Not relevant to your point (I think) but I felt like pointing out that with the universe expanding and most objects between the size of an asteroid and a small galaxy orbiting something and either rotating or resting on something that is rotating, unless one of the objects you are examining is your referral point (fixed or otherwise), it's almost certain that both of your objects are moving in some way.
  2. Story Monday December 2, 2019

That click seems rather ominous. So, is this a magic mirror - or a magic door? Is it responsible for the wand being able to shrink Ashley more than expected, and if not why did it "click" now but not when Diane cast the hair spell? I must say, I was not expecting there to be more to this story than character interaction and development with a side of transformation fun - and over ninety strips into the story seems like an odd place to introduce a major new plot element. Maybe this will be like Magus' attempt to possess Elliot back at the start of Grace's Birthday Party and be over quickly? At any rate, yay for sunburst-like starburst background in panel one!
  3. This Day In History

One thing Stalin had going for him over Hitler was he wasn't in quite as much of a rush to conquer the world.

Assuming the allegations against her were true; there is some debate on that point.
  5. Friday, November 29, 2019

Despite what Ashley told Grace about not liking being embarrassed in real life, I get the impressions a fairly strong part of her still wants to be part of an embarrassing transformation. It's possible she may not be able to relax around transformation magic until she knows what it's like to be embarrassed in that context. ...On the other hand, if turns out she really does like it, it will still be pretty hard for her to relax...

Yay for starburst background in panel three! (Almost a sunburst, but I think the lack of a well-defined circle at the center disqualifies it.) I'm curious what you're referring to with Tedd... Unfortunately, your "link" doesn't go anywhere...

Contrary to what people tend to assume, Michael Jackson's changes in appearance were not entirely his own choice. While some of his plastic surgery may have been entirely for cosmetic reasons, he got his first nose job after breaking his nose during a dance routine, and the second one to correct breathing problems caused by the first. Meanwhile, his lightening skin was the result of a couple of skin conditions (in particular vitiligo), and the makeup he used to hide them.
  8. Growing up Pretending (A Trans Childhood)

When I came to the realization I was non-binary (or rather, like Tedd, discovered there was a name for how I'd always felt) I was in a phase of trying not to think about the unpleasant parts of my childhood, so I never really examined my past in light of this knowledge. A lot of what you've said sounds quite familiar to me though, Old Hack, and it's making me contemplate how much of my difficulties fitting in as a child might have been the result of my gender. Thank you for the food for thought.

Hard to say; the researchers didn't have any Uryuom or Immortal DNA to compare it to. Effective how? I mean, all governments I am aware of exist for the purposes of promoting the well being of the leaders and/or the general populace. Contentment and well being are not one and the same, but they usually go together, so I would think content populace would suggest a fairly effective government... That depends on whether they have an electronic or physical display, and just how badly broken they are...

My Uncle once told me about the time he jumped off a mountain and landed without getting hurt - because the part of the mountain he jumped off of was a small rock at the base of the mountain.
  11. Story Monday, Nov 18, 2019 [Party-089]

The spell needs to be spoken to be cast, not written, so I don't think the spelling matters. Besides, Tedd's spelling is going to be just as accurate as that of the translation site he was using, so if the spelling is wrong it's the website's fault. Considering that he inks digitally, making changes shouldn't be that hard. So long as he doesn't have to completely redraw the entire panel a mistake shouldn't increase the page's drawing time too much. (Mind you, I'm assuming that he at least had the basic layout of the comic worked out before he started inking; if things were so up in the air that panel size could change or the comic could undergo major restructuring then staring in on the inking could indeed lead to a lot of wasted time or at least a sub-optimal comic layout.)

I don't get what the point of bringing in a slightly larger mirror was, either in-story or out-of-story. Hopefully this will be made clear in future updates. Also, yay for starburst background in panel eight!

