Things That Are Just Annoying
Pharaoh RutinTutin replied to CritterKeeper's topic in Off Topic Discussion
The solution is easy. First, find out if AC service calls are cheaper in winter. Next, Repeatedly run your AC in freezing weather until it fails.- 1,903 replies

In space, someone might hear you scream, But since you only have a period of time slightly less than how long you can hold your breath to do something useful, screaming and hoping someone hears that scream seems like a bad idea. -
Those eyes.... I can't.... They're not... What did... ... ... That is to say, yes Sarah. Tell us about your date, and DO NOT LOOK GRACE IN THE EYES!

See? By cutting off the last three words, your suggestion becomes much better. -

The Silver Age Green Lantern weakness to Yellow was supposedly a deliberate design flaw that the Guardians of the Universe built into the weapons they gave their agents. It is easy to understand a need for a weakness from a story telling perspective. And it even makes some tactical sense, giving the weapon makers a way to defend themselves from the weapon users. Although why the specific weakness to Yellow was chosen is a something you will need to bring up with either a comic writer or a Guardian of the Universe. Whomever you might happen to see first. However, the source of the Green Lantern's power was ultimately the Guardians of the Universe themselves, channeling their power through the batteries. If the Guardians provided the power, couldn't they just turn it off when their agents became reckless or rebellious? -
At one point, if I remember correctly, Dan claimed that he lost his original notes regarding the Uryuomoco language. However, I think there are enough fan made commentaries and translation pages to ensure we can continue to communicate. https://elgoonishshive.fandom.com/wiki/Uryuom https://elgoonishshive.fandom.com/wiki/Uryuomoco http://www.ookii.org/Egs/Uryuom

When John Byrne took over Superman in the 1980s, a lot of "technical details" about how his Super Powers worked were redefined. Basically DC said "Yes, he's strong, tough, smart, and can see through things that aren't made of lead. (And who knew that most of Metropolis was made of lead?) But really, he has LOTS of Telekinesis." The Big Blue Boy Sprout lifts heavy objects, punches through mountains, flies, breaks the sound barrier, deflects bullets, and burns anything he can see via Telekinesis. About the only thing he couldn't do with TK was pick up objects and move them at a distance, like almost everyone else does with TK. There were a significant number of comic fans who did not like this development. So the lesson I took was that there is little benefit for the comic writer in giving the comic and characters too much of a technical footing. Just write the story and remind your audience to Pay No Attention To The Man Behind The Curtain. -

"Like Tuna Fish!" "Salmon Brain" What is going on with the fishy references? Is this NP story going to be Dan's outlet for for all his aquatic puns? Or do we take him to school? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6l1GvDWtccI -
Why they changed it? I can't say.

It's a crazy class. If you register properly, pay the tuition, buy the books, show up for the lectures, complete the assignments, and study for the exam you WILL fail. The only way to pass Intermediate Evil is through some combination of bribery, coercion, deception, threat, and/or violence.

This will feel like a failure to Grace if she does not finish this party confident that she likes Ashley and that everyone else accepts Tedd's apprentice. So what will be the trigger? Wild Speculation Susan and Ashley bond over Jeremy

I believe I said this before, but I can not remember where. Mrs Kitsune knows her family history, what happened to Noriko, and more than enough about Nanase's exploits and abilities (despite how well Nanase thinks she is hiding everything). The mystical world has already touched Nanase. The elder Kitsune daughter is growing in magical and martial prowess. And this has happened with Mrs Kitsune's tacit approval. Then why feign unawareness? Why the big act? To give Nanase the one thing Noriko did not have (or would not use). A way out. Nanase's family heritage and Anime Style Martial Arts training had nearly awakened her long before her first meeting with Les Immortels. Even if Mrs Kitsune couldn't gauge the specifics herself, she had to be aware of the potential. And any brief meeting involving Uncle Edward could have filled in plenty of details. The Hocus-Pocus Highway is easy to enter. But if you want to get anywhere at all it will quickly force you to go too far and much too fast. The safe off-ramps are hidden, or non-existent. You are far more likely to end up on an "Authorized Use Only" lane, that is Strong Armed into government service. Or led on to a hazardous route, like obsessive battle mage Alternate Ellen. Or stuck in a deadly neighborhood like Not-Tengu. Or perhaps end up in a head-on collision as an Aberration. Nanase's mother is aware of the route her daughter has begun to travel. By keeping one of Nanase's wheels on a Mundane shoulder, Mrs Kitsune hopes to make her daughter's journey safer, or at least give her a safe way off that path.

Sensei Greg must be so disappointed with Elliot By now you would think Elliot could restrict his Super Sayan tendencies for actual combat and not struggle to control them for simple emotional distress. On another hand, in almost half of the comics featuring Elliot's father Mr Dunkle's nose has been deep in a newspaper. If Elliot had picked up that habit, these stories about how terrible people can be would not have been so much of a surprise to him.

The desert was served at a July Fourth fundraiser for the Washington Monument. As a precaution, political fundraiser dinners no longer feature "fresh" foods. Only greasy, salty, heavily processed, and over cooked lumps of almost organic material.

I thought Nanase had been avoiding the Verres house mostly as a mental health self defense maneuver.
