Edward specifically said "assuming she played fair, which she wouldn't", the same would apply to Voltaire. As to what Voltaire will say next? There's soo much that can be speculated. Will he say why he referred to Elliot as the "pawn of Chaos"? Will he say why he tried to kill Elliot? Will he hint at things to come, maybe even gloat that he's set a series of event in motion that cannot likely be stopped until Elliot is dead? Or will he just simply state that what he's doing is "for the greater good" and then leave. Alternatively he can give them a pile of misinformation mixed with an equal amount of obscure truths and leave them wondering if it all was a bunch of lies.

Back on the subject of the rules for magic shrinking and growing people, consider what might happen if a spell didn't take stuff added through surgeries as part of the body, like metal pins for holding stuff together, or knee/hip replacements, breast augmentations, pace makers. That would be messy. Now Rhoda doesn't know this, but it is canon that growing in size won't hurt a person if they happen to grow too big for cloths or the room their in, etc, though it would destroy the clothes and surround room and stuff, if the spell didn't affect jewelry, most jewelry would either fall off (stud earrings would likely pop out), or break which in itself would suck because that could get expensive fast.

Nanase looks ready to kick some arse. Helena and Demetrius showing up again would be nice too. Jerry could also, Nanase is there after all and his promise to help Susan applies to her as well.

Well, my intended meaning was that with iron weapons and armor, it would be less like "shooting fish in a barrel" for Europeans to roll right over them. It's also possible that if the natives were found using iron, the Europeans might have considered them to be less barbaric. Like they look at a bronze age civilization and think they're too primitive that they wouldn't be able to grasp any of the more modern knowledge, but if they found an iron age civilization, it wouldn't have taken much to teach them to make steel.

Speak for yourself! If we don't want peers then why do we tend to gather in groups with people who are good at and enjoy the same things we do? Why would someone smart go out of their way to join Mensa to find others equally smart and to be in a Gathering where they are completely ordinary, instead of just joining a more conventional group where they could always be the smartest person in the room? Why would so many people have fought so hard, suffered and sacrificed and died, in order to free slaves and end Jim Crow, even though every Freedom Ride bus was half-filled with people who were white and thus would only lose relative status by your theory? Why would we have expressions like "A rising tide lifts all boats" and have the concept that society is not a Zero Sum Game? I'm glad I live in my world and not the one you describe, which would be a very depressing place. The problem is, both worlds technically exist simultaneously, and unfortunatly the one hkmaly describes gets the most media attention.

Yeah while Dan did say it was possible for Grace to obtain Earth magic and build up her own Earth magic energy pool, she'd have to find a way to suppress her Uryuom power to do so. At this time I can't see Dan ever having Grace do that and would personally like to see Grace continue to practice using her Uryuom skills which she has a pretty decent arsenal of skills and perks as it is, the ability to shapeshift, combining forms gives different strengths and benefits, her fur in half squirrel and omega squirrel forms are fire proof (possibly all animal forms have fire proof fur as well), she has telekinesis which not only lets her fly and manipulate objects but lets her create a force field to block attacks, and she can talk to animals with her antennae out. If she can become more skilled with the telekinesis and combat in general, she'd be a formidable opponent, even against other magic users.

I'm just relieved that Pandora doesn't want to "destroy the world" with Magic anymore, that could have the potential of releasing the eight legendary dragons.

Yeah, I can't remember if I mentioned it here or not, but the main reason I started used ad blockers was because there was a period of time when the ad servers didn't really curate what ads it displayed so it was possible to get malware and viruses from false ads. I'm still not convinced that it's been fixed so I keep the blocker on. I have tried to unblock Twitch.tv a few times, but they seem to have an issue with ads that are supposed to be 20-30 seconds long taking 5-10 minutes to play because it'd play it at 1-2 frames ever few seconds, some streamers that I've watched had it set to auto run ads every 15 minutes so it's a real pain to get through one ad only to have another play a few minutes later, there's no way I could watch streamers that I like with that happening.

I wonder if the threat of a system change is just another way of creating drama. Magics like "Too many people are learning about me, hey Disco Wizard, go warn a girl named Grace that I'm thinking of changing the system soon" and is now sitting back with a bowl of popcorn.