From what I remember of those days, you were just the sort of moderator we needed back then. Someone less aggressive might have let too much slide (I'm pretty sure I would have). As a moderator you might be a less ideal match for the current more sedate forums, but I still think you're a good moderator. You may pull out the moderator red a little fast at times, but you always give people warnings before taking any more drastic action (in fact, I don't think I've even seen you do anything more drastic than lock a thread since I returned). ...This has gotten me thinking of the work you do for this forum, and have done for years, and while it's on my mind I'd like to say "thank you" for that work.
  14. Last Post Wins

The EGS forums are also the only forums on 910 CMX that have had any posts at all since August besides Heroes of Crash (which since June has only had posts by the author presenting new strips); many haven't had any new posts in a year or more...

And investigation of alleged corruption of the President is part of the House of Representatives' job. Regardless of their motives I'm glad they're doing that job.

Much like a love potion, the "chicken squawk" potion would seem to be the sort of potion designed for tricking other people into drinking rather than intentionally drinking oneself. Perhaps it's marketed as being for using on oneself to get around legal issues? (Speaking of which, I'm reminded of how disturbing it is in Harry Potter that love potions aren't illegal.)
  17. Story Monday, Nov 11, 2019

Well, I guess this provides an explanation for why Tedd wasn't wearing the glasses earlier in the day, though it still feels a little bit like a retcon. Anyway, yay for starburst backgrounds in panels one and two!
  18. Friday, November 8, 2019

I'm slipping; I didn't even notice until the panel was posted on it's own on Discord: Yay for wide-rayed starburst background in panel two! Hence the tradition of the Witch's broom. I've been getting more nearsighted since at least my pre-teens (I first realized I needed glasses when I was 11). The process slowed down in my 20s and even more in my 30s, but it has never stopped, and my eye doctor has not given my any indication it's ever going to get better.

The idea that the squinting had anything to do with Tedd's magic-reading ability never occurred to me; I always assumed it was foreshadowing for Tedd getting glasses at some future date (with enough built in vagueness that Dan could drop the idea if he decided he didn't feel like doing that after all). In fact, I'm pretty sure he said either in a commentary or on social media around that time that he was considering giving Tedd prescription glasses at some point. Personally, I liked the idea, and have been hoping Dan would follow through on it ever since. One thing that does bug me about this reveal however is the timing within this story. Tedd has been without glasses in all her appearances so far "today"; why did she pick now to put them on? I'm sure that will be a thing roughly around the same time we start seeing uncensored non-furry nudity in the comic.

I think pirate power levels are based on a combination of how high ranking they are and how cool/intimidating they look (with things like eye patches, prosthetic hooks, and peg-legs offering a substantial bonus in power).

While they might not be part of the "Disney Princess" merchandising franchise (or so I assume, I haven't checked), Vanellope was welcomed as one of their own by the other Disney Princesses in Wreck It Ralph 2, and if I remember correctly, Alice counted as a Princess in Kingdom Hearts.
  22. This Day In History

I was going to guess the Adolphone.

I believe I saw a few episodes as a kid, or at least parts of episodes. However, all I remember at this point is the beginning song (I believe Cheers was on after a show I did watch regularly, so I saw the beginning regardless of whether anyone was going to watch the show itself... also, I have a good memory for music).
  24. Story, Wednesday, Oct 23, 2019

I don't remember my math classes ever teaching much logic, at least prior to high-school. It was mostly just "here's the procedure" followed by endless sets of equations for us to practice the procedure on. I mean I suppose word problems required a bit of logic to figure out what numbers you needed, but very few of my teachers ever bothered to explain how you figure out which numbers to use (and even they usually thought explaining just once or twice was good enough). Not surprisingly, a lot of students had a hard time with word problems and wound up hating them. Personally, I rather liked word problems, but unfortunately many of my math teachers seemed to think they were doing us a favor by not making use of them much or at all. I hated math class because I did math so slowly that I almost never got what I needed done in class... And my math homework took so long that it felt like it was using up almost all of my free time (other homework usually wasn't a problem). My parents tried flash-cards to help me memories my multiplication tables, but there were some I was never able to memorize no matter how hard I tried. (Heck, I never even managed to memorize all the single-digit addition equations; to this day a lot of my "math" involves counting.) That said, I did enjoy algebra classes, despite how time--consuming they still were.
  25. Story Friday November 01, 2019

It got lost in a time warp. (But seriously, this is far from the first time Dan has mis-numbered a comic.)
