Ouch. Still, better that they have been found now rather than they get left alone to worsen still further.

Oh hey, just realized, Sarah knows Tedd can see magic spells in action, she's probably wants to show him her spell as well.
Mainly though I think she wants to talk more about fixing the energy clog.
Also it occurred to me that maybe she texted Elliot first because Pandora mentioned Elliot being in danger from another Immortal?

Dropbox is being a bigger pain in the ass than normal.  Problem is I've got all 500+ Gigs on my external drive and it goes nuts if I tell it that's where I want it to play with.  After some select `find . -iname "*dropbox*" -exec rm -rfv {} \;` action and a reload, followed by being very selective as to what directories I want it's being slight more rational.  Still going to take a while.   Adobe is being rational, so there is that.  MEGAsync is just slow, but that's the one in New Zealand, so yeah.  It's almost done now.

Computer arrived, OS X 10.11.6 installed, all my standard apps installed, spell check works.  Only thing giving me fits, of course, is Adobe Acrobat Pro.  It always is flaky. The machine is just a little bit sluggish right now because it's doing a rather massive upload/download thing with 3 of my 6 cloud storage.  3 of them are done, but Dropbox, MegaDrive and Microsoft One Drive are still in mass mode.  Mega claims it's going to take 20+ hours to finish, but given it's encrypted data coming from New Zealand, that's possible. I dumped a ton of stuff into the One Drive folder (every thing that was in the old SkyDrive folder, that being the older version) and Drop box has 500+ Gigs to sort over and decide which ones need to go up and or down.  I expect it to take a day or so.

Fan ratings usually put Datalore or Arsenal of Freedom at the top of season one.  They're OK, but I wouldn't say great.
There's a LOT of wasted potential in NextGen, they had some genuinely talented actors, what with Stewart, Spiner and Burton in the main cast, and most of the rest of the cast and guests are at least competent.  Too bad they didn't get better scripts.  And of course if you have good actors, you naturally want to cast them as an emotionless robot and a character with a prop obscuring his face.  It's amazing someone didn't decide Picard had voice damage and make Stewart deliver his lines through a voder.  Maybe the prop budget didn't stretch.

You're making me realize just how long ago I watched TNG.  I think most episodes, I haven't seen since they aired, although there have been a few favorites I nearly wore out the tape on.  (Yes, tape.  We taped it, and I watched the tapes.  DVDs first weren't around and then were expensive.)  I may have to re-watch the series, although I think I need to watch the huge chunk of David Tennant's Doctor that I haven't seen yet first....

As flawed as Season 2 was, it did lay the groundwork for the rest of the series. Season 1 attempted to portray humanity and the universe in general as more peaceful and perfect compared to the setting in TOS, but that didn't work out very well so Season 2 saw characters having flaws, struggling with questions of honor and loyalty, and even introduced the Borg.

Not to worry. I am sure that the people who write those ships find you laughable, too.
Eh. I may be a liberal but I am not blind to the fact that there's a bunch of idiots out there who WANT to be offended and look for any excuse to be just so they can look down their nose at people. You do not have anything whatsoever to prove, certainly not to me.
As to the misogyny, I am specifically talking about the attacks made because they were women. They might not have come from a very large group of people but they more than made up for it in volume and obnoxiousness. Personally I find my blood pressure rising whenever I come across threats of violence and rape, and both kinds were all too frequent. *sigh*

There is no comparison. Twilight Sparkle has more sense (common AND horse) in her left rear hoof than may be found in the entirety of the Twilight book series.

Oh yes. Some consider it breaking with Gene Roddenberry's ideal. I personally believe that a flawed ideal is better than either no ideal at all or a completely perfect one. The flawed ideal forces you to think about it and to fight for it; in the case of no ideal at all there is nothing worth fighting for and in the case of the perfect ideal there is no need for either thinking or fighting. And that would promote a passivity and absence of creativity and ambition that I find frightening to contemplate.
As to the second season thing, rules of thumb are often flawed. Most of season two was bland at best and a huge loss of potential at worst. There may have been a good episode in season one but I cannot remember any offhand.

That is not a factor. It is an assumption. There is an important difference. If it were a correct assumption, no women would ever go to movies only featuring men. Blacks, First Nationers, Latinos would scarcely watch movies at all. For that matter, I would not currently sit glued to Netflix's Luke Cage. Moreover, the actual assumption is "if we use women or coloured people or Latinos/whatever then our movies will bomb." I suppose that explains why The Force Awakens so utterly bombed that Disney lost a fortune on it.
No, wait, actually it was a huge box office success. My bad.

I'm not surprised to hear there might be hints in season 3.  My understanding of Season 7 was "Last season.  Screw it, nothing matters anymore"

The accuracy possible increases with the number of satellites used. When the GPS system was new the high accuracy was considered a problem as it could be used by a foreign military. To prevent this a pseudo random time modifier was used by the satellites. This degraded signal was believed to allow for an accuracy of about 100 yards which was thought to be good enough for civilian uses. The US military GPS receivers were able to use the same pseudo random algorithm to calculate the original time and thus were able to achieve the full accuracy that the system is capable of.
While an accuracy of 100 meters might have been fine for some civilian use it wouldn't be good enough for something like a GPS navigator for a car. But through some software trickery GPS manufacturers were able to increase the accuracy to about 25 yards. This was much better but not enough for really demanding applications, and that's when someone dreamed up Differential GPS. By having a stationary GPS receiver transmit the satellite data to a computer they could calculate how large the time error was. That data was then sent as a radio signal that DGPS capable receivers would use to correct their received satellite signals. In favorable situations it was possible to get an accuracy of about 4 inches this way.
Around 2000 it was determined that as DGPS had made it possible to achieve greater accuracy than what the military grade GPS receivers was capable of there was no reason to keep degrading the service for civilian use and the feature was turned off. Even so DGPS is still used for demanding applications today as it can correct some errors introduced by the atmosphere.
Modern GPS receivers can track a large number of satellites simultaneously. While in theory it should be possible to triangulate your position using 3 satellites 4 is actually considered the minimum that's usable and 6 is adequate for most purposes. But modern GPS receivers can track many more than that. Tests show that there are significant improvements even going from 13 to 15 tracked satellites, it can improve the accuracy from about 2 yards to about one.

Note that you may get excellent accuracy with only four satellites if the reception is good, but using more satellites improves the reliability.
And why on earth did I feel compelled to write this? I really don't remember, but perhaps it was to remind people just how amazingly complex the GPS system is, and yet we take it for granted today as almost all new mobiles and pads has GPS capability.
