  1. Story, Friday July 14, 2017

Pandora must have seen Mama Kitsune's potential, but the "if she tried" part sounds like Mama Kitsune didn't try to reach her magic potential, Raven might have tried but if she refused to take direction in that subject then she likely didn't awaken. I still get the impression that Mama Kitsune is the older sister, so if Adrian failed to get her interested in magic, but was able to get Noriko interested, then it would make sense for him to have put more effort into maintaining that interest, which could have been the basis for him believing he was a terrible influence in Noriko putting her career ahead of her family.

And either Nanase can breath a sigh of relief for not being the one that spilled the beans, or Ellen gets confirmation that kicking an old bomb is definitely not a good idea.
  3. Story, Friday July 14, 2017

We know Adrian was Mama Kitsune's least favorite teacher, it's easily assumed that it's because of what happened to her sister and she blames him for it as well. It's also possible she never really cared for his teachings. Maybe she was more rebellious as a teenager and only realized the importance of tradition after highschool. Maybe she didn't intend on running Nanase through the ringer and trying to make sure she was prepared for dealing with Magic. Then Noriko left and Mama Kitsune felt that Nanase getting involved with magic was inevitable and so did her best to prepare her so that she wouldn't make the same mistakes Noriko did. Maybe, I dunno it it's a tradition to do so as my godparents didn't have a part in my naming. Maybe being a travel agent was an actual job she did on the side, you know travel agent by day, monster hunter by night. She might even have a blog.
  4. Loudmouth's Journey Inside

I think our last cat had other ideas for dealing with being declawed, she was probably a year old when we had her front claws removed because she was scratching the heck out of the laundry room door and door frame (door being wide open too so it wasn't like she was wanting in or out). Shortly after that happened, she went and jumped up onto the wood stove, while it was active, suffice it to say her feet only had a split second of contact with the hot surface but she was certainly paying more attention to the pain from the burns than she was of the pain from being declawed. I'm still amazed that she still liked sleeping next to the fireplace while it was lit, but I guess she figured it was better than trying to sleep on the fireplace.
  5. Things That Make You Happy

I've only had one instance of getting someone's autograph and I think you might get a kick out of it considering where you live. I wanna say it was back in May or June of 1991, I was in 6th grade and most of my class was out for either Track and Field or something sports related the grade 7's and 8's also had most of their classes out for that as well so the remnants were combined into one class for the day and we pretty much got to do whatever. Shortly after lunch our teacher stated he had a bus line up to take us out for something special, he didn't say what but we all piled in and hit the road. The drive was about 20-30 minutes out of town to an arena in another township where it turned out that the Chicago Blackhawks were doing a practice session in front of several other schools in the area, they did the whole skate around, shooting pucks at the empty nets, then at goalies Ed Belfour and Dominik Hasek, then they had a 20 minute mini game before going out to the parking lot to do signings and such. I didn't even know I would be there, I didn't have a pen or piece of paper on me but somehow I managed to get Ed Belfour's autograph. I can't even remember why they were having a practice session in a rural town in the middle of Southwestern Ontario, Canada, looking back, they played and lost the first round of the playoffs that year to Minnesota, they might have been just touring around for the rest of the post season.
  6. Things You Only Noticed On Reread

I'm curious, was rereading the archives, at the end of Sister II when Pandora is talking to Adrian, the 4th panel somehow got be thinking that I had seen that look somewhere else in the comic. Reading ahead to the New and Old Flames arc and we see Elliot and Noah talking, and panel 6 looks really close. Does anyone remember if there was any speculation if Noah was Pandora's son as well, or somehow related? I know Noah had stated before that his parents were dead, but there must have been some wild theories about Noah being lied to or something like there had been wild theories about Noah being related to Grace or Tedd. Now Noah is certainly not Pandora's son, she would have known if she gave birth to him. And she was certain that he isn't related to Adrian as we saw her refer to Noah as a "stray dog, not of our blood" but then we have it implied that magic users are descended from Immortals and the speculation that Adrian could have impregnated someone after all might leave the possibility open for Noah to have some immortal blood. Might explain how despite being a Seyunolu, Noah has a pretty good grasp on Magic.
  7. Things That Make You Happy

A number of years ago, my dad agreed to be the designated driver for the owners of the Ready-Mix concrete company he worked for and drove them to Toronto to see the Molson Indy, they didn't give him a ticket to sit by the track so he was just milling about outside waiting. At one point he got chatting with one of the security guys and the subject of why my dad was there came up and next thing he knew, he was being given a tour of the pits, got to see where the racers trailers were and such, basically a complete behind the scenes look. He figured he had a much better time that his bosses were.

