In the commentary, Dan suggests that this is part of a story Ashley wrote. In that scenario, presumably Ashley-the-fairy is Ashley's self-insert character. ... in my defense, I did mentioned the options are limitless Not just Ashley. The first question is if the internal story context starts in (copy of) reality, THEN the second question is if the self-insert character is connected to the Ashley from (copy of) reality. If the internal story is not connected to reality in any way, then, regardless if the self-insert character was always fairy or not, it's not connected to Ashley. (Ashley's previous story, I believe, DID started in copy of reality, despite likely not referring to specific company ...)

I dunno, Dan stated that he knows when Pandora will make her triumphant return, but it's only been a week, that doesn't seem like enough time base on Jerry's description. Yeah, in fact I was arguing like this few strips back, but I'm not always right, so I wanted to point out that possibility. It's not surprising any of them felt like this, but I still find the fact both do at same time suspicious. Not very suspicious, just little, but enough to point out. As Dan noted in commentary, Rich is not going to hit on people during the tournament because it's against tournament rules. That's something matching his character so I'm making it headcanon even if it wasn't in comic directly. Still, Larry might be convincing him to lay of the routine for "better" reasons. Unlikely. It may throw his off in his trash-talk skills, but he doesn't need those to win against Rich or Larry. I wonder if his next opponent wouldn't say something like "you are unusually quiet today" ... IMHO yes, so? (And I think it was mentioned when this strip was fresh ...)

I'm surprised shirtless version wasn't alternative on Patreon. While I see the advantage of "naked", it would surprise me from Dan ... and I don't think Ashley's outfit is any worse than fairy doll default EXCEPT the shoes. Yes, the shoes totally don't fit and fairies should be barefoot. Regarding the spell used, I doubt the tail is mandatory part of spell AND we are not exactly sure she doesn't have one. In any case, Dex's fairy doesn't have one (and is even more overdressed AND in high heels ... actually, even Nanase's Grace doll have shoes ...). So, who or what is the fairy? It's nice that in EGS we have multiple options: 1) It can be really Ashley, transformed, although given her size it would be hard spell (possibly Rhoda's, she's only one so far having spell like this ; although ... maybe Ellen could be able to do it with her copy spell? She WAS able to copy the cat, which wasn't much bigger ...). 2) It can be Ashley's avatar, probably without persistence but similar spell like Nanase's or Susan's fairy. 3) It can be spell more similar to Dex's one, although then it's weird she looks like Ashley - Dex's fairy doesn't look anything like him. And, it can be anyone using such spell, not just Ashley. 4) Speaking about someone else using the spell, it can be Nanase's fairy based on her transforming to Ashley, OR Susan's fairy based on doll Nanase did for her when transformed to Ashley. Only issue with this is the tail, but as I said, I doubt it's mandatory, at least not anymore. (Maybe it's default AND makes flying easier which is why Nanase is keeping it.) 5) Finally ... well, actually, there are limitless options, but final interesting one ... it can be Pandora or some other immortal, just looking as Ashley for fun. That would certainly explain Justin's transformation easiest ; for Ashley, keeping flying AND transformation AND cast on someone else would be hard, remember that she's exceptionally weak for a wizard. Nanase can cast through fairy, but she doesn't have any transformation spell for others AND probably isn't interested in Justin. Susan also doesn't have any transformation spell and may not be able to cast through the fairy. 6) ... ok, one more option: It's inside Sarah's spell. Doesn't explain why the fairy is Ashley ... and it's question if it's in "auto" mode or directly controlled by Sarah.

I would say that with the other two transformations, the time it took to first shrinking is neither surprisingly short nor surprisingly long. Although I wouldn't be surprised if Sarah turns out to have some clothes which did shrink as well. She looks naked, but do you EXPECT Dan will be actually drawing her naked next page? I don't care what Nanase says. Her scarf obviously IS magical, whether she knows it or not. Unless it's other piece of clothes keeping her warm.

Might be the angle of view that makes her look bigger, but not entirely sure, I do get the feeling that she's been somewhat distracted to be messing around with change blindness shenanigans. Remember that her transformations don't have timeout ; she could've played with change blindness hours ago and then forgot to return to "normal" because the time she expected Sam will arrive got closer and she got distracted. Or, like, she felt like bigger bobbies this day. ... maybe she usually has bigger breasts in store to encourage more spending?

Definitely. Pandora herself said that market people are likely to use their spell by accident close after marking. He might have some trouble controlling his powers, although this being El Goonish Shive it wouldn't be so serious. However, in such case, wouldn't he be even MORE likely to try to contact Cheerleadra? If he has any. I mean, if he lives with his family, he may easily have own room, but, like, just room.

Well, those are not THAT MUCH ridiculous things ... and Elliot is young and is not aware he can get thousands dollars for posing like this (not speaking about how much he can earn for, say, swimsuit modelling ; also, where else can they find model able to match the size of clothes? While commonly depicted as apple, the Forbidden fruit could just as easily be grape, pomegranate, fig, carob, etrog, citron, pear, mushrooms or some metaphor for something entirely else. Yeah but in the case of video games, many developers focus too much on the Video and not enough on the Game, I remember Metal Gear Solid 4 getting a lot of flak for long and numerous cutscenes punctuated by short bursts of gameplay. It's also interesting how many games are using more powerful computers of today to show SIMPLER maps than, say, Doom (original) or Duke Nukem 3D. Haircuts cost money. Haircuts cost amount of money which can be concerning for high school student. Nanase Craft might be searching for artifacts for money but I don't think she's poor enough to consider haircut cost as problem.

As if THAT would ever happen in THIS comic! Surprisingly, most transformations in this comic keeps palette ... or transform to palette of other already existing character. Yes. Hmmm ... didn't he tried to describe it somewhere or was it some other author? Maybe he doesn't plan visually ... or actually plans in grayscale ... or plans in colors which don't work in reality. She certainly could, though we don't really know if she's remained serious about drawing comics and such, she hasn't really talked about it lately. We also don't know if it would be fun for her or otherwise worth it.

I didn't even notice Nanase's hair got longer in the first place. And while I noticed there was something different about Gecko Sarah's hair, I don't think I thought about it enough to register that it was longer; at any rate I forgot it had changed. Seconding that. Only when Sarah said "hair" I was like "... wait a sec ... " checked previous comics and noticed it got longer.