I actually think EGS is more middle ground with maybe a bit of a lean towards hard magic. Dan has developed magic in the EGS world to have no known limits to what someone can do with it, except of course time travel. This may seem like Soft Magic at first, expecially when you get the whole Will of Magic involved, but Will of Magic would also imply Hard Magic in that the Will has set up rules for how the system works, how people can learn and use it, the whole spells that fit the personality bit, and the fact that it all can change at any moment. There's also the fact the the way it's structured is much like science considering Tedd's role in the comic, as Nanase said, the laws of physics are more like polite suggestions, there may be flexibility to most spells but I've argued with people in these forums over how flexible and there have been many occasions where some spell theories just seem too overpowered to me, Soft Magic would be like "Sure that can happen." while Hard Magic would say "Only someone who's spent years using that spell might be able to do it." the middle ground would be "If the Will of Magic happens to favour it. The whole Will of Magic could be seen as giving a false sense of Soft Magic as well with the fact that if doesn't want to be mainstream, keeping the number of people who can use magic limited maintains that sense of fantasy to those that get a brief glimpse of it, while those in the know treat it like a science.

And we still don't have solid proof that they lied either. It's still all hearsay and assumptions, and it's worse because the two don't fully remember what happened.

In WoW, the original Zul'Gurub raid had several boss encounters like that, the tiger boss in particular was a pain because not only was there waves of mobs coming in that had to be dealt with, but for the first phase of the encounter, the 2 sub bosses had to be killed within seconds of each other or they'd get resurrected. so DPS would have to switch between the to in order to balance the amount of damage each had.

The charm spell was to lure victims to a secluded spot for killing, trying to convince a possible victim to follow them would be much more difficult without such a spell. Also, it's possible some vampires don't stop at blood when feeding. And maybe they have spells for hiding the remains.

That's what Rhoda thinks, but Dan's commentary suggests that with practice she could do more and do it in rapid succession, and maybe once she awakened (that's assuming she's able to after Magic is saved) she'd get an upgraded spell that lets her affect people and what they're wearing.

http://www.egscomics.com/egsnp.php?id=511 Almost had a "Hello, little Catalina." moment I guess. Oh, in regards to the discussion hkmaly and I were having in the September 9th thread: So it would seem that Rhoda currently can't affect clothing when changing size, but could later on, and maybe then food that she enchants could also affect clothing.
-
Catalina: "Ready to find out if you are Rhoda." Rhoda: "Ok. First you, then your shirt, your pants, lift up your shirt so I can get your bra" Catalina: "Not wearing one." Rhoda: "Okay...then let me...." Catalina: "Not wearing underwear either." Rhoda: "You were hoping I'd do this weren't you?" Catalina: "Mmmmmaybe?"

Isn't it still at the door with the rest of the forum goers'.

He only recorded the first fire golem incident, it was likely the Immortal manipulating him, only did so long enough to summon the 1 golem, then released Dex to go about his business again so it wouldn't arouse suspicion.

Gotta admit though, Eqyptian pyramids were kinda plain looking on the outside, it would have enticed grave robbers to believe the good stuff was inside. Aztecs had the unfortunate disadvantage of their empire developing at the same time Europeans were going through their "Our god is best god" phase hardcore and the spanish conquistadors that came over to the new world weren't intimidated by the Aztec gods and scary pyramids.

There's also the fact that while Grace flew off after Damien, Dr Sciuridae mysteriously appeared down on the floor with the others, that should have been a clue that someone else was around.

I never really considered A-Ha a boy band, more like a one hit wonder, at least in North America, and Duran Duran is a 2 man crew. I think actual "Boy Bands" started with New Kids on the Block, but precursors to them would have been groups like the Jackson Five, The Osmonds, The Monkees and possibly even The Beatles, they just weren't called "Boy Bands" back then. Edit: Sorry, Duran Duran isn't a 2 man crew, though it has gone through several roster changes over the years.

Interesting theory that Elliot's first public appearance as Cheerleadra was what got Voltaire's interest, but I still think it might go earlier than that. Helena and Demetrius had been following Elliot for a while before even Ellen's creation, Magus' frustration that the two Immortals could get in his way despite their improper resets, even Helena and Demetrius' frustration that they can't remember why they were following Elliot suggests that they started doing so probably before the comic started. It kinda lend credence to my theory that the two Immortals discovered a plot on Elliot's life and attempted to thwart it somehow but got reset in the process and I'm not sure it was Magus that was responsible for it.

There's a page earlier of more Justin flashbackery that shows Diane with a band on her arm which was clearly during the initial period that Justin was outed, the panel with Nanase later was post rescue. Also note that it's a single band in that flashback and when we see her the day Ellen and Grace first go to school, Diane has 2 bands, and more recently during the So a Date story, Diane doesn't appear to have any, and I remember saying before when this came up, if she did still have the bands, that t-shirt sleeve might cover one band, but not both.