She probably felt Magus' entrance just like Edward's group detected the disturbance. It would have happened in the Moperville area so probably not that difficult. As for who caused Magus to be relocated? Only Dan knows. I don't think Pandora would have ripped people from other dimensions to serve as entertainment or even as an attempt to get Edward to reconcile with Adrian. Voltaire might though considering he played Tara into almost killing Elliot so he definitely is a candidate for someone who would meddle with people from other dimensions and such. The other possibility is that the cause was from within Magus' home universe, a rival that wanted Magus out of the way, maybe an Immortal/Ancient/Fairy from there being mischievous or something? I dunno. Hmm...So I theorized that in Lord Tedd's universe, Elliot died and General Shade Tail is exploiting Lord Tedd's Seer abilities to fulfill the prophecy of uniting all Seyunolus. What if in Magus' universe alternate Voltaire had Magus removed and making Terra believe she killed him, thus traumatizing her greatly and making it so that Voltaire can easily manipulate her into using her Seer abilities for his goals. Though it's really hard to say if Terra was a Seer or if she turned out to be a regular Wizard (the duel itself suggests Wizard), Magic definitely works different in that universe but maybe there's something else special about Terra that an alternate Voltaire would want to exploit.

I can't say for certain if Edward had ever been properly introduced to Pandora, it's possible, but also possible that he thinks that Adrian's mother has long since reset herself. It seems like the 200 year guildline would be known to Edward and if he knew that Pandora was well past her reset, he would likely be more worried about the potential damage that could be caused. And with everything that's been happening, at least up until Voltaire's appearance and admission to being involved in some of it, Edward should have been considering that Pandora be responsible for it and calling for Adrian to figure out how to get her to stop. I think Tedd was around 3-4 years old when Noriko left if the last time Adrian saw his mother before her visit to the hospital was when Noriko left. The fact that Pandora tells Tedd he should have had her support suggests that Pandora saw the whole deal unfold, but kept her distance for whatever reason. I still think Pandora didn't cause Magus to be in his current situation, but saw him as an opportunity.
  10. http://www.egscomics.com/egsnp.php?id=641 So, an issue with the logic of "Beam+Paste" over "Paste+Beam" is that it seems like clothes ripping would still be an issue. Because if Ellen uses the beam first and resizes the clothes to fit that form, then pastes a scan of someone who's still larger than the target, clothes will be too tight a rip. But if she pastes first, clothes will potentially rip before she gets a chance to beam and resize them. Ellen would have to be able to simultaneously use both spells so the the beam is resizing clothes as the paste spell is doing it's thing.

Totally wouldn't be the first time:
  12. Story, Wednesday July 12, 2017

Here's an interesting thought, what if Pandora's whole "Egg and Hawk" routine nearly 3 years ago was an attempt to get Edward talking to Adrian again? Even if Edward didn't know that she is Adrian's mother, if Adrian was the one that taught Edward about Immortals, she might have hoped he'd go to Adrian for help, get talking, and maybe reconcile things, but so far it hasn't worked out like that and with Pandora's desire to not predict the outcomes, she would have been just recklessly doing things without realizing (until now) that she's only been making things worse. Though I'm thinking that probably by the end of this arc, Edward will be talking to Adrian again, whether he forgives Adrian or it ends the same way that Justin and Melissa ended is to be determined.
  13. http://www.egscomics.com/?id=2370 And Lord Tedd returns, sort of. At least we have confirmation that the Lord Tedd plot hasn't been retconned out of existance. And thankfully Pandora did realize she might have overdone the dramatic effect.
  14. Story, Friday July 7, 2017

I Dunno, maybe if the prism is multifaceted with each facet cut differently so that the beam isn't one continuous wavelength as the prism spins, it could allow for greater detail in the scans? To put it in better terms, the wand would be something like a multispectral scanner. The prism would be the spectral filter. Everything else in that could be adapted for the analysis and display of info regarding magic. The prism would be spinning at a fast rate so the camera would need to be taking snapshots just as fast and the wand seems to process it and display it all in near real time. Maybe the prism is also the camera?
  15. Story, Friday July 7, 2017

