There is no proof that the attacker had no associates who might be similarly motivated. And I did not mean that a seven-year-old should be packing a gun or fighting, but it’s been twelve years and she is now legally an adult. Having some means to stun an attacker (stunner spell or a taser), or some kind of shield spell would be reasonable by now.

Arthur was too dependent on the Magical Shield of Ignorance. Seriously, after the incident, it would seem clear that attackers would target her in the future and that she should have some kind of defense. A stunner, a shield, or even just teach her how to use a gun.

And what sort of randomness do you desire? Do you want an equal distribution, as you get when you roll a single die many times, or do you want a normal distribution, as in when you roll many dice simultaneously?

It’s when she shows the ability to unhinge her mind that everyone should start running away from her. As for setting her sights lower, I am thinking that she would be pleased with anything that lets her family rise at least two steps on the social ladder.

In most versions of Cinderella, that is the Stepmother’s motive for disinheriting Cinderella—so that she can claim the inheritance for her own blood-daughters. Hmm, it may also be that the houses of Dunkel and Kitsune are also Royal in the EGS Magical sense of royalty. And if other EGS relationships carry over here, then Cindertedd’s mother was the maternal aunt of Princess Nanase, which does indeed make Cindertedd be of a lineage suitable to marry the heir to the crown. Meanwhile, Sarah and Ashley would be fairly weak Mages, as in canon EGS.

In most versions of Cinderella, her home is close enough that it’s possible to go there and back by horse-drawn coach, so probably not more than ten-ish miles. However, it is also usually said that high-status maidens from across the entire kingdom are being invited, and a good number of those would not be living near the capitol (e.g. the families of landed nobility living on their own lands). Those would be the ones who would have to find accommodations or bring a tent to stay for multiple nights.

Given that the ball is specifically for finding a suitable mate for the Crown Prince, this would be a subtle bit of means-testing—if you can’t afford to find your own temporary lodgings in town, then you are too low-status to be marrying royalty anyway.
