  1. Story Tuesday May 17, 2016

Second panel of the third row of that page, Sarah was on the right track thinking that Jerry might have missed an innate talent she had.

I was thinking more along the lines that simple enchantment could use less energy to keep going than the natural recovery rate which could mean indefinite duration, but the guardian form and other complex enchantments would burn energy faster than the recovery rate. The guardian form itself probably would have one of the highest energy usage rates out of the known spells, Elliot's heroine form would be a complex enchantment but it might break even with his recovery rate. Let's see, Elliot likely would have morphed before he went to pick up Ashley for their date, there'd be a bit of recovery time between that and the Mall Girl morph, then slower recovery between that and the first Cheerleadra morph that night, flying around might have burned a bit of energy, then after they escape the mall, Elliot has a chance to recover a bit again before morphing to Cheerleadra 2.0, then quick change to normal then Cheerleadra Classic. That's a fair bit of morphing in one evening, but then again Elliot's recovery rate was abnormally high due to his improper awakening so that probably helped a lot, but if his acceptance of the female morphs has fixed his buildup issue then it's possible his recovery rate is lower now.
  3. More Speculation.

The way most people think Magus' "revival" would work, is Ellen's beam would push Magus into Elliot's body, Magus would then take control of Elliot long enough to be able to touch the diamond and the result would create another duplicate of Elliot with Magus in full control. That wouldn't allow for 2 Maguses (Magusi?) with one still trapped in the spirit plane, and Magus has described himself to be more of an alchemist with emotion amplifying magic than a wizard or mage, then again he probably doesn't have full access to all his abilities in the spirit plane. Oh wait, yeah he did call himself a powerful wizard, sorry, the "straw into gold" comment threw me off.
  4. Pandora is Being Framed

Pandora claimed it was a "lesson in mortality", but I wonder if she thought Adrian had Abraham under control until Abraham pulled out the fireball. Or maybe she knew Adrian wouldn't succeed but still felt she had to have Abraham killed for hurting him.
  5. Things You Find Amusing

    Best DnD reference ever.
  6. Story, Friday September 16, 2016

The Voltaire would have been incompetent as a villain to not have Dex confirm that Cheerleadra was truly dead. Though that does seem to be cliche in a number of movies and TV shows and games where the villain assumed the hero has died just because they've fallen into a hole or off the side of a mountain or was shot in the head.

It wasn't just the time spent looking like Grace, Tedd had a whole spreadsheet for estimated durations of what should have been month long transformations. Based on all that, it's quite possible that if Tedd had originally told Elliot that the V5 transformation would last a day, the enchantment would have lasted only a day and they wouldn't have needed to go through all that trouble to get him back to normal, alternatively that would also mean transformations could last longer than a month. Notice how Tedd had gone 15 hours as Grace and then manually used the watch to change back, he likely could have gone even longer as Grace but figured that was long enough to prove his theory I consider that part a pretty gray area as we've only had one case of an animal being enchanted and that animal ended up wanting to stay enchanted, hmmm, at the very least that might prove that one would likely need to eat more when enlarged to get the same nutrition that they would when normal size. That would certainly be possible, though Edward did suggest that while energy buildup and recovery is slower when transformed, that could mean that even without the high ambient energy, an enchantment could be prolonged if the affected person's natural energy recovery is high enough. Someone like Sarah might not have enough natural energy to maintain most spells so her natural recovery rate might be very low, but Nanase's natural energy and recovery rate could be high too (her rate of hair growth while she was burned out might be indicative of her recovery rate). Of course Nanase can also burn calories to power a spell and that might also affect enchantment duration but probably for more complex enchantments like the guardian form, and the high ambient energy certainly helped with that as well, and Sarah couldn't even cast her new spell without the help of the ambient energy being high

But Adrian did say that animals don't resist enchantments the same way humans do, animals would have to starve themselves to keep their energy from maintaining the effect, but humans can more actively resist through willpower. Just like with Tedd's experiments, telling someone an enchantment would last a certain amount of time would pretty much guarantee that effect lasting that long, but don't tell them, and it could wear off sooner, or later and it could last for a while with really no known limit aside from available energy to how long it could last.
  9. Story, Friday September 16, 2016

The dragon was being controlled as evidenced by Dex's "There?", as well as when Dex had the dragon shoot a fireball at the dojo.
  10. Story, Friday September 16, 2016

But when Noah came in, the dragon switched focus, and kept that focus, chasing Noah back to the Dojo, Justin can't fly, what was to stop Dex from having the dragon hover out of reach and launch another fireball towards Cheerleadra's location?
  11. http://www.egscomics.com/egsnp.php?id=512 So if Rhoda used her spell in rapid succession, she could technically make a person and their clothing shrink or grow, but it could be tricky getting them to do so equally.
  12. http://www.egscomics.com/?id=2246 I guess Nanase didn't go alone. Also we know Edward is wrong here.
  13. Things that make you MAD

Yeah, but I just wanted an excuse to use "ID-10-T error".
  14. Things that make you MAD

If I meant 318.2 or F72.0 workers I would have said so (DSM IV & ICD 10) codes. Sounds like them trying to follow direction produces ID-10-T errors.

