The Old Hack got a reaction from Ser Pentrose in Story: Wednesday, April 20, 2016
Possibly transmutation of lead into gold. In the late Mr. Pratchett's masterpieces, this was one of the primary objectives of Ankh-Morpork's alchemists. Unfortunately, the only process they mastered with any degree of consistency was the art of turning gold into less gold.

The Moderator: Matoyak does have a point, InfiniteRemnant. You did come across a bit strongly. Something like "I personally find him irritating, but to each their own" might have been better when responding in this way.

Alas, Phill. A great, tragic character only allowed the briefest of moments of glory on page in EGS.

"In retrospect, that griffin was probably noteworthy." is pretty good foreshadowing though

Oh, so that is why Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith were knocking on my neighbour's door the other day. I was wondering.

Universally applicable.

I am contemplating the irony of a person shooting someone in the head and said someone then survives to become their obsessed stalker. That scenario is so wrong and twisted that it gives me cold chills.

I still don't agree. That would be the act of a man seeking to blame someone else for his own actions, fully along the lines of "The Devil made me do it", and I have a far higher opinion of Mr. Verres than that. If anyone knows the power of Mr. Verres' temper, it is Mr. Verres himself. I think he has enough self-honesty to not do that.

I'm a bit proud of Abner there. Best to not just blindly follow.
That said I think Voltaire might be a bit beyond his best by date.

I have done the best I could, but it would not have been possible without the support of the rest of the posters here. For which I am more grateful than I can say. I am not perfect and I make mistakes, and it is largely due to those aforementioned posters that I catch as many of these mistakes as I do. *sigh*

I think this is Ellen trying, once again, to differentiate herself from Elliot. By deliberately not going to the dojo she establishes another difference in their behavior patterns. It might be reaching a bit, but given how desperate she was to not just be female Elliot locked out of her old life, it is rather understandable to me.

Oh, God, the toxicity. I stopped visiting for the same reason and more or less retreated to the Off Topic forum. I'm just now getting back into the main forums.

All that says is that he's decided to stop avoiding calling them vampires. I find it more in character for certain groups to call them aberrations and others vampires. There's no point in completely retconning calling them aberrations when it still makes sense.

Or that the addition of a bit of personal risk just makes the whole thing more fun. Pandora's main purpose is to ease her boredom, and I'd imagine that adding elements of personal risk as well as elements of uncertainty can help with this.

What? When did this happen? Did we even read the same comic? Magus never even came near to making Edward do that. He flat out refused to do it even when Pandora threatened him. Under terrible pressure and in what amounts to indefinite solitary confinement he retained enough integrity to say, "Blow that." If anything, that moment was what sealed the deal for me and convinced me that Magus was not and never would be a villain -- just desperate and with very very few options left to him in what he could do.
