Nah, I would imagine that trying to go through a point where magic is flowing would cause a fair bit of issue, like the concentration of magic going through that point interfering with the spell or causing potentially harmful side effects to the traveler, so magic users would need to create the portals elsewhere. That's not saying they can't be connected, like the area around a point of magic flow could have spots where the barrier between the halves of the world is thin enough for a portal to be created, but those portals wouldn't be able to channel magic through or else the griffins could have just got some sufficiently powerful mages to create a large enough portal to counter the clog.

 
Everyone knows hair dye in all sorts of colors is readily available and hair is easily restyled. But when that person shows up with their hair in a style far different from normal and dyed that color, it's still shocking.

I would think if it was that simple, magic would have done so already, either diverted the flow to say Detroit or Thunder Bay, or even create a new drain in Chicago. I'm guessing that magic, having a flair for the dramatic, also wants to see what the main eight does to fix this and is tossing hints here and there (via Disco Wizard) while munching on a bowl of popcorn. The system change would be a last resort if the main eight fails and/or things go too wildly out of hand.
By that description alone, it's pretty clear that magic is portrayed by Dan.

Hah, Elliot & Nanase's responses caught Andrea off guard.  Also, Andrea fighting to not go off the rails onto her theoretical tangents is pure, geeky awesome.

I think that the two "halves" are really co-equal, and the naming of their own half as the "first" one is simple cultural provincialism--neither is actually "first" or "second" except for the order in which a given society discovered them, sort of like how the "New World" was always here even though the people of the "Old World" didn't know about it.

I rather like the idea of Pandora being one of the options.  Mr. Verres, too, and maybe Greg.
Ellen from Elliot would have to be how outgoing and impulsive Ellen is, vs how laid-back Elliot is.  Any question about going out of town would nail that distinction.
Now, some quizzes, every question and every answer is obviously steering you towards a specific result.  I've always likes quizzes where at least some of the options arn't obvious in their intent.  Any question which asks about where you want to go on vacation, and has an option for staying home, EGS readers will know picking "stay home" will mark them as Elliot.  Can anyone think of a more subtle way to ask that question?

My guess as to why Edward Verres did not insist that Grace should live with her family once the Damien issue was resolved was that "the family" was being moved to an undisclosed facility.
Considering the trouble that was made the last time Tedd went to a secret government facility unsupervised, Edward did not want to risk it happening again because Tedd would have found and gone to Grace.  Better just to let her stay here.

Once upon a time, there was a personality quiz which identified your best-matching EGS character.
I think we could do that again. I can program the quiz easily enough - the hard part is the content: questions and scores for each character for each question.
We can start with the most-main characters and expand.
- I propose that we look at a pair of characters and propose a question that would distinguish them well. Then, we figure out how other characters would answer (for those we have a definite answer). Narrow the answers down a bit, and then score each answer for each character (if we don't know how the character would answer, score will be near 0; answers they would definitely not make would score negative).
We then repeat with another pair of characters - preferably two with similar answers so far, or no scores far from 0 - and repeat (toward the end I can guide our choice of characters by doing some statistics to see who looks most similar).
- Also, we'll need new banners.
- If it turns out to be reasonable to add lots of people, we can have multiple versions of characters based on which part of their character development you match best. This won't be too bad, since we can mostly reuse scores with a few tweaks. 2016 Nanase is still a lot like 2008 Nanase.
- But, we will still need to come up with a score for every answer of every question for each character we add, AND the number of questions and answers will need to increase as we add more characters - though, importantly, that increase can be sub-linear, and for more-fun-more-questions sake, we will probably have them sufficiently overspecified that we don't need to add more questions quickly as we add in characters.

Quite likely. It would explain his 'to **** with keeping a low profile' comment just before he pulled out the bombs.

Or, it might have been her reaching puberty that triggered the attack.  He let them take care of her until she showed signs of being potentially fertile, as many hybrids in the real world are not, and then claimed her.  If he found out about the eggs in the course of the raid, that might be why he then held off on raping her until finding out whether that better option panned out.  If making eggs is a conscious action, better to keep Grace afraid of him but relatively well-cared-for so she'd be less likely to flatly refuse to make them.  After all, if, in the end, he still couldn't get her to do it, hecould always go back to the original plan, in which she'd have no choice.... :-(

I think that the other scientist didn't exactly ended better than Mr. Guyur. Dr. Sciuridae might've been only scientist who wasn't on site when Damien attacked.
Yes, that's what I was speaking about. Damien might've attacked before she reached puberty.

I don't think she's living rent free anymore, at the very least working at Salty Crackers has allowed her to help out with buying groceries and stuff, and she likely helps keep the house clean.

I don't think she'd be heading for a bad time, Grace isn't the sort to do a Genocide run. Yet.
 
Still, I think this is more a matter of Grace wanting to stay in Tedd's dad's good... Graces, pardon the pun.
 
After all, she is a freeloading girlfriend of his son, living rent free, as well as a weirdness magnet on top of Tedd's weirdness magnettery in a town that is made of weirdness magnets and a declining population innocent bystanders. Plus she's totally anxious about how figures of authority see her (as seen in the school segment and how she deals with Mr Verted) compounded by a secret superpowered life she barely Clark Kents at all (Now Elliot, he Kents so hard that I think he has a thing for people with prominent S sounds in their name, like how Superman loves everyone with the initials LL because of a golden age in-joke that never had a punchline)

More than Weisman.  Star Trek writers had been doing that for decades for the same reason.  Too many loons who sue because someone wrote a story/movie/song that happened to be similar to what they wrote but was never read/heard by the people being sued.
It's just good legal sense, unfortunately.

As opposed to Lady Sally Callahan's place, where the sign at the entrance reads "PLEASE COME AGAIN"  ;-)
 
Personally, I'm with Grace, but I don't want to make anyone else feel uncomfortable, either.  So, I generally wear more clothes than I would if it weren't for the social mores.

I think you meant this as a joke but that is pretty much what happens when you often find yourself needing to get dressed in a hurry in your own home.

This entire story line has had me feeling for various characters and/or laughing at how the situation can be like my life at times. In this particular case I live in a nudist household. I am pretty fine with my room mates seeing me in just about any state of dress/undress. But when we all hear a particular boyfriend (Or worse, family) walks through the door *zoom* all of a sudden everyone is dressed.
