I didn't like Professor Umbridge. She came as a professor but acted like an abusive sadist.
Oh wait, umbrage. Never mind, carry on.

Most humans have the ability to imagine how another human might feel in a given situation.  We call it empathy.  Admittedly, we are not always accurate when we attempt to guess what is going on in another person's head.  And far too many people fail to exercise this ability often enough.  But the ability is still there.
Elliot is an oddity in that he rarely turns off the empathy.  He doesn't always get it right, and has been known to react with excessive violence.  He claims that he does not care what other people feel, think, or say about him, but he is always thinking about how others feel.
It is not surprising that he spends much of his life on a self imposed guilt trip.  It is actually almost surprising that he can ever get off that guilt trip long enough to get anything done.  But don't worry Elliot.  I'm certain that whatever you do, you will find something you did, or failed to do, that will throw you back to your guilt trip.

    It's not camera. It's Elliot.
... wait. That sounds even worse.
There is very obvious differences between Susan and Diane. Like, Susan is awakened.
... what, you think Jeremy wouldn't be able to tell?
It's fantastic how he can put so much in relatively simple style.

But remember, if they didn't do it that way, users might - gasp - refuse to install the updates! Especially if they know what's inside.
    Or upgrade to linux.
That 'free upgrade' was neither free nor upgrade.
Only way the upgrade will not be inconvenient would be if they let user choose when it happens. Person who actually USE the computer will object both if it won't allow to be used when he starts it in morning to start working AND if it won't turn off in night when he really want the computer to be quiet so he can sleep.
Note that it IS possible to do most of upgrade on running system. If the system is designed by someone with actual brain. Case in point, almost any distribution of linux. It would still be inconvenient if you can't choose time to upgrade.

Actually, Ashley doesn't know Japanese, she's only tried to learn spanish but kept falling asleep in class. She's also very sure her family doesn't come from Japan. It'd be a fair assumption that the manga she reads has been translated to english.
While it can probably be argued that Grace falls under Uryuoms, it still feels wrong to not have her named here.

Maybe we can stick with the computer model here:

Now in the case of Magic, the hardware layer would be stuff like energy and processes needed for spells and such to function, the user layer and libraries are the spells and such that humans, Uryuoms, etc can use, and the kernel layer is the api for which the user layer interacts with the hardware layer.
Now Uryoums not being affected by a system change suggests that for them, the user layer can directly interact with the hardware layer without much need for the kernel all the kernel is for, after all, is to offload a lot of the work needed to get software to use hardware which reduces the amount of code. For humans though, they rely on the kernel as the method of working with the hardware and any change in the kernel could affect how the software works and could even break it entirely much like how Window XP and later had checks in place to detect if someone attempts to install a windows 9x program software developers had adjusted to make similar checks which is why we went straight from windows 8 to windows 10 because windows 9 would potentially break everything.

If the Earth also sheds Sirleck and its entire elite class of Vampires as a result of the reset, Leifeld could come out looking pretty good.

By teaching them about the consequences, and giving them a sense of self-worth so that they'll believe they have a future worth protecting.

While I am not one to jump on the 'computer games corrupt our children and turn them evil' bandwagon I did once read an interesting argument for why certain computer games might result in dulling the "don't kill" reflex most people have built into them somewhere. It is a very complex matter described by Colonel Dave Grossman in his book 'On Killing' and deals with methods used to train soldiers in how to be more efficient killers, the psychological consequences of putting that training to use and the eerie overlap between this training and certain modern computer games.

Unlike certain hysterics, I do not believe that Legend of Zelda or Bejeweled will turn children into psychopathic mass murderers. The issue is a bit more complicated than that. But I am no longer convinced that there is no relationship between modern entertainment media and increases in killing at all.

I don't think anyone had to do that with me, for as long as I can remember, the more real the violence looked in a game, the less I wanted to play it, during the late 80's and 90's this wasn't so bad because it was pretty much all cartoonish, but nowadays if there's an option to turn off blood and gore, I'd very likely turn it off. The fact that you can't turn blood and gore off in real life is a pretty darned good deterrent for me.
I'll be honest though, there was that one scene in Duke Nukem 3D that grossed the hell out of me when I first played through. lol

What makes an artist express himself by telling the story of gender bending high school kids?

Real life can be terribly addictive.
And discovering something about oneself can feel unpleasant but is usually a good thing. Once I realised just how blindingly jealous I was of my brother, and how unnecessary it was, a great deal of my own issues became far more manageable.

Ok, this is not what I expected.
But now that I think of it, the problem is impossible to miss.
The ability to change gender at will was the first great  dream Tedd pursued after finishing the TF Gun.  Now it seems like it will once again become an unobtainable dream.
The TF Gun and items derived from that device, like the watches, are built on Uryuom magic tech.  I don't know if the gun, or any Uryuom based magic, would work normally if Earth's magic system changed.  Tedd probably doesn't know the answer to that either.  And If I remember correctly, the TF Gun did not make a permanent change.  Wasn't 30 days the upper limit?
Assuming the TF Gun won't work post magic shut down (which is what Tedd is probably thinking while planning for the worst case scenario), Tedd is in a unique position among the gender fluid.  Most people with Tedd's mindset need to decide how to present themselves, and weather or not to seek surgical changes.  Tedd can, right now, become a fully functioning human male or female without changing the essential Tedd.  Right now, Tedd's mind can change at anytime, and another transformation is available at whim.
What Tedd is now considering is the possibility that the transformation ability will be lost and the Tedd will be stuck in whatever form happens to be up when the magic runs dry.
Attention:  The eighteen year old dangerous rarity kid at MNHS.  You must now chose exactly what you want to be for the rest of your life.  The window of opportunity for you to make this selection could close at any time without warning.  Whichever option you choose has advantages and disadvantages.  Will you regret the decision you make (or fail to make) tomorrow?  Next week?  Next year?  In ten years?  Twenty years?
It's ridiculous to demand that kind of decision from kids on any issue.  But we do it on many issues already.  For which job do you wish to apply?  What kind of job training do you wish to take?  Do you want to apply to college?  To which schools will you send an application?  What will be your major and minor?  Are you considering military service?  In which branch will you serve?  Are you a compulsive liar?

I remember this one time a Senator left his party to become an Independent. This caused a great many people of his former party to send him angry letters or even threats. One of these latter was a photograph with a gun aimed at the viewer's face.
This particular case turned out to be fairly easy for the involved investigative agency to solve. The idiot who sent the letter had kindly provided it with their return address.