There might be a magic prism or something that's spun inside and some sort of IR beam passes through it, which enhances the beam to detect stuff like a person's aura (like Luke's sight) as well as stuff like rate of energy recovery and buildup.
  16. Story, Wednesday July 12, 2017

Yep. That's going a be a fun day. I should have added this when I first commented on it, but I don't think Edward would do that now that Pandora's telling Tedd. If Tedd went to his dad later and asked why he never told him all this and Edward attempts to dodge the subject, it would only make things worse between them. If Edward really does care about his son, he should own up now that Tedd knows.
  17. Story, Friday July 7, 2017

Yeah, that wand is tech based, but it's mainly a scanner so there might not be any actual magic to it, just components sensitive to magic.
  18. Story, Wednesday July 12, 2017

It's entirely possible she'll mention his mother again, she's already decided Tedd needs to know the truth. I do hope that she emphasizes that he was never told out of fear that it would undo all the progress he's made socially and emotionally over the past year at least. That whole "kicking a really old bomb" metaphor that Ellen had. Speaking of which, it hasn't been just Edward keeping these secrets from Tedd, Grace knew about Adrian having been friends with Tedd's parents and that Adrian blames himself for their divorce. Also Ellen and Nanase both know that Tedd mom's has been galavanting around fighting monsters and rogue wizards for several years. Neither of them know the whole story, but it's still more that Tedd knew and it would have got him asking more questions if they told him. Hopefully Tedd doesn't react badly to finding out his own friends knew things, I wonder if Pandora knows that they know. I'm pretty certain the "Chaos" part was for Magus's benefit, Magus opted to call her that because she refused to give him her actually name, and she was disappointed that he couldn't come up with something more creative. She then added it to her name as emphasis when they had their falling out. I'm not sure he will need to fake it. I'm still expecting Edward to walk in on the conversation any moment now, I'm surprised neither him nor Grace have come downstairs to investigate that outburst Pandora had. Yeah it's gotta be after midnight, Sarah was just getting for bed when Pandora showed up so it's likely she'll get enough sleep, I honestly don't see the revelation that Mr Raven is Box's son as being insomnia worthy, not compared to Sarah's first encounter with Pandora. Tedd was likely not going to get much sleep anyway as he woke up in the middle of the night and started tinkering, who knows how long he would have done that. Or 3) She's played right into my hands, revealing all this stuff about him and his family would certainly turn him further to my goal....wait what? No! You're supposed to be traumatized by this and go on a magic flinging rampage!!!
  19. Crazy Counting Guy

Just think, 2010's will be easy as well and then you can just skip 11-13.
  20. http://www.egscomics.com/egsnp.php?id=639 Bunny Susan seems like an appropriate side effect of Jerry's serenity spell. Makes sense that Ellen can't affect Grace's clothing with her current spells, but I bet Rhoda could, and Ellen could eventually get spells that let her target clothes or specific items, as it is, she's relying on her beams affecting the whole person.
  21. Things that make you worried.

I'm going to be optimistic that Doc is going to just fix it as to avoid potentially embarrassing Cara. Although I can totally understand Doc's reaction to seeing the toolbox. A slotted screwdriver? That's just barbaric.
  22. Story, Friday July 7, 2017

    More like quadruple post.
  23. Story - Monday July 10, 2017

Edward believed that keeping the truth of why Noriko left from Tedd was to prevent him from going back to being the near mute he was years ago. While it isn't the best choice to make that has the potential to backfire should the subject come up at the wrong time or with the wrong interpretation like Tedd thinking it was his fault Noriko left, that he didn't meet her expectations, one can't really fault Edward for doing so since he was trying to do what he felt was best. I want to believe that if Pandora does mention why Noriko left, the best way would be to say that it wasn't Tedd's fault, Edward and Noriko didn't know that Tedd was a Seer and it was that lack of knowledge that made them make rash decisions. How Adrian fits into it is still really unknown as the only flashback we saw was Adrian trying to keep the family together, and yet Adrian blames himself for the marriage failling, there had to be more to it than just Noriko taking Adrian's teachings more seriously than Edward did.
  24. Story - Monday July 10, 2017

The current conversation is like very early Friday morning, like probably not long after midnight or so. There's still potential for some scenes of people waking up, getting ready for school/work, some scenes at school/work, and some after school/work scenes before we hit the Mall again for Susan and Diane. There's also a Sarah and Sam scene to be had as well.