If Pandora didn't outright give Nanase the spell, she might have provided the energy for Nanase to continue using magic until she fulfilled whatever requirement needed to earn the spell. Nanase is Tedd's cousin so I would imagine Pandora considers her family, if Nanase was to burnout before she obtained the guardian form spell, she would have failed to protect Ellen and it would have been devastating. It wouldn't break the guide and empower rule to give Nanase an extra push to keep fighting.
  16. Story Tuesday May 17, 2016

Is it bad that I originally thought you necroed a post from May? Then I was like "wait, there's been no replies to this, is this a new thread?" Sorry, I just woke up, lol. The thing about the Question Mark NP, is it spans the whole day from just after Sarah waking up to when she goes to bed. So the stuff with Sarah trying to figure out her new spell happens before So a Date, and Pandora's visit is after. Dan probably figured it'd be easier to just lump it all after So a Date in the archives and treat it like a "Meanwhile, at the Brown residence..." rather than split it up.
  17. Story, Friday September 16, 2016

That's actually a good point, Immortals power can't be detected by normal means, but Tedd's certainly not normal in his sensing ability. His being able to sense the whale's presence and was likely part of his rarity and the glove enchanced his detection to see the whale. It might be possible he doesn't need the glove to see Voltaire's power, but even if it doesn't let Tedd track Voltaire through the spirit realm, seeing Voltaire do it might give him insight into how to travel to the spirit realm. That might be pushing the theory though, I'm not sure if Voltaire is aware of Tedd's ability or not, I don't know for sure if Pandora is aware of Tedd being one of those rare types of wizards, but considering she was at the card tournament as well, she must have seen him when he changed back to male, and then overheard Tedd, Grace and Sarah talking about it, and that was two days earlier in comic time, she certainly didn't react to Disco Wizard mentioning the rare wizard bit in a way that suggested she knows, but it possible she didn't considered it relevant to her plans. She still seems to favour giving Adrian a better future, letting the system change could have favoured Tedd's future. This immortal hangs around the griffins world. It's possible Tedd's dad has spent time there and is actually a sir! This isn't the first time he's been called "Sir".
  18. http://www.egscomics.com/?id=2234 Nanase did tell Edward that the vampires are possibly organized right? Granted, Edward probably is right that vampires won't actively seek out potential vampire hunters and feed on them, but that doesn't mean they won't jump at the opportunity should they happen to get close to one.

Possible, if enchanted food would have the side effect of enchanting whoever consumes it, why not the other way around? That would effectively negate any benefit.
  20. Story, Friday September 16, 2016

Or Grand Theft Auto. But it's the Immortals that are the mob giving out "missions". It might just be stating that it wouldn't be necessary to try to track him down. If he does state that he's no longer going to attempt to kill Elliot, it would be a technical lie to get them to let their guards down, since he's already set up most if not all of "Plan CM" and can now just sit back and see what happens. Like setting up a long line of dominoes, then pushing the first one over, you've done what you needed to do, the rest is up to fate. Of course, I wouldn't expect any of them to believe it, but maybe Voltaire expects them to not believe anything he says, so he could literally tell the truth and be questioned about it's validity, which would make everyone paranoid about what would happen next. Well, Magus had the unfortunate disadvantage of being stuck to a single plane of that existence, Immortals can hide themselves in different planes from other Immortals, so unless Pandora's powerful enough to see multiple layers of the spirit realm, it would still be tricky for her to find Voltaire.
  21. NP, Friday September 17, 2016

No tea. Just want them, shrunk, covered in icing.
  22. NP, Friday September 17, 2016

The food question was already answered in Q&A#4, in terms of a normal sized person eating an enlarged cookie, would the cookie stay enlarged once it enters the stomach? Or immediately lose it's enchantment? A shrunken person eating unenchanted food might be different though, of course if the shrinking enchantment wore off before the food was digested then no, but if you maintained the enchantment long enough, maybe? And yes I would believe that "IBWUHNO" is mumbling.
  23. Story, Friday September 2, 2016

That much is a given, I was mainly trying to imply that Grace could eventually use the watches if she went through the effort of building up Earth magic energy.
  24. NP, Friday September 17, 2016

Hmm, I was going to say that the page of Grace's epiphany about the marks should have suggested Rhoda being able to shrink, but now that I look at it again, I honestly can't tell if Rhoda shrank herself, or made her pajama shirt bigger. I just assumed that her mark clearly meant that size was interchangeable. There the small circle on top and the large circle on bottom, the middle would be the natural size. Now I want to see Catalina and Rhoda on top of a cupcake playing in the icing as a 2 character pinup.
  25. Story, Wednesday September 7, 2016

There's also the fact that because a lot of the earlier generation died, their ideologies and way of thinking never got passed on to the next, the survivors were left to interpret what they saw in different ways so new ideas emerged.
