The inexperienced wish granter can be a fun gag. But it does grow tiresome quickly. On the other pseudopod, the author could have tried changing things up with a Marlon Brando reference. -

Little girl asked to read her personal/family history report for the first time in front of high school seniors. Even if she knows the audience is largely sympathetic, it can be intimidating.

But if Sarah & Ashley are sisters, and Elliot had to break up with Sarah because he thought of her as a sister, then won't he end up regarding Ashley as a sister? This would be so much easier in Ancient Egypt.
