that will work at room temperature.
  25. As my wife has told me, don't borrow trouble ahead of time. Don't worry about what only might happen. It is wasted effort. Focus on what is happening instead and deal with it.
